  1. We applied for a Schengen visa to visit Germany last year. We booked our flights and then went for the visa. Although I think they just ask for a copy of your flight itinerary, so technically, you can book something, print out the itinerary and then cancel it within 24 hours (or whatever the airlines policy is).

Do you think that would that work?

Do you have airline miles you can use to buy the ticket? Those are easier to cancel.

  2. Ok, so I am not talking about 1995 when you'd stick a cassette into your boom box and wait for your favorite song to come on the radio.

I listen to an online radio and they play some great songs on there (and you can pick and request too) and a lot of them are remixes and can't be found anywhere. Is there a way to record songs from online radio to your laptop as an mp3? Is there software available or anything people have tried?

  3. I remember a friend once telling me about something she referred to as "emotional cheating". You don't have to be physical with someone in order to cheat. If your SO is sharing his/her close feelings, dreams, daily thoughts etc. with someone other than YOU, than that's a problem.

  4. You dont really need the letter from the Consulate to get Medical done as long as you got your interview date, just PRINT the PDF for it.

Since you already have the NWD/BMB/MDR Number from NVC, check their website for interview date, here is the link for Delhi(I'm assuming you are from delhi, you can find the links to Visas to US --> Immigrat visa --> Appointments)

    http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/visa_interview_dates.html

    http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/interview_appt_schedule.html

    http://chennai.usconsulate.gov/appointment_schedule.html

As long as its in Appointments, you can get Medical done, PRINT the PDF, you can always get Local and Passport Police Clearence with out any appointment.

This is my experience from I-130 I did for my parents, they didnt get interview letter, but had the date in Appointment section so they got medical and PC done.

    Good Luck!

Thanks for the links. I guess I have to wait till mid Oct to see if mine is in for November...

Hey one more great news. As most of you know, my wife is 7 months pregnant and I am in India trying to expedite things for her VISA so she can have the baby in US. Well, I sent an email over to the embassy this morning explaining things and at 4pm I went to the embassy. When I got there, they knew of my wife being pregnant. I guess they must have read my email from morning. I explained things further to them and after 10 mins of pleasant conversation with them...they assigned me a Nov. 1st date for our interview! kicking.gif I was really trying to get something in Oct, but that is good enough. I am really happy today. yes.gif

Congrats! Great news. Make sure you are able to add her to your insurance. Some have a wait time when you add a new beneficary (even a spouse) so make sure you check everything out. And get all the Okays from the doctors that travel that late in pregnancy. Some airlines even have restrictions about how late in your pregnancy they'll let you travel (especially on a long flight like Asia to the US).

  5. I thought it was over, the asami looking fello won. The one whose the constable, wasn't that a repeat or a different show?

Nope, you are right. Indian Idol was won by Prashant, the Police guy. What a loooong finale show they had for that too.

But the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa finale is supposed to be this weekend. It's down to three finalists.

  6. Sorry you didn't get a November interview date. :crying:

I have never heard of a successful request for an earlier interview date. However, people have successfully changed their set interview to a LATER date.

Hahahah....and one would hope they gave those time slots to someone who wanted an earlier time.

I would write the embassy and ask if you can be placed on a list of people willing to take last minute appointements due to cancellation or requests like ELW mentions.

  7. Definitely time. K3 brought us together at least 6 months sooner. In those six months, he was able to get acclimated. With the Cr1, having the immediate ability to work is nice but not if you're entering a different culture and need time to acquaint yourself in the first place.

With the AOS fees as high as they are now, I don't know which one I would choose today. Time apart or money?

  8. I'd have to search and look it up, but there is a website that lets you put in all your requirements for shipping (kind of car, dates of shipment, cities) and you'd get back 5-6 different quotes. It sure saved you from entering the same information into 5 different websites.

We were able to compare prices too. We had a car shipped and it cost us about $900. (From west to midwest). But it was worth it not put the mileage on the car (and the week ito take off from work to make the actual trip).

  9. Even if you had the choice between "undoing" your wedding, it would be best to go with the truth. Especially if you feel you have red flags in the first place.

I think as long as people have seen you interact with each other, can write letters to that regard, that will be helpful. Do you speak the same language? Send those copies of your passport pages showing entry into Nepal.

    G'luck!

  10. Yeah, having a "PTO" (paid time off) bank helps because you can store your days for real vacation and not feel like you have to finish off vacation time before the end of the year.

PS...best to call FIRST thing in the morning when you're still laying in bed, heavy voice and barely coherent. Or set the alarm, call at like 6am and leave a voicemail....

  11. That's too bad. I made sure my husband asked for a duplicate medical report when he went for his medical. I emailed my husband a copy of the supplement medical form that is needed for AOS and he asked the physician to fill it out and place it into a sealed envelope. His physican did this and that is what we used for AOS. We were fine doing this and received no RFE.

If the medical goes with the brown envelope at POE, I think you'll need to have that supplemental form (search the formus, I forget its exact number) filled out by a physician in the US.

  12. That's interesting that dates are really starting to be pushed out. When we interviewed for the K3 (almost 2 years ago now), we didn't have to submit anything before hand. They just sent a letter with the interview date, and forms to fill out (including the medical) and bring to the interview.

  13. Yes, the I130 will be kept behind if you do nothing to go the next step (pay fee, agent of choice paperwork etc.). I

Some people would advise that if you had both approved at the same time, try going for the CR1. It will save you money by not having to apply for AOS (I think its lke $1000 now?). It may take a few extra months but the fact that you have NOA2 for both shows that it is moving quickly for you.
