The question is related to the interview schedule (and the timeframe for that to happen).
The case complete date is before the interview.
That much I know.
Its not after the visa is issued because there's a spreadsheet that outlines the time from case complete date to interview date.

Can someone clarify? What is considered the point when the case is complete?
Is that after packet 3 is processed?
We applied for a K1 visa (not sure if that makes a difference).
I'm trying to see if we've reached that point so I can make note of the date.
Thanks

Thanks for all the details! Definitely a big help

Thanks for the clarification.
I should consider the IV information for every step going forward yes?
I understand there's a way to find out when your case has been sent to AP and when the visa is ready etc.
This is the same place to find that out?

Hi, I'm unclear on how I find out what the true status of our case is.
If I go to the Department of State website (https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/) I see that I can find out the visa application status.
I have the option of choosing the NIV or the IV.
If I put our case # in under the IV option (that's the number we got from the embassy with our packet 3), it says:
"Ready" and the date the status was updated
If I put our application ID # in from the DS160 form under the NIV option it says:
"no status" contact the Cairo embassy
I understand the embassy classifies the case as a IV. BUT in actuality the K1 visa is a NIV.
So which is the correct version of our case status?
Or is there somewhere else I'm supposed to get this information from?

Hi. Our case has been processed through the Packet 3 step of the procedure.
We have sent our completed documents in for Packet 3 as well.
After a week of having our completed packet the embassy contacted us and asked us to send the DS160 confirmation page.
Despite having ALREADY included in DS160 confirmation page along with the police certificate, birth certificate, etc etc. - All the usual documents in packet 3.
So my questions are:
1. Is this normal? They ask for something we already sent. They just didn't really look at the document packet?
Or 2. Is there some other confirmation page that I should include? We sent the only page that we got at the end of the DS160 application. (It's a single page yes?)
Our case is with the embassy in Cairo Egypt.
Thank you

That does help! Thanks for sharing!
We haven't gotten an email but we did send the other documents we had, excluding the payment slip. Its just arrived to the embassy.
I hope we both get to move forward and schedule interviews soon!
Best of luck to us both

I'm so glad we're experiencing the same things. That's a relief!
We called the visa support center about a week ago and all they told us was we had to wait for further instructions from the embassy. We were told there are different ways to pay the fee but that they aren't authorized to say what those ways are because its up to the embassy based on our individual case.
I'm not sure about the case number being loaded...that's not something I've seen/heard before.
I hope you have a good trip.
Good wishes!

Yes step 8 is the same place we are stuck at too.
I've gone through all the steps on that website (http://www.ustraveldocs.com/eg) with making the profile many times just to be absolutely certain I didn't make any mistakes in the information. But there's no getting past the Case ID number on step 8.
I read through the K1 info guides and the embassy info on this site. There's no mention of the deposit slip or paying the visa fee or getting through the profile on ustraveldocs.com/eg.
So my fiancé and I are just confused and without any information on what to do next.
I'll post when/if I get a response from the embassy. Its been about 2.5 weeks now with no reply.

Here's what I can tell you. We got our approval from the NVC for our K1 visa application and just a few days later received an email from the Cairo Embassy.
I was surprised because it was so quick. We never got anything in the mail. But the text of the email matches what Packet 3 would request. The email said the following:
Please prepare the following documents for each person applying for a visa and send them to our office via Aramex courier service:
1. Photocopy of passport (the original to be submitted on the appointment date)
2. Photocopy of birth certificate
3. A copy of your divorce certificate (If previously married and divorced)
4. Police certificate from your country of nationality if you are 16 years old or older
5. Police certificate if you lived in a different country for more than 12 months and you were 16 years or older at that time.
6. An Affidavit of Support (Form I-134) signed by the Petitioner.
7. Petitioner’s most recent year of federal income taxes (form 1040 only). Please also bring the most recent W2 form and a job letter indicating current salary and length of employment
8. Medical exam for applicant as attached, medical examination report should be submitted on the day of the visa interview. Applicants are advised to schedule their medical examination 3weeks prior to the date of their visa interview.
9. Applications: DS-160 application online application form: https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/, please print the confirmation page and send it along with the documents.
10. 2 photos face view photos with a white background for the applicant-(5*5) Passport size with white Background (no modifications or touch ups permitted)
11. Copy of CIB receipt.
12. Fees: Login to your profile at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/eg, print your deposit slip ( CGI ) and pay the fees 265$ at your local CIB bank.
Scheduling of appointment:
The Cairo IV unit will be moving to applicant self-scheduling system starting on December 1, 2015 for certain types of cases. Applicants will be able to select their own appointment date from a list of available slots.
So fine, its not the process that was described here online. But the real problem is STEP 12. There is no deposit slip on that website. No matter what I do or how much I search, its not there.
That means we can't pay the fee and so we are stuck.
I emailed the embassy many times and called the support center. I've gotten no response to my emails. All the support center said was that we would have to wait for the embassy to respond.
My questions are this:
1. Has anyone had this happen, i.e. not find the deposit slip to pay the visa fee?
2. Did anyone get an email and no actual packet 3 in the mail?
3. Does anyone know if the Cairo Embassy is changing the way the system for the fee payment and the appointment scheduling? Perhaps that's the reason for this issue...the system is still in process to be updated?
Nothing I read anywhere seems to match what we are experiencing.

Having the exact same issue. Can't get a deposit slip. The information I have says I'm supposed to pay the fee at a CIB bank branch using the deposit slip we get after creating a profile on the ustraveldocs website.
But there's no deposit slip anywhere within that site.
My emails to the embassy have not gotten any response.

We are experiencing the exact same thing meromero.
I've sent 3 or more emails to the embassy and haven't gotten any response.
We can't pay the fee without the deposit slip and I can't access the deposit slip. So we are just stuck.
I read that the fee payment was done at the interview but I got an email from the embassy with instructions that said to pay the fee via the ustraveldocs (CGI) website.
Anyone been through this before? Any ideas on what to do? Or is it just a wait and wait and wait....?
