Quick update, I just started a new job, and the HR does not require my extension letter, just my expired green card and that’s it, no question was asked

So I had put in a service request as well but I got a different reply. I got a letter from my local office saying that my case was still in California Service Center so they couldn't do anything. It basically said, keep waiting.

Yes, you can use the credit card form when filing I-751. I did, no problems at all.

I believe you'd need a Transportation Letter
"If your Green Card is stolen while outside the U.S.; please notify the police department in the jurisdiction in which your card was stolen to obtain a police report and contact your nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate to request a boarding foil (formerly known as a transportation letter). Please be aware that you may be required to complete the I-90 form: Application to Replace Permanent Resident and paying the fee at the time of your re-entry to the U.S. "

I actually had my husband show them their own website after they were being difficult. They quickly took care of his renewal on the spot.

You should be fine, isn't there a list of acceptable forms of ID on the appointment letter?

cosmonauts reacted to JKLP in I751 interview August 2019
Hello everyone,
Visajourney has been a great help to us with the immigration stuff so in return id like to share our i751 interview to everyone wondering what and how it goes.
Since most are probably gonna go through the interview due to the recent changes i hope it helps.
Interview schedule was at 8:55am but we arrived and went in at 8am.
Screening (like the ones on the airport, emptying your pockets, belt and watches on trays and then shoes off) [We did not bring our phones inside since usually its like that with immigration interviews, but the moment we were waiting in the reception area we saw several using their phones even if there's a sign saying no using mobile phones while waiting🤣]
Reception (where you will give your appointment letter just the 1st page, then wait for your name to be called)
8:30am we got called in. Swear to an oath etc etc . He asked for our ids (we gave our driver's license), my expired green card and asked us documents wed like to submit. Then the interview. Here are some of the questions arranged accdg to how the interview went
1. You have a child together?
2. Can i have the birth certificate? (They want the copy and original, they will double check stuff from the copy you gave that day to the copy you first submitted to the original)
3. So tell me, how did you guys meet? (Literally what he asked us)
4. When did you start seeing each other?
5. When did you meet each others relatives?
6. How long have you been living with each other? Who is living with you?
7. Have you been on a vacation recently? (He asked us twice in between these questions)
8. Tell me, who were with you on these vacation?
9. Did you stay at a hotel?where did you go?
10. Who paid for this trip?
11. So where is your spouse working? (This is where it seems like the officer was really testing me how well i knew my spouse)
12. Whats his position? (He then asked my spouse the nature of work)
13. Does your spouse work overtime?
14. What's your spouse's annual income?
15. How much rent do you pay? (Because i gave the lease contract late)
16. Who pays the rent? How long are you living in this address?
17. Do you host parties at your house? (He was joking since our address has a "fiesta" in it)
16. How old is your child?
17. When is her birthday?
18. So i want you to face each other and in 30 secs tell each other what made you decide to marry? (I was so nervous i just started saying whatever comes to mind that i liked and loved about my spouse)
19. So lets just go over your file.. ( this time i knew we were almost done) he just asked about whats in your i751 application so make sure you memorized everything from your name to your bday, to your socials, address, spouse bday, children's names and bdays etc..
He then turned his back and gave us a letter saying our application is approved and green card will be delivered in mail after 1month to 90days.
9:10am we were out the room and back to the reception where the lady was congratulating us probably because of the big smile on our faces.
My only advise is try to relax and be calm. Smile at your interviewer. Adjust to his/her pace and mood, if he's in a lighter mood smile from time to time. They can feel it if your lying or being truthful. Regarding documents we submitted, we gave him latest copies of our bills, most recent photos, lease contract (which was specifically asked on our interview appointment letter), tax documents, health, life and car insurance copies.
Hope you guys got an idea of the interview from our experience😊

cosmonauts reacted to arken in How to waive "2 year rule"? Applicant was not sponsored by any government
I was relating to your question on whether to apply for waiver before or after marriage. Look into the following for how to obtain the waiver. Possibly getting No Objection Letter may be easier.
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/study/exchange/waiver-of-the-exchange-visitor.html
you can also file i-612 if your claim of waiver is hardship or persecution in home country.

cosmonauts got a reaction from Boiler in How to apply to get California drivers licenses & social security card
At least when I applied for my DL, the requirements at the DMV in CA was to have at least and EAD card in hand. Don't apply for the AB60 DL as your fiance is NOT here undocumented. Take some time to look at the DMV website, they should have all the information there.
For the SSN, the I-94 should have been enough, but the card will say he is not allowed to work, yet. Once he gets a green card, you can ask for an updated/unrestricted SSN card.

Thanks for the responses. I have now booked my behind the wheel test for September. I drove to work today, instead of my husband driving me (don't worry he was in the passenger seat)
I also started studying for a TESOL teaching certificate to teach kids English, which was recommended by a fellow student at my college.
I'm taking small steps and I'm feeling better already.
Thanks guys!

cosmonauts got a reaction from Temi & Obim in Financial aid and grad school
The degree conversion might really depend on where you want to work. In my experience, private companies do not require it, and they rely more on experience. For public jobs, they WILL ask for it. I used http://www.iescaree.com/services.php for mine, as I work in the public education area.
I also am in grad school, in a state university. Don't go back to school just because you're bored! lol like others have said, it will be a huge investment of time and money, and you may be able to get a job just fine with your foreign degree and experience. My suggestion is that you find a place to volunteer (that's what I did, while my EAD was pending) or even find some classes at your local community college. In my case, I did not qualify for any grants because of my husband's income, which is way less that 100k. They only offered me loans, which suuuucked.

cosmonauts got a reaction from jeanieCZ in Courthouse wedding?
I was not a K-1, I did AOS from J-1 but our wedding was at the courthouse in San Bernardino (you can do walk-ins I think), we bought ring pops as "engagement rings", and bought simple wedding bands on Amazon for the day of. Later on we had more elaborate celebrations for the family.
As others have said, a legal wedding is more important than anything else. USCIS is not looking for traditional anything, as every couple is different. Real bonafide relationship is more important.
