You will likely easily clear NOA2, then prepare for bonafide relationship proof at CO interview later.  ie  start itemizing docs and travel plans moving forward.

Family visa.... so you are off the hook for I864 later when doing AOS for K-1.   I864 is you are the financial sponsor ... it only expires when either dies, become USC or worked 10 yrs SSN.   Divorce doesnt count.  I heard of people who divorced, had new bf or gf, refused to remarry and live off the I-864 used as alimony negotiations. FOR LIFE.

Family visa faster, none of your legal concern, father sponsoring son, clean.   Also emotionally, no one owes nobody for a GC.

Father sponsors the son.   I-864 they want you to cosponsor for the family (unmarried son) F4 visa right?   Technically you dont have to.   Father or brothers or other aunts or uncle family is better in my opinion, as like I mentioned if things go south, you are not off the hook for I-864 easy.  Imagine the scenario of your bf gets the gc , then something happened and either has a change of heart.  Now he is not even your husband and you are stuck with a I-864 potential liability if he becomes a public charge -  FOR LIFE pending the 4 exit conditions.

If things are ok, no problem.  I am just giving you scenarios to consider - of course in my heart I wish you a successful marriage.

You are proving a bonafide relationship... not just a meeting.  So front end heavy the application if I were you.   I gave them 9 meetings pictures, air - musical - train tickets, table of dates, app screen shots, facetime shots,   NO RFE.

Eg:  We take a picture with restaurant X, and included receipt of restaurant X.
            We took pictures with landmarks
We took pictures with friends and HOLD a newspaper with date
Our train tickets, air tickets, universal studio tickets have names and dates

Remember any RFE = delay 1 mth min.

This came from my attorney.  Yes on paper its 1 meeting in 2 years.   But the whole idea is to cast without a doubt this is genuine fiancee from the start.  Remember that all these paperwork trickle down to CO at embassy.

Well we can technically say prove just 1 meeting, in the end we still need to prove bonafide relationship before visa is issued.    So yes you are correct, it is not in instructions.   The bare minimum allows for easy RFE should they doubt anything else.

We are at the interview stage in Guangzhou as well.  READY means just arrived from NVC.  When it switches to administrative processing, P3 is on the way.  The dates are updated daily.  Once you get the P3, return the requested items.  You can start your DS160 and pay first (include the receipt in the package you return in P3), but wait til P4 to schedule.  Yes you can start your ustraveldocs.com account now as well (this is where you pay - we used alipay.. easy and fast confirmation)

Then you will be like us.. waiting to go to the interview ... ours is in 3 weeks time 8-)

I was sharing my files experience.    After READY at embassy, it was AP for a day, and updated the next day and we got the P3 in 2 days.    After we returned the P3, it was still AP and updated in 2 days (when P3 arrived at US Embassy).  1 day later updated again in AP status, and we received the P4 email.  It is still AP status up to today.     It has been 1 week already, but we had already obtained interview date and are all set to go.    Still AP as we speak.

The link you provided is AFTER interview AP.

    Hi Dale,

Some things are beyond our control and we can only manage expectations.   I presume its USA to NZ.   if there are budget airlines thru Singapore, try to use it, otherwise, more facetime, app chat etc.   Chinese business class to Singapore is about $2500 RT.  Then budget Scoot from Singapore.

All of us here hope you have a expedited approval.  best wishes

Start new application as F-1, at some point you click update profile update AA number.
Then start new application as K-1, your AA is updated already.

System bug does not allow K-1 update profile AA number, only non immigrant can do that.

Like service, it varies with the attorney.    My Attorney charged me $4500.  (later I realized.. errr why so high).
She did make a few mistakes like beneficiary country is a province, a field left unchecked in I-134 etc.
But the value she provided was more of front loading the USCIS part.  My wedding package was about 40 pages, way beyond the 2 signed letters.   Relationship proof was 9 trips at submission with photos tickets itinerary receipts etc.
My Law brushes certified copies were checked by her, but the most important part was she was able to explain to my beneficiary in mandarin what to do, what to expect in Guangzhou China, and dry run Q&A.

Worth it or not? I am not sure.  but we have no RFE, now P3 phase.

I am 1 2nd time K-1 petitioner - same situation, didnt work out first time.  My attorney said no way to cancel just let it expire.  This was 3 years ago.    I did nothing.

Now I am in 2nd K-1 going for my interview in about 1 months time, no RFE, 90 day NOA2.

USC marry USC - very easy in USA, no immigration involved.
USC marry F-1 to AOS to GC, - prove bonafide relationship - marriage cert, bank accts, pictures, wedding honeymoon, leases etc
USC petition 2nd K-1 - like me, its a new application, prove bonafide relationship, met 1x in 2 years, income can support etc.

The deviation from a simple case was because of my previous brush with law and its 2nd K1.   So its high i agree, but value in the advice and details maybe.  I am thinking AOS later just DIY with VJ help.

My gf was very honest, she was already in USA with a J1 no 2 yr restriction, and she wanted to study.   So she went back to China to get a full F1 (although she could just do AOS from J1 to F1 length of stay no exit visa).  But she wants a real F-1 as she wants to do grad school.

Guess what... went back to China with 1 luggage to change J-1 to F1 and got rejected 2xs F1.   First time I was doing the financial support paperwork - faster as we have all the stuff here in USA, second time her parents gave her the funds.   I guess the first time me as a USC triggered INA 214(b) - immigrant intent..   Which in reality wasnt the case.

I guess they think she wanted to immigrate but it was really just grad school.   Both times rejected was a real bummer.. she went back with expectation of 2 weeks only to convert J1 to F1.  She had demonstrated no intent to AOS and had honestly returned to China to get a F1.   Imagine all her stuff stuck in USA, and we have to settle her down in China to wait for K1 approval.

I visited her every 3 weeks  - USA CHINA  USA, ... i have a stack of air tickets and high speed train tickets.

But now, .... fast forward 6 months, we have NOA2, waiting for NVC and embassy interview so she can come.... but this time as fiancee and later spouse.    She had to reapply grad school for 2020 if she wants to , but i doubt... there is a lot of stress.  She will just focus on family for now.

So this is our story to share with you.  In summary, K1 vs non immigrant visa have to prove different stuff and base on different reasons.  Independent of each other.
