What dates were your case updates again?
Are you just waiting for the medical to be done and then your husband can come here to the US?
I think that's what you said. I know you are almost done with this!
Hoping for Ahmed and Sata! And Kamal's brother and sister!
Come on visas!! We are ready

You think so? Two of them were from me emailing. I can't remember if aside from that if there was two or three others... At least two. The one before yesterday was July 18. I'm just dying to see my family, especially my mother, but I don't want to go without my husband. I cannot imagine living apart from him after being together all this time, everyday. I'm also worried about airport terrorist attacks... It just scares me. It may sound morbid, but if anything were to happen, I'd rather us be together because I don't want to live without him. I really am worried about the possibility of this taking long and needing to redo the medical. He'll have to do the tuberculosis culture all over again and wait another two months! Not to mention, that culture costs a little under 1,000 LE and can only be done in Cairo, on three consecutive mornings, which means staying in Cairo in a hotel, eating out, traveling... It was just so costly. ?
They don't always update from emailing.
Trust me on that one.
I emailed them I don't know 5-6 times in our 5 months of waiting. We didn't get any updates till today.
Its nice you are with your love, if far from home. Most of us here in this forum are not. And that's truly awful. I mean its all awful, being apart or being in the waiting, when this process is complete and you can live a normal life, that's what we all need. Hopefully you won't have to wait long.
If they have everything they need now, you would think they can get your visa to you.
Lets hope!

wow! Congrats on the updat. happy for u girl.. Soon this nightmare will come to an end..
Thank you Mai!
I'm happy your hubby is coming to the US soon!
We will ALL get there. And be with our loved ones.
Patience patience

By all means be frustrated. I'm not telling you or anyone how to feel.
Its a frustrating process.
We are all going through this, every one here. Its not fun and it takes a long time.
Some longer than others.
My point about AP is that they will say that for many different reasons and its hard to know exactly why. We were able to find out for our case because I had my congressperson contact them. Others never know what part of their case they are waiting for. The embassy doesn't always say. They'll just say AP.
For sure if you're getting updates pretty regularly then they are actively working on your case and in that situation I wouldn't be worrying so much.
-
Kristyn,
did you contact the embassy and made an inquiry about your case?
Ahmed
We got an update today. Finally an update!
As to your question, I've emailed the embassy before yes. I was emailing pretty much every 2 weeks since May (that was after we waited 2 months from the interview with nothing).
They just send me the same reply over and over. Its not a real email about my case. Its basically blah blah 'mandatory administrative processing'
I don't know if that helps or not. Probably doesn't make any difference. But I always feel better just emailing, that way I'm doing something.

Now... What I have seen today after browsing VJ for hours is some people are told they don't need AP, are not given any paper indicating so, and then find they are in AP. That is very unfair. They just need to be direct and straight with people! They should start AP once petitions are approved! At least the name check part. Hell, if they really wanted, they could do the fingerprint part then, too. I've been fingerprinted for a state professional license before. I see no reason they can't manage to make that happen. I feel like they don't care.
Couple things, 1. you can be in AP for a variety of different things. They use that name to mean all kinds of different stuff. Basically it means they are reviewing your case. But the reasons can be a numerous.
In our situation, they had to do a background check. We were approved by the CO at the interview.
Other times they don't have all the proof they need or there's documents missing, point is AP is the name for everything that means not done with your case yet.
2. they don't tell you everything and they often tell you something that isn't exactly true. Our case and lots and lots of other cases have been told 'oh it will only be ___ amount of time' only to have it go much much longer. So take the time the tell you as a guide but its not really accurate for most.
3. they will not answer your specific questions, they will send you the same email over and over again, doesn't much matter what you say in the email. Sometimes they won't answer. That's how it goes. The email reply you got is the same email we've all gotten over and over again.
4. if you are getting updates that means they are working on your case. If they are working on your case then you should feel ok. Something is happening. Sounds like you've had lots of updates and you haven't been waiting that long.
Hope that helps.
PS Always good to read what others have to say here on VJ!

I realize most people who has their interview on march and is on AP, got their visa now... any one here had interview on March?
We interviewed March 15th in Cairo.
-
My fiance has requested to have his passport returned to him for travel 3 times now and he doesn't even get a response. Are they all so slow at processing or just the one in Egypt?
The background checks that are sometimes the reason for AP do take some time. But they don't take 4-5++ months. That's just what happens a lot at the Cairo embassy.
I don't know why.
I was actually messaging with some other couples on here who interviewed in Feb (the month) before us. A few of them got their visa in 2 months.
So when we were told by the CO at the end of our interview that we would have our visa in 2 months, we believed her.
Course now its been almost 5 months!
I'm surprised they didn't respond to your request for the passport back. I would think they should at least be able to do that (return it without the visa for travel other places).
-
I always enjoy my time on vacation with my fiancé.
We don't worry then because we are together. The vacation isn't nearly long enough though.
I'm tired of waiting on the embassy. Literally hundreds of other countries and day after day many of them get their visas after only a few months while we are waiting. That's frustrating.
-
151 days with no update.
I really don't understand how they can make us wait like this. Other embassies have some progress or their visa.
This waiting is making me nuts!
-
Hi. We are waiting too.
Our interview was on March 15th.
We were put in mandatory AP right after our interview. The CO said we were approved and they kept my fiancés passport right from the start.
But since then we've just been waiting and waiting. Almost 5 months now and no visa.
Unfortunately the embassy in Cairo is well known for doing this.
Keep us updated if you hear anything. Or if the embassy contacts you again.
-
it has been 13 years since i saw him and i don't remember an. eid with him.
Alxmldh
Congratulations Kamal! I'm so glad you'll be reunited with your father especially after such a long time apart.
Hoping your siblings can join you soon.
-
Am nervous. A third interview
If they keep talking to you and your case keeps going that seems like a good thing to me!
You can do it, show them they should say YES. You'll get your visa
-
Our medical will expire August 9th (that's 6 months after his exam).
Do you think I should email the embassy to ask about redoing it?
Its not likely we will be issued before it expires.
Even if we are issued before that I think he will need to be current in order to travel here.
Anyone have any advice?
-
It is advisable to schedule the medical after your interview is scheduled.
For Egypt you might be waiting a long time. The medical only lasts for 6 months and then you have to redo it.
Get your interview date, then go make your appointment for the medical close to the date of the interview.
-
Fingers crossed!
Its nice that the embassy responded. I've heard there are lots that don't write at all.
Keep us posted.
-
Yes I hope we hear something soon.
I just don't understand how there's nothing after all these months.
I expected that the embassy would slow down during Ramadan but that's been over for some weeks now and still nothing.
I'll let you know if anything happens with our case.
I wish the best for you and your family!
-
'Packet 3' is an email from the embassy
Or it was for us
They emailed me (the petitioner - the US citizen) all the instructions for scheduling the interview.
You schedule the interview online via this website ustraveldocs.com/eg

Kristyn,
Do you have any news?
We still have zero updates.
March 15th our interview day was the last date for our case
My fiancé has tried calling the embassy to see if talking to someone would help. We thought maybe they would tell us something. (Not likely but you know we thought we would try)
So far all that does is give him a message saying 'all agents are busy'
I'm allowed to contact my congressperson again in a few days (they gave me dates that they would contact the embassy on).
I don't feel like anything is happening. And I don't feel like there's anything I can do about it.
But I guess one day they have to answer us.....
-
i totally agreed with Kristyn..Co will always tell u one or two months. I guess they do this just because they want u get out of their face.. Co said the same one or two months lies to hubby's n we waited close to 5months..it will happen soon sata keep the faith.. Kristyn any updates from ur end?
halalbrother hope u re doing ok..? I know it's difficult but plz take courage..
We've had zero updates. March 15th was the interview.
I called nvc last week and they said they would contact the embassy to inquire. But they can't force the embassy to respond.
Since its been a week now I don't think the embassy will be responding at all.
Honestly at this point I'm just trying not to even think about how long its been or how much longer we will be waiting. I'm getting to be so upset all the time and having nightmares and not sleeping. I just have to try to turn my brain off.
I'll be sure to let everyone know if we hear anything.
In the mean time I'm glad you Mai and others here are getting updates and your visa.
-
I don't think I would count too much on the number of days being correct.
I mean maybe...
But I find its better to not count the days. Most people end up waiting much longer than initially told.
I know what you mean about not doing anything with your life. We are on permanent hold with the AP wait!
-
I would like to thank you guys for all support I have from you,
Mai,kristyn, khaled, kamal,Sata, jissa, ahmed and luna, pahopefull, and any othere members here i forget them.
I wouldn't be here again because my journey for me is over. (Cancelled visa).
It doesn't matter for me the visa as it's matter for me to be with my family but unfortunately I can't be aslo with my family with my kids.
I'm sorry I can't talk more details.
I wish for all of you the best.
Thank you for everything.
I wish for you good things. May you have a happy and peaceful journey ahead.
Thank you for your kindness and concern for all our cases.
-
I'm not even sure if we're in AP I'm assuming yes. The CO didn't give my husband any slip nor did he say he was approved. Just told him that he'll get a call within a month to pick up his passport. Whatever the hell that means. But I'm just praying we all make it out of this #### hole alive. It's ridiculous we pay so much to get to the finish line and then they throw us back a few miles and make us crawl to the finish line again. ?
That's pretty much the sum of it!
(Ps there's only a couple case statuses on ceac so most everyone is in AP with or without a paper or passport or whatever. Unless it's 'ready' or 'issued' it's AP)
May the wait be ending soon! God willing

Mai I'm sending all good wishes to you and your hubby.
That's a pain that the embassy is making you wait so long and redo things over again.
I know they will issue you as soon as you can get your appointment done.
Just hold on a little longer! Keep the faith girl, almost done!
Congrats to Kamal's whole family! All are approved now!
Big family together time coming soon
Congratulations! Celebrate!
