nane1104 got a reaction from GIAJOE in case was submitted for quality review based on approval recommendation
My application was under quality review for a little over a month. I just got my notice for the oath ceremony today.
I was told it could take between 3-6 month.

I hope, you get good news soon!

Thank you so much, I looked through the thread and its filled with helpful information.

Thank you, I will. I feel lighter and happier thanks to all the great advice I’ve gotten from everyone in the thread. I’ve actively been taking steps to get my SSN, bank account and ID for the last couple of days in terms of phone calls etc, so everything is in motion.

nane1104 got a reaction from Mike E in Approval pending after interview
I had my interview on Tuesday and I’m a bit upset, to be honest.
Everything went well overall, I passed the testing portion, we documented my intended name change, went through the entire application.
Towards the end, the officer suddenly told me that I didn’t have a current photo on file,
mind you, I had done biometrics last year for my greencard renewal and had the letter stating that I didn’t need biometrics done.
She agreed, but nevertheless, no photo.
She told me to go get that done right after we were done, she’d then recommend my file for approval and we could schedule the oath ceremony then.
I asked how long she thinks this may take and she said 3-6 months!
    Like, whaaat???
We are moving out of state (and possible overseas) over the summer, so I’ll also need my passport asap.
she told me to wait for a letter that says I’m approved and to then email them and they’ll schedule me asap.
It just so happens that my husband (retiring out of the military next month) got a job offer overseas and they want him to start asap.
Now I wonder how long I should wait or if I should just email soon and ask to help me out with the scheduling.
I don’t understand what would take that long, uploading that photo or the name change?
Typically, their office does oath ceremony the same day as interview.
    What do you guys think?

I, unfortunately, agree with Ontarkie. For one, he can't do anything about your immigration status. However, in terms of keeping you safe, there are a few things you can/need to do:

    1. Plan your exit strategy: Can you stay with someone? Do you have friends? Do you have the financial resources/employment to find an apartment for yourself and make the downpayment (for which you would need a credit history, or someone willing to give you a place to stay).
    2. You guys are married. Is your home a joint property? Are you renting? If he threatens you again, call the police and have him removed plus retraining order.
    3. You know what he is capable of and that should direct your options.
    4. Secure important documents or copies of: Your passport, your greencard, pay stubs/W2, copies of your tax filings. If you have children, think of their documents (birth certificates, passports etc), too.
    5. Depending on how much time you have to leave, set up a financial cushion to start a new life. Start having your own account if not already in place.

Depending on how violent he is, the art of deception is key until you are out and I would also advise you to not change patterns of your behavior until you are safe.

I believe that threatening to use violence and intimidation is beyond fixable and marriage counselling.

Fiancée arrived on a K1 and besides acting absolutely crazy, treating him as her personal ATM, she made it perfectly clear that she wasn’t in to him and needed him for the green card.
Poor guy let her run all over him and had excuses for everything.
It went on and on for weeks and months.
I think they finally went their separate ways but she really put him through the ringer. It was tragic.

nane1104 got a reaction from Lemonslice in Marriage through Utah online marriage without meeting in person with my girlfriend
I am curious who is the one who introduced the idea of an online wedding. Besides that I personally think, its not smart to marry someone without having ever met in person, if I was to review that petition, I would have several red flags going up.
First of all, Nigeria is considered a high fraud country but someone in the US military also has benefits to gain from being married, even when the spouse is not present. This might not matter for the petition, but if I was the beneficiary and my US significant other was pushing me to rush into marriage right that, I'd be very careful.

With all due respect, but every person has their own boundaries. What works for you - doesn't work for others and vice versa.

I love my husband's family and we get along well. But what you described triggered an anxiety attack. There are many people whose mental state relies on their personal space and / or alone time. Respect that.

I live in Louisiana also and yepp, they don't make it easy. I had to go there twice too, the first time I went with my passport and SSN and they told me I have to wait for something "official" that proofs that I was in the US legally. EAD or greencard.
So I had to wait for my EAD card, went there again and again...wasn't enough, they wanted to see my greencard.
At that point I insisted on what they post on the DMV website, that I am eligible for a DL.
The lady disappeared for a good 20 mins then came back with a piece of paper that said she needed to see my marriage certificate and the NOA2 for the K-1.
I swear she made this up just to annoy me, because when I produced the marriage certificate and showed her the NOA1 for my AOS she had no idea what the differences were, so I explained her in depth what my status here is.
I guess she was so confused with all her papers that she let me took the written test right away, had the driving test the next day and I even was able to keep my german dl...lol
Sometimes you just have to be a lil persistant....
Where in LA do you live?
Oh and yes, I could have gotten a drivers permit until I had my EAD.

I think your best shot is to surrender your card, go to the U.S. via VWP and try to hash out things with your husband. If you guys can work it out, you can proceed with a new application for a spouses visa.
In the meantime I'd focus on building your life in Spain.

If you turned in your greencard to the U.S. embassy in Spain, you would be allowed to travel to the U.S. on VWP, Right?
At least that gave you some time to see where things with your husband are and if it looks like your marriage can be saved, you can apply for a souses visa to come back here permanently.
The visa would take time but it would give you the chance to travel again.

I feel like she is just coming up with new things to torment you emotionally and she uses her daughter and her condition to manipulate and blackmail you. It's not about her daughters wellbeing, she can easily get a plan for her as others have pointed out already.
I think the sooner you can completely distance herself from her, the better.
My husband was in a similar situation with his ex. She left him together with her son who he had not adopted. She asked him to keep the child on his insurance, which he did. He watched the kid over the weekends. He tried to keep that bond- and then she cut him off from one day to the next. Needless to say, she put him through the divorce and then through the separation from the child. Cruel people.
    I'm wishing you much strength!

She only wants you for the monetary benefits as a 'step father' for her daughter.
Now she wants you to pay for her health insurance. What next? Disney world holiday trip? College funds?
She has chosen her path for her own selfishness.
You should cut ties/contact with her once the divorce is final.
You don't owe her anything after she has hurt you so much.
