    somone told me a trick about it I cant remember now, but something like if you dont hear a ring at the beginning then you are going to get an automated machine which will hang up on you. So if you dont hear a ring hang up immediately, and keep calling again until you hear a ring. Once you hear a short ring at the beginning of the call that means your call will get to a human. I hope I remembered this correctly!

    I feel very guilty now posting that my teenager and I got our passports back today, Visas intact. 
     
    Thank you all so much for dealing with my crazy nerves! I hope the Sept/Oct DQs hear soon...

    The last time I called, they were pretty insistent that they had no power over the consulate. The consulate is like this micro-nation that no one has any power over and it's totally insulated. 
     
    I would call but it doesn't seem worth the long distance minutes to be told there's nothing I can do 😞 If anyone is in the US tho and has the time, feel free to be the vessel of my despair and channel my suffocating sadness as best you can.

    I'm so broken. I am legit looking up log cabins to buy so I can be a hermit while this plays out. I seriously am going to go live in the woods with a husky. I am so done. Screw CCP, screw immigration, screw this pandemic.

    When I entered, the agent was asking to make sure I would be alone (I was).  Rules might have changed since I visited.  Can't wait to go back / well, back and forth freely.

    We're well versed regarding the tax consequences regarding him working up here as a W-2 employee, we have hired cross-border accountants and have filed US and Canadian income tax returns for him.

    Yes, please dont break the law. If you choose to visit, please follow all requirements. For me personally, having my wife in the same house (even in another room) is much worth than being apart. But, to each their own. Good luck!

    It is also so not worth risking everything.  I, and I am 100%positive all of us, would LOVE to see our spouse, but breaking quarantine and risking our visas when we are so close to the finish line is not worth it. My husband was going to fly to Canada and help me bring my (our) cat and dog. But when I was home with him last we realized the 14 day quarantine for him would not be doable as he did not have enough vacation days left, so I left our dog with him. So now I am without my love and my baby girl. I love my cat, but my dog was a really good source of comfort, more of an ESA for me during this whole process. 
    Fingers crossed that we get our ILs on Monday

    I mean, to a reasonable person that should be sufficient. I'm not a CO so I can't make that call. You've gotta present the evidence and hope for the best. They might not even question you on it.

    My husband has been in Canada more or less continuously since March 2020 and has been working remote. He's on visitor status, so has US Driver's License, employer, mortgage and the like. He's gonna be going back down to the states once I get a date for the interview.
     
    We don't anticipate any issues with domicile. It's more of a problem if the Petitioner has permanent status/long term work or student status in Canada and has Canadian ties afaik.

    Does anyone here know, how much visiting is too much if the petitioner claims to be domiciled in the U.S.? We are planning for my wife to visit me 9-10 days every month. Would spending 33% of your time in Canada after claiming domicile in the U.S. is too much? Can the CO deny the visa for this? I am sure some cross border couples spend every Friday - Sunday in Canada....

    The 2k bill is totally the deal breaker. I just have to keep reminding myself I am almost there. I should be in the next batch, and hopefully will be approved in the interview
