    I had my interview today.

6 civic questions and more questions on N400 form. It was a very friendly atmosphere. If you have your 2019 tax, bring it with you. I didn’t bring mine but it was asked.

At the end, the officer said I was approved and wait for my oath taking schedule in the waiting area.

In 20 mins, I got the schedule of my oath taking for Thursday May 11th ❤️

I am thankful for today and wishing everyone the best of luck 🙏

I thought we would be out of status.

I checked my Driver's license and for some reasons, it is still valid for another year from the expiration of my 1 year extension.

If I would still be legal to work, I will not worry then. Thank you!

Frustrating IS an understatement. We just got a response back from our most recent service request in December. We got the same response that we did in September: we have been placed in the appointment queue and will be notified when we are scheduled. It's just so annoying because people after us are getting their biometrics letters and here we are 6 months later without anything. Well....guess we're getting strapped in for a long ride. Time to read up more on getting a stamp.

Speaking of Amazing processing times.  You can read how slow the I-751 applications have become.

Yes you can, you can apply 3 months before the 3 year anniversary of your sponsored visa. I heard mix results about the implications of doing that though, some people say your RoC has to be finished first in order to be approved for citizenship, others say it speeds up the process.
  18. Thanks

    Yes, you can.
"Early Filing: An applicant filing as the spouse of a U.S. citizen under section 319(a) of the INA may file up to 90 days before meeting the required 3-year period of continuous residence as an LPR."
    https://www.uscis.gov/system/files_force/files/form/n-400instr.pdf    p.4

And if your I-751 is still pending by the time of your N-400 interview, you might have two-in-one.. Seems like it's happening now more often,  due to "amazing" processing time of I-751...

Healthcare is USUALLY provincial, and is dependent on residence, however I know that in my province you are covered by default for TWO MONTHS after the time you leave. You can also apply with the regional health authority for extended coverage beyond that, even if you move out of the country. Check your regional health care website!

Taxes you don't pay to Canada from the point of entry onwards. You do pay taxes up to that point. If you still earn income from Canada after you enter the US though, you declare that as "foreign income" on your IRS forms.

You still get CPP. You can cash that out the same way as before... I believe there's even a method of converting it into an American plan, but I haven't looked into it much. For things like RRSPs, there is a ton of info on cashing them out and moving them over the the US with as little fee / tax as possible. Most people suggest you simply leave it in a Canadian plan until you retire. These don't stop working for you when you move.

You CAN still vote. There are definitely ways to register to vote even when you live abroad.

    Hi, guys
Just got back from our biometric appointment.
It was scheduled for 8.00 a.m., we were here at 7.30 - not intentionally , just the road..

They did let us in, and about 7.45 gave us, all people who were already in, some kind of application from to fill out, along with a "serial" number. I was #1, my son was #2  At 8.00 a.m. exactly they took me in. 10 minutes - done. Next
So, it took 1 hour 40 minutes each way ..to be done  for, actually, 30 minutes

There were a couple, they were trying to make an early walk in. They were told to wait and see how everything goes and iof there is an available spot. I don't think they will be denied.. It was St.Louis, MO. People there were very friendly and helpful.

P.S. Of course, when we got home, I found son's biometric appointment notice in the mail box... So if his ASC Notice was not faxed to me few days ago, he would've definitely missed his  appointment today.

For now, I guess, we are done   -  seems like it will be a while before we hear anything back.

Anyway, good luck to every one!!!

Just got home from my biometrics too. My appointment was for 9:30am. I came in at 9:15am, it took 15 mins all in all.

The staff were so nice and friendly, and yes they accept walk in, for those who want to do it earlier than their scheduled appointment.

I am grateful it is done, and the waiting game begins lol..

Heading to work in the afternoon

    You are welcome:)

Definitely try it!! The main  - to be transferred to a Tier 2, who has a real access to your case and can see what's going on..

Good luck tomorrow!!!!  I know, it's a pain to reach  someone who could really help you - will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Well.. I wish you have reached a Tier 2 IO - that person could've looked up at your case, using your A-#, and you would've known if your biometric appointment has been already scheduled.. Just to make sure you are not missing this..

Her is the "steps" how I've reached a Ttier 2 (I've done it 3 times and it always worked  )

    1. Call this amazing line 1 800-375-5283
    2. Yes, press 1 for English.
    3. DO NOT press 2. You are right, it won't recognize your NOA1 #, so listen to the end. There will be an option, the last one before "repeat "   - for any other questions press star key. This IS your option.
    3. After "long robot speech"  press 4 "to reach services for LPR"
    4. then 1 - again  "to reach services for LPR"
    5. press 3, then 2..

yes' it's a long way and again  - first person you'll talk will be a Tier 1. And they will tell you the standard thing about 30 days and your eligibility to put a service request.  Great!  Listen and after that ask if they could look and tell if your biometric was scheduled.. because you don't really want to miss it.. At this point, usually, they offer you to be transferred to a Tier 2 IO ,or at least you can ask for tha at this point - only a Tier 2 IO has an access to your case.

P.S. My son's biometric appointment has never arrived, and when I got a chance to speak with a Tier 2 Immigration Officer (steps above ),  he confirmed that an appointment was scheduled.. He was so helpful and kind , that he faxed the copy of  ACS Notice to me, because there was no way the copy of the Notice would've found us BEFORE actual appointment .. I understand it's not happening every day, but it's worth to try..

    Good luck!!!

    Hi
I'm glad I-865 was filed regardless you were told your wife doesn't have to..

I-865 instruction states this very clear : "If at any time in the past you completed Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, to sponsor an immigrant, you are required to report your change of address within 30 days of the change if the sponsorship agreement is still in force."

There is nothing about "spousal exclusion " to report such change in the instruction. Or  - that only co-sponsor has to report a change of address - not a word. Your USC wife completed Form I-864 - she is a sponsor. Simple. Period.

... I agree with people in that thread you've been linked to - probably, there is no "punishment" for not submitting Form I-865 within 30 days or at all... But once it's been learnt the I-865 had to be provided, - it's really  a good idea to submit it now and send a copy of that (AR-11 & I-865) along with your I-751 package.

    Good luck!!!!
