I would just like to try to shed a light on the "I hate" bit. What she is hating is the loss of everything she knows; and that includes her independence. She is just choosing the wrong words to express it.

One abusive post has been removed. Please be civil or you will be removed from the thread.
Dieseltu, the first year I was here was just awful. I'm sure I was just as miserable as your wife but my husband understood that my frustration was due to missing everything and everyone I knew, so he helped me to familiarize myself with my surroundings and even went out of his way to find places where I could pick up items which weren't readily available to me here, but were everywhere in my home country.
I don't think I fully adjusted until the end of my second year, but the first year was the worst. Give her time. Give her hugs. Give her flowers. She doesn't want you to fix it for her; she's just grieving.

Are you in the city or suburbs? My wife asked this. If your wife came from the city, the suburbs will be difficult for her. Give her some autonomy, control over her own life. Find out what public transit goes near your home, if any, and make sure she can travel to Chinatown or visit her friends while you are not available. Buy a transit card, auto reloadable so she will not run out of rides while she is away from home. Give her some cash to spend as she chooses.
Remember, your wife was a fully functioning adult in China. Now she has put herself in your hands, and the dynamic between you is more of parent/child, since she is dependent on you for everything. You must be more supportive than you ever thought possible, more understanding than you are used to, and more accepting than ever. You brought her over here, now you must man up and help her in the way she needs to be helped. "You help your wife=you help your marriage=you help yourself" That is a direct quote from my wife.
    Your marriage depends on this.

I agree with you, and nowhere did I say it was okay. I have included Ewok's requests and statements, above, to back up your claims through the formal process so this thread can remain constructive.
I know I haven't seen everything to which you may be referring, but I do agree that there are instances where subjectiveness can make things confusing and frustrating. Personally, I am concerned that VJ not get to the point where posts and viewpoints are over-censored. It's akin to the complaints that some modding is over-zealous, and yet, at the same time, "we are not doing our jobs" if someone's perception of a post is different to another's. It's a tough call.

It is somewhat disheartening to read this thread, although there have been a few good laughs, so thank you.
I think we are making strides and we really do appreciate the constructive feedback. As the Captain has said, it does take time to work through the intricacies of implementing some of the suggestions and we appreciate your patience. We look forward to what the Captain has in store to improve the experience for all.

To the above, I want to be clear that this thread is NOT a mod bashing thread. This thread has already gone wildly off topic. There is now an official process for you to request a review of mod actions so I encourage you to use it if you feel you need to use it. It will be an objective process and you will need to back up claims with evidence.
The end goal, is that we continually review and improve things on our side. Your help is valuable.

Just for the record - this post is meant as pure satire - and one of the finest examples I have ever read .

I did not ignore it. Tell you what, instead of posting in generalities please give me a specific example (links to content, back story) with evidence. Show me step by step a case where this happened. Mods can not delete content, only hide it. Their mod actions are logged. If there is a conspiracy as you claim then if you can make a case with evidence I will fully explore it. Shoot it over the support ticket system -- I'll be looking for it. You have my complete attention if so.

As follow up - the post that you responded to was a satire pointing out the ridiculousness of a specific perspective and was not meant to be taken as a serious post, thus it was not a diatribe. If you read it over with that in mind you will see that it is actually a very effective piece of satire as well.

    lilg540,
I agree with NLR that there really is no avenue for you to study and then work in the US in your field without obtaining either a fiance or marriage visa. Unfortunately a tourist visa does not allow for any studies over 18 hours of class time per week and the type of study must be of a recreational nature like a cooking class, it cannot be used for professional reasons.
If your field of expertise is not on the list of TN or H1B jobs, then unfortunately you will not qualify for a work visa either.
The E3 visa is for Australian citizens.
There is a lot of confusing information in this thread. I suggest you post future questions in the Canada sub-forum, you will get more in-depth advice from your fellow Canadians and folks who have been through what you are going through now. Canada is different from any other country in regards to tourism and working in the US.

There are lots of young people who are much more mature than people who are older. Maturity has nothing to do with age.

A number of posts have been removed for derailing the thread. Please don't make judgements. Just a simple response to the question will be fine.
Nancy63, just being married to a US citizen does not get someone residency in the US. The US citizen spouse has to petition for her or, as others have said, she would need to pursue another type visa.
The story hasn't changed; we're just getting more details.

Posts which go over the line get removed. If a post didn't go over the line then it's safe to say the poster is not going to get a suspension. Leniency has nothing to do with one's ability or inability to control oneself. (Think... guns don't kill people; people kill people.) When you post hate speech you are doing so knowing that it is going to be censored. The OP even acknowledged it later in the thread. In addition, and I don't know how many different ways I can say this, assumptions are being made without benefit of the entire picture.
As for the latter part of your post, I would have to agree with The Nature Boy.
