  1. What does the K3 visa look like when you get it from the consulate? Is it stamped in the passport or is it in a sealed envelope like the CR1? Is it true that if you have a sealed CR1 with no stamp in your passport you cannot travel through european hubs?

BTW, K3 visa is stamped into your passport (if you have an Indian visa in your passport, it's the same size). It'll have her type of visa (K3) and expiry date for the K3. The sealed envelope will just contain what they need to process her paperwork at the airport.

  2. First of all......I am not trying to sell their products, nor am I a representative.

But I am curious what the impressions of AVON products are for people. When I was growing up, AVON was more like "your mom's makeup" than anything else. Lately, my friend has gotten me hooked on their face cleaning products. And I am surprised at the prices, better than my regular cleansers.

Has this company really gotten better or am I just getting old?

  3. I see a lot of posts here of people who have NOA1 in hand, but their physical green card has expired.

What kind of experiences have people had with entering another country with your expired green card (and extension letter).

How does US customs treat you when you re-enter?

Finally, has anyone tried to get a visa to another country (UK or France for example) and had to submit their expired green card as US residencey proof??

  4. If you get a K-3 visa, you cannot also get a CR-1. It´s an either/or situation. I think if you don´t file for AOS, the visa expires and is revoked.

Also, lately, I-130s are being approved BEFORE K-3s, so that will totally change your idea as well.

I'm not sure this is correct. When I was doing the K3 for my husband, we also were thinking of having him return to India for the CR1 interview while entering on the K3. There were no restrictions at that time. Only to keep the I130 "alive" by continuing to pay all the fees and filling out the associated paperwork.

Its not an either/or situation. Because if you don't file for AOS, your K3 is valid for 2 years, more than enough time for the CR1 to go through.

If you are still interested in doing this, I would check it out a bit more. You can always email the Delhi/Mumbai embassy and see what they say.

  5. I'm scheduled to be in Barcelona for two weeks for company business and I was hoping to tack on an extra week of vacation and vist some relatives in Germany. I haven't had much success in searching for a cost effective way to get from Barcelona to Bonn or Cologne in Germany.

Is euro rail my best bet? Are there low cost airlines I should look into? Should I try for Frankfurt and then take a local train from there?

Any advice or help would be appreciated!

Also...I plan on spending the weekend sightseeing in Barcelona but now am also wondering if I can take a day excursion into Italy?? Any Barcelona natives that can help me out?

    Thanks!

  6. With your Indian passport, you don't need a Canadian visa to visit.

    Look at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp

Normally, an Indian citizen needs a visa but you ar exempt because they state "persons lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence who are in possession of their alien registration card (Green card) or can provide other evidence of permanent residence".

Sounds like you'll be OK with just your extension letter and the orginial expired green card with you.

  7. I hope this does not come down as sounding judgemental, but as someone who watched a close family member "come out" and tell everyone he was married, (two years after the fact), it is one of the most hurtful and selfish things you can do.

The family members have essentially been lied to and led on. After my cousin revealed the truth, I can't even begin to describe how his sister felt. All those times she talked to her brother, now finding out there was someone else in that room, listening to that conversation. When her brother would come out and visit for a holiday, now understanding why he left the room to make phone calls, why he never seemed to be around for any holidays in the first place. The truth that he was spending time with his new wife's family and not them....painful. The feeling of losing out on two years of someone's life that they've essentially lied about.

Anyone who gets into any type of intercultural, inter-relgious marriage has got to be ready for the "consequences" and family reactions.

  8. I don't have any better options to offer (expect to try Lufthansa or British Airways, they seem to have the most flights out to India)....but be sure you are aware of the "one suitcase" restriction for any flights from Europe to India.
