Do you have a tracking number? Then you could just check online when it got delivered.
We also shipped our petition via USPS Express (so it was delivered within 48 hours) and got the NOA1 7 business days later. I am sure they have received and scanned your petition and it's just sitting in their mailroom waiting to be opened and reviewed. Just give it a few more days.
-
Of course
My husband (petitioner) did that - no problems whatsoever!

I am waiting for NOA 2, it is already outside of normal processing time, so I have no idea when it will be approved. I also have only 8 months left of my requirement to fulfill and taking into acocunt recent delays in NVC process (checks the thread August 2014 NVC filers), 7-8 months will be just right from approval to the interview.
I do not think you will be flagged or hindered at NVC stage, I have seen VJ-ers being past NVC stage while still subject to 2 year hrr. NVC does not care about your 2 year requirement, the consultate does. If you look at the guide for CR-1 process, nowhere does it ask for copies of your visas or about 2 year home residency, NVC will not even know your situation and frankly, will not even care. But, that's my opinion and as I said before, I talked to way too many lawyers to get this sorted out, but I may be wrong.
Well, when you fill out the online DS-260 (Immigrant Visa Application) in your last stage at NVC, the form asks if you have ever received a US visa and you have to enter your visa type (J1 - red flag) and former visa number. And towards the end of the form, you are asked about certain immigration conditions, with one of them concerning the successful fulfillment of the 2 year home residency. So when your IV documents and file are reviewed by NVC, they definitely know about your situation and I wouldn't lie to them about anything. They do care and will find out.

You can't really generalize that. Some people do have a fast journey through USCIS because their cases were expedited due to deployment, financial hardship and other emergencies.
The timeframe always depends on background checks, the submitted evidence of a bona fide relationship and where your petition is being processed as some service centers appear to be pretty backlogged.

I also found the show somewhat interesting, but not really fascinating. I think they mentioned that the Russian girl had to wait for her K-1 visa for an entire year. However, that's all they ever say about the whole visa process (except for the fact that you have to get married within 90 days), which makes uninformed people think that it's so easy to get a visa. That really annoyed me.
@Mirhen: I really like your signature!

Ok Thank you for the tips...
Looking at the Country Reciprocity Schedule has always been very helpful regarding IV documents:
http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country/RP.html#docs
So it looks like you only need the green NBI.

You don't need another medical as long as you have the visa. You are good to go.
Wrong. His wife's medical will expire before she can get an interview at the embassy. So no new medical, no visa...

Hello everyone... i just want to ask what requirements do we need to prepare after we got the Case number? I have some list but im still not sure if the list i have are enough to avoid checklist... so worried here.
These are my list base on my research:
AOS PACKET
Form I-864
W2 (last 3 years)
ITR (Imcome tax return) last 3 years
Pay stub
Employment letter
IV PACKET:
Bar coded cover sheet
Birth certificate
Marriage certificate
Passport biopage
2 passport style photo.
Please let me know if im still missing something.
Thanks... your answer is much appreciated.
You need to include a current police certificate from your country of residence (and anywhere else where you used to live for more than 6 months after your 16th birthday) in your IV packet!!
-
I would be honest and mention all of them, not just the full-time job. What you could do is fill in Oct 2014 for all the other jobs (since entering present is not possible) if you intend to file for it this month. Then just include an extra cover sheet which explains that your husband still works for all these 4 jobs at present
-
Yes, this is normal. It was the same for us. Those other steps just apply to other types of petitions (e.g. naturalization) at USCIS.
-
Do they still issue false checklist after AOS gets reviewed?
Yes. We received a false IV checklist via email last week when our AOS got approved
hey hey
So since you can send the AoS and the IV package together.
My husband is sending the AoS and I am sending the IV, I live abroad.
My question is do I need to enclose the bar-coded confirmation from the AoS payment?
We would send it both together but my husband got told he has to leave for a deployment next week, yesterday(super short notice)
and doesnt know for how long he will be gone
So maybe this works too
Thanks in advance
If you mail it seperately, you must enclose the AOS barcode sheet in your IV package, so they can scan it properly and assign it to your case file. If you don't, it can delay the processing and review of your documents. I mean you could try to express mail it to your husband on Monday (via DHL, costs 60€ I think) if he's still around when it gets delivered. If he is not, then mail it to NVC with the AOS barcode sheet via "Eil Kompaktbrief International" (taking around 7 days) to ensure that your docs would get reviewed approximately at the same time later on.
-
Yeah, unfortunately with the current processing time of 60 days, it's a bit unlikely. She should have a new medical done once you get a case complete and get notified by NVC.
-
Hey, just take it and run! You will have CC on Monday when you call! Congrats! My last scan is the 15th so hoping Monday or Tuesday will give us one!
Haha thank you!
I just don't want to get overexcited until I know for sure. But I will definitely let you guys know about it when we call on Monday. I hope you get a CC next week because you've surely been stuck at NVC for quite some time as well!

AOS just changed from Paid to N/A. But today is Saturday
Our last scan date was 8/14.

It's not a big issue. Just make sure you fill out the DS-160 correctly this time as this is more important in these last stages of getting the visa approved. I would be absolutely honest with the CO at the interview and tell him that you mixed up the two columns in the G325-A. If it's really necessary, the CO can correct it when he pulls up the file on his computer at the interview. I don't think you will get delayed or even rejected for that. Good luck!

I agree. File the I-130 and then you just have to play the waiting game. We had also filed for a K-3, but the I-130 is almost always approved first (as of now). Here is the VJ guide: http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1
And as Hotter Otter said, your wife can surely visit you in the US during that process: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/479894-yes-you-can-visit-ir1-cr1-version/
Btw, your wife does not become a citizen upon the approval of the visa. She only gets a (temporary - if married under 2 years) green card. The earliest you can file for naturalization when married to a US citizen is after 3 years upon your arrival in the US. (Someone please correct me if I got that wrong)
-
Not sure if it applies to your cases, but you can also file waivers for the hrr
http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/study-exchange/student/residency-waiver.html
-
Yes, that's also possible. So that is your visa number
-
It is usually printed in red and consists of 8 digits

This our 6th month at NVC... hoping it'll be our last! I would have never thought it would take this long..
After trying last night twice and being hang up on I finally got through nvc just now spoke to Mario in the Spanish dept he was nice but sounded kind of lost.. He confirm package received 8/8 but hasn't been review yet then procee to tell me that it could be any minute now when they get to it.. No more info given but at least I didn't get the 60 day speech..
I am sure you'll be next! You should get a CC this week
Is any one here on August 15 scan date or before ?? Case completed ??
We have an Aug 14 scan date for IV, but still waiting...
-
Hmmmm Im pretty sure they are doing everything together now.. Either way your AOS at least should be accepted by now, you don't lose anything by calling them and asking..
They are still not reviewing packages together. We have scan dates for both packages only apart by 2 weeks and only the first one (AOS - 7/31) was reviewed. Waiting for them to get to 8/14 for our IV package
-
Wow that is pretty terrible! I think I'm going to file a complaint, it really is a problem on their side if it happens to so many people... Maybe it can make a difference for the people after us.
It is a huge problem because the current instructions are indeed misleading and NVC knows about it, but they told us they couldn't do anything about it and complaints had to be submitted to the Department of State as they are responsible for the instructions of all the forms. It's just frustrating because their lack of communication and cooperation is causing a delay for so many of us.
-
Nope, unfortunately, that happened to us as well... and cost us another 56 days until NVC reviewed the "corrected" form
I think some administrator said that about 50% receive a checklist for that.
-
The only specified item/line in the checklist is "In Part 6. Sponsor's Income and Employment, please correct the following...: Item 10. The current annual household income must equal the sum of items 5, 6.c., 7.c., 8.c., and 9.c.", so it seems like it has something to do with your sponsor's I-864.
But definitely call NVC about it if you have received and corrected this checklist before. Good luck!
The IV PAYMENT!!!

Do you mean a cover letter as in a list of documents that are included in the IV package? It is not necessary, but recommended.
But you definitely must include the barcoded cover sheet when you mail documents to NVC.
You should be able to print it out after paying the IV fee, but alternatively you can also use the barcoded document cover sheet you could print out after paying your AOS fee.
