Good luck to you,

We called the county court house and the lady told us that we only need to bring our photo ID and $18......my question is can we get the marriage certificate right away? or we need to wait for some marriage license ...etc? I dont know how it works and would like to know the easy and quick way to get this done.
Maybe this will help as well:
ID Requirement: Drivers license or identification card or other id showing current address and date of birth. Bringing a certified copy of your birth certificate is recommended because some counties require it if you are younger than 30.
Application Requirement: Both the bride and groom must appear in person at the time of applying.
Residency Requirement: Indiana residents must apply in the county in which one of them lives.
Waiting Period: No waiting period.
Previous Marriages: You will need to know how the marriages ended (death, divorce, annulment) and the month and year the marriages ended. A few counties require a copy of the divorce decree if divorced within the last two years.
Fees: Indiana residents: $18; residents of other states/countries: $60.
Personal checks not accepted.
You can look it all up here:

Enjoy your wedding

What I think you mean is that the K1 holder is not required to have another medical examination. Is this correct?
thats correct, i appologize....
thank you for answering...also, do you know by any chance the answer to my other question too?? if i need to have an HIV test?! ive never heard of it...i thought all i had to do is walk in there and show them the vaccination doc and they fill in the I693
thanks again...
I had to have an HIV Test for the medical back in my homecountry BEFORE I moved over here.
For the I-693a, I only had to have the vaccination information transferred.....no other testing...no medical...and certainly no 250 $ (mine was 80 $ I think....or 65 $? I forgot already )
My advice: Look for another doctor who will let you just transfer the vaccinations onto the I-693a.

Then I'm totally confused. The subject says "Death of husband, Removal of conditions". Not knowing what kind of visa she had, if she was married for 8 months wouldn't she have already gotten her conditional green card and now needs to remove the conditions?
No, she apparently does NOT have the conditional greencard (she wrote that she was supposed to have the greencard interview in April, which then was the month after her husband passed away). It also took me 9 months to get my conditional green card, and there are others out there for whom it took even longer.
So, no, it's perfectly normal that she didn't get her conditional GC before her husband's passing.
Unfortunately, I have no advice to give in this case, since it's so complicated (it would of course have been a lot easier if the conditional GC had been given already).
I met Teaser in another Forum and referred her to you all, since I hoped that there might be someone out here who would know a solution for her situation.
I remember waiting all those months for my conditional GC, and the thought of what would happen to me if my husband passed away before AOS was approved did pass through my mind as well. Luckily, the worst-case scenario did not happen, but that's why I can sympathize with Teaser really well
Well, as I said, maybe someone here knows some kind of a solution.....
@Teaser: All the best and good luck,
CW
PS @ Teaser: Kitkat is right, though, the title of the thread is misleading. Maybe you should consider changing it to something like "Death of husband before Greencard approval" or so
-
We had one copy sealed to submit with AOS and one copy unsealed for our own records.
Same here.
The main thing is, that, yes, the copy for USCIS does HAVE to be in a sealed envelope.
-
Shouldn't the removal of conditions have come right after the divorce (and BEFORE the 2nd marriage)...?
As far as I know, in such cases, the 2 year waiting time with the conditional greencard does not apply anymore....
But I could be wrong

Congrats and herzliche Glueckwuensche
It's a nice feeling to have that little card in your hand, isn't it...?

Anyone knows if
Changed name should appear on Marriage License or Certificate?
I would think the templete of the Marriage License or Certificate is different in each State or even County. In my case, there was no place where to type the new name.
I agree....same here, but I heard it differently from other states
-
CONGRATS! for receiving your greencard CWR!
THANKS
Sure feels good to finally hold that card in my hand
-
Thanks again + congrats to the newest approvals
My greencard was in the mail today (together with the notice of approval)
Good luck to everyone who is still waiting, may your process be speedier than mine was
CW
PS: Was there maybe a mistake in updating the CSC lists...? Milka is now back on the red "waiting" list, but I thought she had been approved a few days ago...? Or did I miss something....?
-
Yeah....I'm not the last one on the blue list anymore
Congrats and herzliche Glueckwuensche, Ilka
CW
PS: One thing that puzzles me a bit: I only got messages that the "approval notice was sent out".....but no messages about "card production ordered", even though I was approved a few days before you.....is it normal, that some people don't get all possible messages...?
-
Hooray and Hallelujah......that was a fast one
Congrats and herzlichen Glueckwunsch!!
Have fun celebrating

I made a list of USCIS docs in my area as well and called them all. 7 out of 8 refused, but # 8 transfered the information for $ 65.
Personally, I would definitely send in the I-693a, since I would not want the hassle and the delay of an RFE.....and yes, people here have been getting RFEs for missing vaccination supplements. (Of course, there are also people here who have been approved without it, but - as I said - I would not want to take the risk.
But everyone has to decide that for himself.
-
Maybe all cases 6 months outside of processing should be moved to California?
I second that
Too bad no one at USCIS cares about our ideas and opinions
-
it sounds like my passport photo. Maybe that's how they know they're not fake, cos the pictures are so "unflattering"
That's what I told my husband....I said they'd approve our case just because they felt sorry for him that he ended up with someone looking like that picture
-
Wow....that zabasearch is interesting...
There is another woman with my name listed in Georgia and Indiana (seems to be the same person though). She was born 17 years before me and has a different middle name.....but I still wonder whether her existence might have been the reason that it took so long for my approval after the CSC transfer....?
-
Hey, CWR
Is it just me, or do you ever feel like crying/punching something/someone when people go "Omg! I was transferred to CSC yesterday and today I got my welcome email!"?
Is it just me? Am I just insane?
(PS: Yes, I realize you're WAY ahead of my husband as far as wait time at CSC, so we shouldn't be bitching -- but damn it, over two months since the last touch and pretty close to 3 months since transfer can really drive a person up a wall.)
I hear you
I was always trying to ignore the feeling of envy......but I do admit seeing processing times of two weeks or so after the transfer made me quite frustrated sometimes
I already posted in the CSC thread, I have good news: I was approved today (6 months and 10 days after the transfer). Let's hope that everyone else's processing time will be A LOT shorter!!
Good luck,
CW

People, you won't believe it
I am hereby giving up the coveted top spot on the "CSC waiting" list.......
Got not just one approval e-mail today, but seven
(All with the same text, of course...."On Nov. 30, we have ordered production of your new card bla bla....")
After more than six months of sitting under the coffee machine at CSC, my file must have been rediscovered by someone
I AM APPROVED !!!!!
Good luck to all the others who are still waiting, especially to the former # 2 spot who is now promoted to "longest waiting" on the list
Just wanted to share my good news with you
Take care,
CW

At the time you can also apply for work authorization and the right for her to leave the country before her Green Card arrives.
[...]
If I have written anything wrong here, someone let me know.
Not wrong, but personally I would not advise her to apply for and use the Advvance Parole and leave the country BEFORE she has the greencard in hand.
The AP does not guarantee re-entry......even though in most cases you probably wouldn't have any problems, but after an illegal stay of 2 years, I would feel very apprehensive about trying it
-
so what does she need to have (paperwork) to obtain the marriage license?
I have never been married and am not sure where to go with someone who is not a US citizen. Do we have to go to Tennessee or something? I heard that certain states do not require the SS card. She has her expired I 94, Canadian Green Card, Birth Cert. Divorce papers. ID/passport document.
Look here for marriage license requirements for the different states:
http://www.usmarriagelaws.com/
Usually it's really easy to obtain a marriage license....of course, it's the easiest in Vegas, but since she's illegal, I probably would try to get married somewhere closer to home (why take chances by traveling).
Just make sure to have her file for AOS right after you get married. That's the most important thing, since you want to change her status to legal immigrant as soon as possible.
All the best for the two of you,
CW

I sent my I-360 Petition was received at the Texas service center on April 13 and it was transferred to CSC on August 9. I thought that was a good thing. I thought it would speed things up. Well, now I called the USCIS info line and it says "please allow 180 days after TRANSFER date before inquiring about a pending case" OH MY GOD! Does anybody know if they use the April 13 date or the August 9 date? The way it looks, I am going to wait almost a FULL YEAR before I even get an answer since my new receipt date is on August 9.
First of all: Calm down
Look at the approval timelines in the CSC thread and you'll see that most people (with me as the notable exception) are approved in way less than 180 days. What are the people supposed to say who are not transferred at all and have been waiting for an interview date for months and months.....??
That aside, it says "180 days from the date of the transfer". Your transfer was August 9, so of course, that's when your 180 days start.
And, just to let you know what happens AFTER 180 days pass with nothing happening:
After that time, USCIS will just tell you that they "put an inquiry on your case" and that you "should receive some information within 3-4 weeks". I am still waiting.....
As I said, look in the CSC transfer thread and look at the timelines there......most probably your approval will happen before the 180 days have passed.
Good luck,
CW
EDIT: I just realized that you wrote "I-360 petition"......all the others in the CSC thread are I-485 transfers (including me)......I don;t know whether that makes a difference.
I did get the same message as you with the "180 days...", so I would think it's similar, but of course, you never know.....
It's interesting information, though, that other kinds of cases besides the I-485s are being transfered as well

Congratulations, that was a fast one

You asked Kiminon, but since my Greencard came in the same type of envelope:
Yes, I did get that e-mail where they said "application was approved, we issued you a card, etc. (or something like that)
I also received another e-mail telling me that they mailed out the approval notice....the approval notice was in my mailbox the same day as the Greencard
