  1. Just a quick comment, you can renew your Canadian passport in a much shorter time than that. Using the old form you can get a US guarantor - one of the professionals previously allowed - get a professional camera place to do the passport photographs to meet Canadian (not American) standards and send it by courier - I got my application and expiring passport sent off and the new one and canceled old one returned in less than 2 weeks last January. I too expected it would take months, especially with the new Guarantors requirement.

Oh, and congratulations on your approval!

Thanks!! How much did it cost you and where do I get the form?

  2. Well I recieved an email yesterday from USCIS stating they removed the conditions and my green card is ordered. So I copied that and took it down to Adecco and the chick still wouldn't accept that. She gave me a paper to sign that said I was contesting what immigration told Adecco ( that they can't verify my status) She said I had 8 days to call this number at Department of Homeland Security Immigration Status Verifyer , or else I could be fined.

So I called this number and they said I had to fax a copy of my expired green card ( front & back), my extension letter and the email that states my card is in production.

What a freakin pain, just to get listed with a clerical staffing company!

I'll have to do that tomorrow as I can't today.

First, congratulations on the good news on your green card. Second, I wouldn't put up with that staffing agency, there are soooo many of them out there. WHy don't you try going to a different one? I know it's a pain to get tested and everything. When I was looking for a job, I registered with 4 different ones.

    Good luck!

This is the 3rd agency I've applied at and no other one asked for this stuff.

  4. I don't have a drivers license or state ID. I have Military Spouse ID though.

My SSA says : in red " wish authorization to work" on it.

You should be able to visit SSA and get the card replaced, using expired green-card and extension letter.

To prove employment eligibility all you need is on item from A OR (an item from B AND C) on form I-9

A, 2. Permanent Resident Card or Alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-551), OR 3. An unexpired foreign passport with a temporary I-551 stamp

    OR

    B, 6. Military dependent's ID card, AND;

C, 1. U.S. Social Security card issued by the Social Security Administration (other than a card stating it is not valid for employment)

Thanks! Tomorrow I will go to the Gov building and get a new SSA

Thanks everyone for all your help. I am getting so depressed over all this. :(

  5. Can someone please help???

I applied to remove conditions back in February 2008. Had Biometrics in February as well. I was sent a letter stating they would extend my Greencard for 1 year.

I went to apply for a job thru Adecco (it's a clerical referral firm) Did all the testing, paperwork, etc... She told me she wasn't sure I could work because my green card had expired. I brought the extension letter with me and she photocopied it. She said she would call to verify that I could work.

She just called me back and said that she called them and they said they couldn't verify that I am able to work.

I know I could probably make an info pass appt. and get a stamp in my passport but the problem is, my Canadian passport expired last year. It will take months to send it in and have a new one made. I can't be out of a job that long!

She said that the letter of extension doesn't say the date of which the extension starts. The extension letter is dated feb 13/2008

    HELP!!!!!! :crying:

  6. If I have to hear one more news commentary on David Archeleta I think I am going to puke!

What is the matter with these Utahn people?? Have they never seen a celeb before??! OMG! Every 10 minutes they have to update us on David whogivesafu*karcheleta. Just cus he's from Utah!!!!

They have little kids walking around here with signs saying, "I don't like "Cook"ing! I love David Archuleta."

Unfortunatly, even if David Cook wins us living in Utah will never hear the end of David Archuleta.

My husband changes the channel as soon as he hears the first note of the American Idol melody.

It's not allowed in our home, period! He has to quickly change the channel on the news cast as soon as they even mention the name David. lol

UGH!! I wish the would get over it already!!!

YAYYYYYYYYYYYY !! It's finally over. David won ! lol So glad our regular News programming won't be inundated with David Archelta now.

  7. When I came thru Vancouver International Airport. They stamped my passport. I had no idea that they had given me authorization to work. Since so many ppl in VJ stated that K-1ers won't get authorization except for JFK Airport, I didn't even look at what they stamped. I only looked at it once we were ready to file for AOS. I was more than peeved knowing that I could have been working all that time if only I had looked and not taken everyone's word on VJ. Oh well, live & learn.

    So, lesson learned....

If you're coming on a k-1 visa. Either ask them to stamp it or make sure you look at it after they take it and your information.

  9. I wish I could've stayed in Canada and he moved there. But I couldn't and I'm not, so ya make do with the decisions you're dealt with.

I think it really depends on the state you live in. I'm in Utah. Obviously the religious aspect of this state bodes heavy on everything here. People can say all they want about it, but the LDS church pretty much owns this state. Everything is determined upon them.

The wages here are terrible. The health care is terrible, They aren't very accepting of newcomers here (in my state), especially when they find out your not of thier religion.

I made much more money, had more money to do fun things , travelled , lived in a nice place back home in Canada. Here, were just going paycheck to paycheck and I have to admit it's very depressing to me.

But one thing that helps is that my hubby & I are together, we went thru alot to be together (not the typical easy visa process:You can read about that by clicking on my name ad reading our story)

We're optimistic and hoping that things will be even better in the future.

  10. Hey Lily, that sounds almost too good to be true. I would definitely be interested in something like that, if it's legitimate. I am working part-time right now, but I could sure use some extra income to help pay for my daughter's moving expenses this September to go to a new university.

Let me know if you find anything out.

    Rayma

Well, most of those order processing scams want you to pay them $100.00 or more. This one is only $9.00

I just quit my job on Tuesday and I need to find a job soon. I had an interview today at a local Vetrinarian's Office so I'm hoping I'll get it. They seemed really interested with all the experience I have.

Just thought if there was some quick way to make some extra cash this( Home base business) might be something I could do in the meantime.

  12. My co-workers and I are having a discussion on where the "TOP" of a cart is.

I say its the very top of the cart naturally, where the black graphics are.

They say its what I consider the "Counter" or Table of the Cart.

Can you guys help me out? which is it?

    47b8db24b3127ccea81bf20fbaf90000002.jpg

I agree with you. The top area (the black section) is the cart, while the lower area could be classified as a desk or shelving unit. The only explanation I could come up with as to why your coworkers might believe that's the "top of the cart" is if the "real top" was sold separately and added on later. If that were the case, then they might be referring to what was once the top, but is now no longer the top. Otherwise, I have no idea what they're getting at.

Nope, it was already put together with Signage on the "Top" and an Advertisment vinyl spanning the whole table portion of the cart. He took the vinyl off the table portion instead of the Signage on the "Top" where the black graphics are in this photo.
