Bhangra music. :-)
Specifically the song Mittran Da Na Chalda

I remember a news story about someone naming their son after the channel ESPN. I guess they decided to pronounce it "s-pin".

Lucifer??

Hummm....thanks for the answers. Interesting way to keeping track but it seems like you can't have as many unique names in this way. And it has got to be interesting with cultural names from foreign countries.
That said, I think it is great that Germany at least supplmements the income of every mother and child.

Great! These all sound really helpful. I will have to try the mosquito one. My mosquito bites get to be the size of a peanut!!

My friend recently moved to Germany and was telling me that if you have a baby in Germany that you have to give it a German name. What?? Is this true or is she misinformed? And something about having to show it was a boy's name vs. a girl's name. I was totally surpised and caught off guard on hearing this.
So just curious, is this true? You really have to find an authentic German name for a newborn?

Yup, the K-3 visa is a multiple entry visa. If you look at the actual visa, I think you will even see "M" noting that fact.
Answer on USCIS website too:
"Can I Travel Outside the United States?
If you are in K-3 or K-4 status, you may travel using your unexpired K-3/K-4 nonimmigrant visa to travel outside of the United States and return, even if you are applying for adjustment of status simultaneously."

P.S...a little scary that the person you talked to couldn't find this info!!
-
No, as a K3 holder you cannot apply for a SSN until you have your EAD in hand. So you can choose to AOS and apply for EAD at the same time. That is what we did. We got our EAD card, applied for SSN at that time.

Nice job! Congrats.

Yes, visa is required. Fee of $45 and $15 for mailing of the passport back to the applicant.
Unfortunately, if you have never applied for a German visa before, you have to show up in person to hand in all relevant documentation. (<vent>that is silly! They only have 9 consulates and they except you to fly to one of those 9 cities? </vent.)

Excellent question. I was just wondering that myself. I could have sworn (but don't count on this...I have to find the email first) that I emailed the Germany Embassy and they said that if the person had a I551 stamp or or permanent residency card in the US, that they did not reqire a visa. I was sent a PDF of some inter office memo, and now if I could just find it......

Congrats and have fun celebrating!

You can go to India every year, twice a year if you want. But as the other posts have said, there is a certain limit to how long you are able to stay out of the country. I don't think you have to come back in three months though (you are proably thinking about airlines that offer 90 day fares or they are more expensive).
-
Nope, it is not green. It'll have your picture from the biometrics appointment (not the passport photo or anything).
We got ours within two weeks of the interview and approval.

My husband came on the K3 and went in the non-USC line.
Remember, they will have to put all her info into the system, check fingerprint records, stamp her I94, passport etc.

It looks legit and has found the cheapest travel to India so far.
www.air-savings.com
But I am still hestiant as I have been searching ALL OVER and not found a price near theirs.
Any advice?

Wow, I didn't realize policies can change!!!
I think my point was that it did NOT work for my cousin to have only a co-sponser and to show himself as having no income and what the attidtude of the Indian Embassy was at that time.

Stroppy cow...lol...I am going to have to use that one sometime.
Congrats!

I assume you are not a natural born citizen of the US and gained citizenship through Naturalization. There is a certificate that you receive when you become a US citizen, and they are asking for a copy of this (as proof of your citizenship) for your wife's interview.
Don't worry that the certificate says you are not supposed to make copies of it. I found out that it is ok to make copies if the copies are for US govt. use.

Yes, I would see if immigration has anything to say about it. Or if anyone on VJ has experienced this lately
Several years ago, my cousin's wife was asked in her Delhi interivew to provide support for her visa. She had only the co-sponsor's paperwork (a blood Uncle) and the CO asked her if her husband was going to feed and clothe her or did she expect her husband's uncle to do it? She was asked to come back for a second interview, with proof of sponsorship from her husband and not just a co-sponsor. Snotty huh? Maybe things have changed over the years or the sponsorship requirements have....
Did your fiancee fill out an tax returns at all? Does she work in the school library or anything? Anything she can show for finances is probably a good idea (regardless of how little it might be).
Good Luck!!

Congratulations! Sounds a lot like our interview!

Only one year of difference for us. But there is no radio choice to vote for that! The poll starts at 6 years!
OMG! Nearly turned away on visit to UK!

OMG, "and she said that she works for UK Immigrations, not me, and that "things are tightening up". Ok, that made me laugh. But seriously, how lame!
I guess the VWP thing doesn't apply quite so much in this case?
