  2. The USC birth certificate in the petition is to establish proof of US citizenship for the petitioner. If you also sent in copies of your passport pages, you might not get an RFE. Did you also fill in the form where it asks if you were known by any other name?

I was in a similar situation (had my name changed when I was a boy) and I submitted copies of the court order indicating such. You might be able to get a copy of that court order, or perhaps a simple notification that your name has been changed, or the adoption papers themselves. Name changes are public record as well.

Surprisingly enough, one of the things they asked in the interview at the consulate to Jane was why I had my name changed!

In any event, I don't think you'll get an RFE

  3. You can't do a medical before you have an interview date. Once you have an interview date, you will call the doctor and they will make an appointment two weeks before the interview. We were also wondering and thinking that it made more sense to schedule the medical before the interview (in order to make sure the medical was "available" before doing the interview), but when we called the doctor they told us that they can't give us a medical if we don't have an appointment.

  4. So Jane got her passport yesterday, exactly two weeks after the interview. For reference, it took exactly a week for the CEAC status to change to "Issued", and 6 days (including a weekend, so 4 business days) to get a waybill number.

It seems the visas are actually printed in Quito, which might explain why embassy pickup is not an option. Our DHL waybill showed the shipment coming from Quito.

We did call DHL on Thursday after the tracking status said it was ready, and they told us to come on Friday - however we decided to take a trip to Policentro/San Marino anyway, and they had it already. The Policentro DHL is tiny btw, we were expecting something much bigger.

The magic packet is fairly thick, and we didn't get any magic letter (we were reading about how some shipments come with a letter, but ours only came with the passport and a brown envelope that was sealed with GYQ's stamp)

  5. So... we had our interview today and... WE ARE APPROVED!!! :D

My fiancé and I spent 3 hours at the Paris embassy before we were called up for the interview, which was only 2 questions: how/when we met, and what I (the American petitioner) do for a living. That's it!

Thank you so much to everyone in this thread for all your help. Congrats to everyone else who has been approved, and for everyone still waiting, hang in there! It's worth it!

    Congratulations!!! :D

    - Jane

  6. Sign up at https://usvisa-info.com/and schedule your interview there. See SantyAndAllie's post about the Guayaquil consulate here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/110313-us-consulate-in-guayaquil-ecuador/page-24#entry7682963

(Read the entire thread there from the beginning to get some info about this consulate...)

Also see our review of the consulate here: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/view-dos-cis-reviews.php?entry=17589

Since you're a K1, the NVC doesn't schedule anything for you. Wait for your case status to be "Ready" and then call the consulate and see if they have your file (or you can wait a few days for them to send you an email with the "Packet 4").

  7. Our CEAC status just changed to Issued after 2 days in AP:

    U.S. Department of State
    NONIMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION
    Issued
Application ID or Case Number: GYQ2015XXXXXX 01 GYQ Case Creation Date: 24-Aug-2015 Status Updated Date: 26-Aug-2015
Your visa is in final processing. If you have not received it in more than 10 working days, please see the webpage for contact information of the embassy or consulate where you submitted your application.

For more information, please visit U.S. Consulate General Guayaquil.
  8. Hi all - Just wanted to provide you all with an update on our interview last week. So my fiancé went by herself, I had planned to go but decided last minute to wait and go pick her when the visa is ready instead, and it went really smooth. She got through the whole thing no issues, except that.., don't ask me how, I forgot to include the Affidavit of Support (AS) form. So they handed her back her passport and white sheet of paper to return the following Thursday 8/27, with the (AS) form and her passport so they can begin processing the visa. Yes, it was bitter sweet but ultimately we are happy and moving forward with preparations for my visit and her soon departure.

The following day, last Friday, I emailed the Embassy with the (AS) form attached and a couple of more forms pertaining to financial support. I also asked if they can provide her an earlier date than Thursday. Well I got an email this morning letting me know that all the papers they received from me were sufficient and that all they needed was for her to bring her passport in on Wednesday 8/26, a day earlier. So we are super excited!! Best of luck to all still waiting, much prayers!

I'm happy to hear it all went ok and that they only want her passport. So they only needed the email and didn't need a hard copy? I guess it's good they will just let her come in with the passport rather than having to wait to mail it.

We'll keep on praying for you all!

Our CEAC status just changed to "Administrative Processing". I hope that's the "good" kind of AP
