My husband is Jamaican and his father's name is not on his birth certificate and we had no problems. The only time you need a father's name on a birth certificate to my knowledge is if a parent or stepparent is filing for their children or stepchildren. In regards to the death certificate of a parent, we did not need that either, they just asked the year of parent's death when completing the DS-260. I would hold off on the police certificate because it is only good for 6 months or a year and you can get one relatively quick (http://www.embassyofjamaica.org/documents/Obtaining_Police_Certificate.pdf) don't forget, go to the tax office FIRST to pay for certificate then to the police office. When you get your marriage certificate (around 5 five days or so after marriage) you get two originals, you keep one and give one to him to take to interview. You can get the passport anytime before case gets to NVC. If you have the opportunity, open a joint bank account, not easy to do, but will help with the bona fide relationship. Take pictures with friends and family members, and keep track of phone calls, Skype calls, and mail that is sent and received (cards and letters you send to each other). Make sure your IRS Form 1040 meets the income requirements listed on I-864P, if not find a joint sponsor you will need that for the NVC process.

Congratulations to all who have received CC's and interviews, you give me hope, this has been such a long process!
I completed my DS-260 this weekend and my scan date is October 28, so now the wait begins. Hoping for a CC by Thanksgiving, I am going to see my husband and that would be wonderful news!
Unfortunately, Jamaica takes about 3-4 months to get interviews, not sure why such a backlog. Does anyone know why Jamaican Embassy is so backlogged?
-
How do you know when your scan date is? I have sent my documents (AOS & IV) to NVC and they were received on Oct 28. I received two IV invoices one on Nov 2 and one on Nov 3. I used the Nov 2 invoice, but the second invoice is still showing as need to be paid and the first invoice says in process. Should this be a concern? Hopefully I can complete the DS-260 tomorrow.

You're calling NVC to have them review the DS 261. You don't have to but it saves you time. Once the DS 261 is submitted, it has to be reviewed in order tor the IV bill to be generated. This review normally takes up to 30 days. Once the AOS shows as paid you can call and (very nicely) ask the NVC rep to "look over" your DS 261-which is basically they confirm the contact information that was submitted on the DS 261.
In my case, me calling alerted me to an issue where my case was locked. When I was researching I found a guy that didn't call and ended up with a locked case which wasn't unlocked for months because he didn't want to call initially and decided to wait until NVC emailed him. In my case calling got in unlocked a few days later.
Thanks so much for clearing that up, hopefully I can call by Friday or Monday for the review.

First congrats to everyone that is moving forward to interviews!
I am a little confused. I received my case number and IIN today. I paid the AOS fee and completed the DS-261. After reading so many posts, I am confused about when I need to call NVC to confirm email address or why I need to do this, if I completed the DS-261 online.

Has Anyone that was transferred to CSC and approved this month called NVC? Have they gotten approved cases?
From what I read, CSC is generally slower to send out cases to NVC but hoping not true :/
I was approved on Sept 8. I called NVC last week and they said they didn't have my case, so I called USCIS who also said they didn't have my case. I was told it would take 30-35 days from both places. I called NVC again today and got the same response. CSC must be really slow in forwarding files.

My case was approved on September 8 at CSC, I have contacted the NVC last week and today and they have not received my case yet. I also contacted USCIS last week and they said they didn't have my case either. The USCIS website has not been updated to indicate that it was sent. The NVC representative told me it would take 35 days, but when I read through VJ forums it seems that most people get through in a couple of weeks. Any other suggestions on how to locate my case?

So I finally got through to NVC and the representative said it will take 35 days from the approval date for them to get the files in their office and that it was not there yet. How do I determine if my file has left CSC yet?

I have been trying to reach the NVC to get my case number for several days. I have been unable to get through. The message "due to the large number of calls .... please call back later". What is the best time to call? My case was approved Sept. 8 at CSC. Thanks!

Thanks guys!!
After a 45 minute wait they confirmed the case was completed yesterday... Yyyyiiiipppppeeeeeeee!!!! I leave for my 1 year anniversary next weekend and this is one of the best gifts I could have gotten( besides him actually being able to come back stateside with me).
CONGRATS!!! So happy for you and happy anniversary -- say hello to JA for me I haven't been in 8.5 months, kinda wish I was going, but patience my time will come.

Thanks everyone, I am super excited. I will start calling in a week or so to see if my case number as been assigned. I have learned a lot following your progress through this complicated system of ours. Praying that all goes well and goes smoothly. My AOS packet is complete, just waiting on two items for the IV packet and I am ready.

Ok so we are assuming two weeks then. Mine was transferred Sept 1, so I should expect something next week. With NOA2 approval taking this long, anyone know how long it will take overall? Does that mean I can expect an interview for my wife around Jan? Assuming their are no problems.
The NVC can take between 30-60 days, the embassy portion really depends on your country, but most are between 30-90 days.

Did anyone get their letter in the mail yet stating which office their case was transferred to? My PD is 2/27/15 and I received an email that it was transferred but I have no idea where to. Hope this means we will get approved shortly.
I received my NOA2 approval last night from CSC. I was transferred there on 8/20. Those that are still waiting, it should be very soon for your approvals. Keep the faith and keep praying, all in God's timing.

We are still waiting on our petition approval. We got transferred to CSC from VSC. Just got the transfer letter in the mail on Saturday. I tried to do an inquiry, but have to wait an additional 5 - 6 months before I can do that at least online. Not quite sure if my case has physcially arrived at CSC yet.
Glad to see that everyone is moving quite quickly through the NVC process. God Bless!
Just an update: We got our NOA2 approval last night around 10:00 PM from CSC. I am so happy, I hope we can finish this all by Christmas, but just thanking God that we are moving forward.

I enjoy reading all the post in this group, you guys are so supportive. I am still waiting on my NOA2 (PD Feb 27). My case was transferred from Vermont to California on Aug 20. I did not receive the letter in the mail yet, but I was able to call and the automated system indicated the office of transfer. Does anyone know if I will need start the processing time of 5 months over again in the new office?

Hi All:
So frustrated, I am at VSC with a PD of 02/27/15. I just got an email that they are transferring my case to another Service Center. I have to wait on the letter in snail mail with more detailed information. I am thankful that they didn't lose my case, but can't believe it is taking so long. Please pray that I have patience.

Also have him sign a copy of the G-325 before leaving Jamaica, you will need that to file your I-130.
