So an update finally... Consulate called to ask for the passport and some additional paper work... two weeks ago, it was dropped off but now still Back on AP, I called today they said I have to wait until they call me again for my husband to pick up the issued passport ... Hopefully this means it'll be issued soon? Fingers crossed !

Any updates Judith? They have all your documents and passport now.

They said that they sent the case back to NVC on June 29th. I just emailed them requesting for a second interview where I can attempt if needed. I hope they haven't sent to NVC yet because of the holidays. I wish they would have really tried to contact me and maybe give the option for a second interview. This is really frustrating. I really feel like my hands are tide.

That's good you asked for a second interview already.

Its very upsetting they didn't make any real effort to contact you. I mean they should keep trying to call till they reach you. Or leave a message. Or they should email.

If you hadn't called NVC, just on chance yesterday, would they just keep your case status to themselves?? After all the waiting you've already done! That's insane!

Why are they making us find things out instead of them informing us? It's just nuts!

Did they send it back already? Or are they waiting to send it back? I read on here that if they didn't send it back yet then you can ask for a second interview and submit more evidence. But you have to do it before it goes back to NVC. (I'll see if I can find the post where I read that)

I called that and spoke to a person. That's the embassy help line.

There is probably a number listed on the embassy website. Not sure if anyone answers that. But it's worth trying!

Maybe they just had a simple question and they answered it some other way.

Yes definitely contact the embassy.

I wonder what reason they have for calling the petitioner instead of the beneficiary. They can't return the passport to the person in the US...

Also why would they not use email, especially if they couldn't reach you by phone? The embassy emailed our packet 3 so they should have that (plus I've emailed them since we've been in AP as well)

I'm in the same boat but the CO said we will make a decision not right now and when I ask she told me in two months we will respond to you and now I'm 4 months and 10 days with no news or Any updates just waiting and still waiting.

We were also told, not by the CO, but by the embassy that AP is mandatory for Egypt. But that doesn't seem to be true because I've seen other couples on here go through the Cairo embassy with no waiting at all. Beyond the standard 3 days to just get the visa put into the passport.

We think we are stuck because my fiancé is male and young and muslim. I'm sure they are trying to be extra careful.

When I had my interview in Abu dhabi, and CO gave me the 221 G white Slip. he told me to check the Embassy website that is in White slip.... If you have the 221 G slip in any color... it will be a Embassy website on it.

you should go to Cairo Embassy website and click on CHECK MY STATUS... then input your case number, you should follow your case update there instead of CEAC... cause the embassy is the First...

Unfortunately there is no option on US Embassy in Cairo to check your visa.

We did not get a 221g slip at all. In fact the CO at the embassy said we were approved.

We are waiting in AP for security checks - the extra background search. That much I know.

What I don't know is why it is taking so long. We were told it wouldn't be a long wait....

That leads me to a couple different conclusions:

1. they aren't working on our case yet because they have too many ahead of us

2. they are working on our case but they've stalled because its a common name in the system or something like that

3. who the hell knows?? some other mystery....mistaken identity, case lost in the pile, ???..

I kinda don't think its option 2 because we haven't had any updates and as I understand it, if there's a hit in the system (the security database) then there's a case update.

Everything I've read about security checks claims they take a couple months at most. But here we are almost 4 months later.

Still waiting.

No word. No news. No Communication. Can't even find out anything.

I don't know what that is.

The only thing I know to check is the ceac website with our case number.

We have had no updates so far.

Ahmed I called NVC one time and they said right away that they don't know anything and I have to talk to the embassy. They didn't give me a chance to even ask anything.

Maybe I'll try again. The embassy certainly doesn't say a word other than mandatory administrative processing.

I know a lot of the security checks are done in Washington DC my the federal government. You can read about it in a million different places. It would be nice if they would tell you something about what's happening with your case.

I'm being patient as I can. But plenty of other people get their visas in 3 days time with no AP. Still others have AP but they get through faster.

God willing we can all get through this!

Greetings everyone! any update? One of the cases that had same last updates date as me July 8th, got issued today July 11 and few other cases got updated but still AP. Nothing yet from my end..

how can I get issued when hubby passport is with him? Thought embassy will call or send email after AP is done.? I am nervous.. Praying for some good news for all of us...

Mai try not to worry. The embassy is working on your case. You know that for sure.

You've already had a few updates. That's a good sign.

When they have the visa ready for issue they're going to call or email so your husband can bring his passport.

Personally I wish they didn't keep the passport at the Cairo embassy when they are going to make us wait for months and months and months. Everyone kept saying if they kept the passport then we were fine. But 4 months and no updates/no issue. It gave me a false hope that we would be together soon.

I remember a time when I didn't worry nonstop. Before AP. I also used to be able to sleep at night. Not anymore.

Its good we get to know some people while we wait on our visa journey. Especially in this time of AP which we can all agree is difficult

We are still 0 updates here. Interview was March 15th. Almost 4 months now.

I'm hoping now that Ramadan is over and Eid is almost done too, there will be some updates for Cairo!

Yes halalbrother, they are doing their job sure and doing their best.

I have no doubt they are understaffed as well for the number of cases they have to process. Which is significant.

I agree they should be concerned with security and that's an extremely difficult job.

But I also happen to know that through AP they find something in less than 1% of all cases. You can look it up on the US State Department. So generally speaking AP isn't exactly productive.

I also know that they don't put all cases through AP - even those from the same countries. And even those cases that they do put in AP, from some countries it is much faster!

None of this helps us however.

What we need to think about is being patient and praying for strength. We will be with our loved ones. One day.

I get sad and frustrated. But there's nothing we can do to change the system.

I'm glad we can message and keep each other's spirits up! Thank you to everyone here for giving me some comfort in this process!

Every day we get closer to the end! I know that for sure. Lets hope the time passes as smoothly as possible.

Tier 2 is the same as requesting to talk with a supervisor.. I tried this before when my case was at NVC stage.. Rep always told me that there are no supervisor at this time call back or we will have an supervisor call u back.. No supervisor had ever call me.. I did this most often n I was lucky two times.. I spoke with supervisors but just the same as REP.. Makes no different..maybe I might get lucky on Tuesday..long weekend.. Cry......!

I'm not surprised a Tier 2 rep gives the same answer. I just saw someone on VJ write about that and I was hoping that it made a difference.

But of course no.

For sure nothing is happening over the long weekend.

I keep checking ceac anyway. Because I can't stop myself.
