I don’t think they have reverted to 12 months. There has always been this discrepancy on DoS website.

This page says the validity is 2 years:
    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-5-collect-financial-evidence-and-other-supporting-documents/step-7-collect-civil-documents.html

This page says the validity is 1 year:
    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/MTL-Montreal.html#pre_interview_checklist

I have brought it to both DoS and Montreal consulate’s attention, and they have not bothered to correct it. They both have emailed me back confirming it doesn’t expire for 2 years.

    Lol no problem.
I would probably not advise you to have the medical done before receiving the IL simply because the panel physician needs access to your immigration file when you get to the appointment, that's where they upload all the reports. As for booking it, I don't think there's an issue with that, again as long as the actual date is after you receive the IL lol.
And when I got my medical done, there was actually a backlog at Ontario Public Health and alot of people around that time didn't have their medical in time for the interview. After the consulate received our medicals, most were issued within 1-2 weeks. I, on the other hand (idk who else), am still waiting 6 weeks later. Right now idk how quick the blood work is being processed but when you get the IL, try booking the first date you can find with your doctor so there's enough time for it to get to the consulate.

    1. It's possible they sent out the ILs up to the first half of Jan. If you didn't get it now, most likely you'll get the IL next month. If not, then I would think about emailing the consulate and NVC.

    2. Yes, 2 years.

I am praying for you that you get your status changed to "issued- final processing" today and that they even ship it out. It would truly be unfortunate if they do batch ship them out every friday and therefore you'd have to wait another week. That would be unfair for you (or anyone) to have to wait that long. I am staying hopeful for you and honestly, I'd spam their emails personally haha!

Wishing you the best of luck!

Congrats happy for you guys!!! Nothing for me tho  I’m a little bummed because I’m still under “issued” under AP. My appointment was earlier then a couple people who got their tracking number already… so I’m starting to feel a little worried

Does anyone know if you absolutely need to move all your things once you cross over to activate your visa?

I may want to activate my visa, go to the US for a few months and come back to Canada to move my things only then. Not sure if that's possible?

So looks like they "accepted" the finds in principle but technically you need to provide further proof once you have transferred all funds to the U.S. account.

    I wanted to ask you:

    1. What proof of these funds did you provide at NVC stage? Just online bank account statements or a signed letter from the bank also?
    2. Did you upload to CEAC or take updated proof of funds statements/letter with you to the interview or the amount of funds did not change from NVC stage to interview?

    Thanks!

"funds being documented with the IRS" Is when we do my wifes taxes there is a form called a F BAR that documents any bank accounts in the world with over 15k in it that belongs to the US Citizen and is calculated using the exchange rate to document it in USD.
Yes my US citizen wife lives in Canada with me since 2012 and she does not have a US job at the time of the interview ( which is fine because we are using proof of assets to sponsor me).
As well with domicile one of the things besides other proof is if the USA citizen in "Good Faith" intends to make the USA her domicile country again and move no later then the intending immigrant is part of proof of domicile ( so no lease nothing just wrote a short note about once I am approved were we will buy or lease a home) and the agent was good with this.

My wife (Petitioner) has several chronic health issues and needs me there at all times. So we detailed those, with doctor's letters (2) to supplement them, as well as included the fact that I am a nurse.

I should clarify the agent said I don't qualify because using own assets I needed 5 times the amount of the poverty level I was nice about it but told him my wife US citizen sponsoring her spouse is 3 x the poverty amount (around $65K) 5x is for sponsoring family father ,mother, brother, ETC. spouse is 3x and I believe children. I submitted proof of $82000 USD half is in Canadian which I will have to transfer the rest to USD. We went back and forth about this until he said I am not going to argue about this and I said that's fine I am not arguing I am just stating the exact wording on the I-864 instructions and he finally went to clarify this with another agent and came back and said yes thigs have changed and you only need 3x the poverty amount ( I came to this interview with everything to the best of my ability and wasn't going to just accept a agent not knowing qualification as the outcome of my case). If he didn't know he should of went to his supervisor because if I didn't know or didn't stand my ground I would of been sent home with a dose not qualify when I do. There is a lot more issues but this was the main thing that really is not acceptable.

Back from Montreal and at work (the only computer that has my VJ password saved 😂). My wife was approved at her Monday appointment!
She was in the consulate for over 2 hours, which stressed me out a bit. She said it was over an hour and a half until she was called up to give them her documents, then she was called up for the interview 5 minutes later. Interview itself was very straightforward - she was told that the fact that I uploaded a new 2020 i864 made things easier. My proof of domicile while residing in Canada was also accepted, so if anyone else is planning on that I can give you more details.

I have to go back through the thread now and figure out where to get the A-number to pay the fee (or do we have to wait until we have the passport back for that?). Hopefully moving next week Thursday!

    GREAT NEWS!

As I am leaving the airport to return to Canada after visiting my wife for a month (hardest goodbye ever -they never get easier) - we get an email saying our expedite request was approved (DQd April 30th 2021) and is in transit to the embassy. I just called my wife and we are just ecstatic. We got notice last week it was under review.

Now I am on my way back to Canada and time to prepare for the last stage.

We do have a question, because the email from NVC says "The Embassy/Consulate General will contact you soon to schedule a visa interview"   but then when we go onto CEAC to check status it says "Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center".

Am I supposed to wait for them to contact me for the interview date or is there somewhere I should be looking?

Thanks to all and best of luck to everyone!
