I'm always a fan of starting with a measured approach when making larger changes to the site. If we need to evolve to accomplish things then that is fine, but it is better than an over reaction. Also, I suspect that despite my best efforts no matter what decisions I make some folks will disagree. Regardless, I do want to help what I see as legitimate concerns folks have raised.
What I am thinking of starting with:
- Decide on a local mod that is respected by the CEHST forum members and will be proactive about steering things away from being a problem to begin with. They will be our forum mod expert and can be a key part of related mod decisions.
- Limit access to CEHST to members that have at least 50 posts on the site. This is to help reduce drive by sock puppets.
- For habitual offenders in CEHST, instead of using suspensions first, access to the forum can be removed (either temporarily or semi-perminently) still allowing them to post elsewhere on the site.

Posts which go over the line get removed. If a post didn't go over the line then it's safe to say the poster is not going to get a suspension. Leniency has nothing to do with one's ability or inability to control oneself. (Think... guns don't kill people; people kill people.) When you post hate speech you are doing so knowing that it is going to be censored. The OP even acknowledged it later in the thread. In addition, and I don't know how many different ways I can say this, assumptions are being made without benefit of the entire picture.

The new problem I see developing is that some members have decided that there is some sort of polarization, and are making posts about the "other" crowd and deciding, with no evidence, that this group is ruining their "fun." They are calling these members "sensitive," or the "PC crowd" or some other names.
One person actually posted that the forum is too full of women who are "b*tches" and who ate urine for breakfast and they are the root of the problem, and that got a lot of plusses. No one sees a problem with that?
Someone else said that unbanning Penny was a grand conspiracy to get some "type" of poster to come back while "punishing" other types of posters, without understanding that one violates TOS, one does not.
These same people say "if you don't like someone, put them on ignore!" but they cannot take their own advice if someone they don't like posted. Instead they say that women ate urine.

I was serious. I enjoyed reading his stories as much as he liked telling them. I actually have read up on a lot of his old threads. I think my favorite was him and wife of Mahmoud or however you spell it in that lowes commercial thread. He's crazy, no doubt but he's very entertaining and his comments crack me up. Everyone doesn't have to like kip the way you do. You've been making a lot of assumptions about other people's intentions that frankly aren't true. I don't do that to you, why would you do that to me? Just because people don't feel like you do about the situation doesn't mean they conspired against Kip or made fun of him or whatever. No body's turned on you or deserted you, you're just dealing in extremes.

Any further posts that do not restrict themselves to the OPs immediate circumstances or adds confusion or misdirection or extraneous content that provides no useful additional information for the OP will be removed and result in a thread ban for the poster.

Hi!! To start a New Topic go to the Thread you want to ask the question in. Then look at the black banner at the top and find the "View new Content" link look pretty much straight down about an inch or two and you should see a blue button labeled "Start New Topic" Click it and fill in the subject line, etc.
