cosmonauts reacted to G>^v in I-751 July 2019 Filers
Hello everyone, by Jesus’s grace I’m here to share that this morning my greencard has been approved. I’ve been a silent reader of this forum and celebrated every little victory of you guys approval, many times I was filled with hope by reading your experiences and today I want someone to read my experience and be filled with hope too. Here is my timeline:
I751 filled on July 1st 2019
Biometrics fone October 23rd 2019
I got divorce and sent my divorce decree on June 11th 2020
and today October 23rd my card is being produced.
Keep y’all’s faith, God’s will is perfect, His time is better. God bless you all on your journey.

I second this, I was just hired in August with a DL and unrestricted SSN. I did not show my GC.

misook,
it's up to you to choose what documents to use when filling the I-9. You don't need the greencard to fulfill the requirements if you have valid Driver License and the Social Security Card with no restrictions, for example. The employer can't ask for specific documents.

cosmonauts reacted to mindthegap in Work is going to terminate me as my green card has expired, I am removing conditions
What a daft thing to say. Proof of status - which is what we are talking about here - is not the status itself, which is why what this employer is doing is illegal and very discriminatory, and such procedures are supposed to prevent this exact thing from happening.
My last physical card expired 5 1/2 years ago when I first filed for removal of conditions, and last usable extension letter expired 4 1/2 years ago.
My proof of permanent resident status has existed in photo-less stamp form only since then...but I’ve been a permanent resident and legal to work throughout.
There is no legal requirement to have a drivers license or state ID, so by your logic I should be unable to work?
How about I just wear an armband with an immigrant symbol on my arm to mark me out for extra discrimination? That worked well in the 1940s.

I just had my interview Oct 7, please do bring your passport (USC) that’s the first thing the guard in the entrance asked for. USC passport / my government issued ID and the appointment letter (just to be sure, i am not sure if its just here in my uscis office who would ask for that)
the interviewer asked very little things like:
What is your address? (she corrected the one she saw from her screen)
when is your birthday?
where do you work? Do you guys rent or paying mortgage?
how long (my USC husband) have you been working with your current employer?
the rest are just like telling stories.
i brought so much paperworks if in case they needed something but she never asked for anything until at the end of the interview when she said do you like to submit anything to us? Which i said yes, and handed her 2019 tax return and mortgage documents, and then she said this actually enough, i have approved your case, currently your case says “new card being produced”
wishing you best of luck!

Hi all, I have some good news. My I-751 status changed to interview was scheduled. I also have pending N-400. There is no news on N-400 yet. Hopefully they will do a combo interview and the this process will be over finally.

Congrats. Y’all having interviews already is sending my anxiety to the roof. Let’s hope we all June fellows get notices soon.

Nothing about biometrics.
After looking at my notice, the case went to Lee Summit, not Overland Park

India explicitly has a different system to Chile. The poster said Chile doesn’t ask you to renounce anything. You explicitly cannot have another passport under Indian law.

Well this is an “official” - if not legal - position on dual nationality insofar as it is published on the Dept of State website:
U.S. law does not mention dual nationality or require a person to choose one nationality or another. A U.S. citizen may naturalize in a foreign state without any risk to his or her U.S. citizenship. However, persons who acquire a foreign nationality after age 18 by applying for it may relinquish their U.S. nationality if they wish to do so. In order to relinquish U.S. nationality by virtue of naturalization as a citizen of a foreign state, the law requires that the person must apply for the foreign nationality voluntarily and with the intention to relinquish U.S. nationality. Intent may be shown by the person’s statements and conduct.
Dual nationals owe allegiance to both the United States and the foreign country. They are required to obey the laws of both countries, and either country has the right to enforce its laws. It is important to note the problems attendant to dual nationality. Claims of other countries upon U.S. dual-nationals often place them in situations where their obligations to one country are in conflict with the laws of the other. In addition, their dual nationality may hamper efforts of the U.S. Government to provide consular protection to them when they are abroad, especially when they are in the country of their second nationality.

Yes, this! It's worth finding out. Chile for example doesn't allow dual citizenship with the US but they don't ask you to renounce anything. You're just American in the US and Chilean in Chile but never both at the same time for legal purposes.

cosmonauts reacted to Fr8dog in Why does USCIS Transfer to other Service Centers
When you file for N-400, your file will go to the NBC office as soon as possible and regardless of where it is. N-400 gets priority over all other pending petitions. This is why filing for citizenship can speed up your ROC (pulling it from the ques), or delay it if your file is already at the field office.

cosmonauts reacted to Captain Ewok in Guest Appearance Opportunity for VJ Members on NPR "On Point"
Hi VJ'ers-
NPR reached out to us looking for any members that may be interested in participating in a radio show to air on NPR called "On Point" (https://www.npr.org/podcasts/510053/on-point)
Details are below. Please message me directly and I can provide their contact information if you are interested. They'd like to speak to new citizens that are voting for president the first time this year.
From NPR,
"Ahead of the election we're airing a series of voter roundtables. Last week, for instance, we spoke with three voters from Wisconsin. This week we spoke with three voters who are military veterans. And this coming Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. ET we're hoping to speak with three newly naturalized citizens who will be voting for U.S. president for the first time this November.
Examples of questions we'd hope to discuss on air:
-What does it mean to you to cast a ballot for the first time? -What are your biggest hopes for this country these next four years?" -
cosmonauts reacted to SusieQQQ in Not bear arms means not willing to take a full oath?
I didn’t take the modification but I know of people who are conscientious objectors to any form of arms. Shooting people is not the only way to defend the constitution, and the oath itself details other ways you can serve your country.
