  1. Maybe you don't get such a case number when doing DCF... though that'd be kind of silly. Here is what is says on the VJ Frankfurt embassy page, but I don't know if that's still up-to-date:

    Phone number:
+49-69-7535-0 (immigrant visa queries only Tue, Thur 2-4pm GMT+1h

0900-1850055 (Mo-Fr 7am-8pm GMT+1h, € 1,86/minute, only available in Germany, if outside Germany use fax)

It is hard to get through on the regular phone number, don’t give up, let it ring. Someone picks up eventually…. Or the 0900 number.

Best way for questions about your petition if filed in person (DCF):
    uscis.frankfurt@dhs.gov
Best way to contact Visa Unit:
    online inquiry form http://germany.usembassy.de/email/ivform.htm
    or email: frankfurtvisainquiries@state.gov
Calling is not helpful, they connect you to a voicemail that says that you should send an email. Email response times are pretty quick (2-3 days).

  2. Would it be worth it now if I call and request for the case to be expidited? I don't want them to delay it more than what it already is. Before getting approved by the USCIS, I had an RFE. When all documents were sent to NVC, I apparently forgot to sign my AOS and it was returned so that delayed it 4 weeks more. I really don't know now fast the Embassy in Dominican Republic works.

I was referring to people who had their expedite request approved during the processing of their documents at NVC. I don't think you can get your case expedited through NVC after having a case complete anymore. You could try to get in touch with your embassy once NVC has scheduled your interview and ask for an earlier interview date (but be prepared to explain why). People receiving RFEs at the USCIS stage is something very common and if you forgot to sign your AOS, it was your own fault, so I don't know how high your chances would actually be to convince the embassy to give you an earlier date.

Gotcha! I was looking at the online calendar and see hundreds of open slots for our Embassy. Keeping my fingers crossed.

    Thanks!

    You're welcome and good luck!

  3. Thank you StrawberryKiss. I have another question. If I already submitted my original marriage certificate thru USCIS, do you know if I have to submit another one to NVC. Thank you.

Sometimes it happens that USCIS doesn't forward all the documents to NVC. You'd have to call NVC to find out about it. But it's better to be safe and submit one at the NVC stage again in order to avoid getting a checklist and having to wait another 60 days to have your case completed. I wouldn't risk that - but that's just my opinion.

  4. Oh okay. Thank you!

For example: If you look at people on the spreadsheet (I posted the link above) who had a CC in the middle of September, you see that NVC didn't schedule their interviews until early October and that they didn't get an interview for October anymore but for November.

If someone else reschedules or cancels their interview at your embassy, you might get their slot and thus an earlier date instead. And if your case was expedited, your interview is also scheduled sooner than normally.

  5. Also, don't make the mistake thinking that you need to get all of the vaccinations listed on the website (like me  ). I didn't receive some of them when I was a child, e.g. Hib or Rotavirus, because it wasn't common at that time. And nowadays, they are only given to children of a certain age, but not to adults. Here is a link from a Canadian panel physician regarding which vaccinations are needed from age 18 to 64.

  6. Yeah I saw it and I already got it working, thanks. For some reason it adds some numbers and letters when you click on it. Here's the good one:

    http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/vaccinations.html

My question is if, in case that I am missing any vaccine (which I'm sure I am)... do they give them to you right away in the clinic during the medical examination? Would this delay the medical approve for the visa?

I haven't had my medical yet (next week), but the way it works here is that they give you the missing vaccinations at the medical, which usually doesn't delay anything. If you need to get follow up (second round) shots a few weeks later, you are actually able to do that in the States after your arrival (voluntarily). Only if they found something on your chest x-rays and it could be TB (or showing you recently had TB), they would need to run extra tests, which delays the medical/visa approval.

However, if you know you're missing certain vaccinations or boosters, I'd suggest getting them from your local physician now as that is usually way cheaper than having it done at the medical exam. Just make sure you have proof of having received those vaccinations.

  7. Good afternoon All,

I am new to your website and am wondering if someone can answer this for me.

I am an American Citizen. I petitioned my husband in August 2013 (CR1). I called NVC for a case status. The representative said it was completed on October 7, 2014 and we are waiting to be scheduled for an interview at the Embassy in Dominican Republic. I also receicved an email stating the same on October 15, 2014. Any guesses on how long after me receiving the email it takes them to schedule and when approximately we will be interviewed? Thank you.

Have a look at the "Case Complete to Interview Stats Spreadsheet" and compare how long other members from your country had to wait for their interview to be assigned. Scheduling for November interviews is already over. NVC will start scheduling December interviews in the last week of October and first week of November.

  8. No "in transit" for us but did get the P4 Letter! No cc email but prob won't now. No Problem! Congrats and excitement for yall that have in transit...ours should be soon! :D

My interview (London) was scheduled last Friday and got the p4 this morning, (overnight). No CC email.

Woohoo :dancing: Congrats! I also received my P4 this morning. What a wonderful thing to wake up to :) Now I don't care about a CC email anymore :D

  9. There's no way to exactly know its yours really. Best way if you really want to track and know is you have to know when NVC actually sent your petition. Once you get that date about 2 or 3 days later DHL will have scanned it and you can track a waybill to the embassy. Sometimes in the details when you click on it it has the weight. I knew mine because it weighed 20 lbs and mine went a week after the rest of Lagos did and I knew for sure it was mine.

    It weighed 20 lbs? :wow::shocked:

  10. Oooh, yikes this is not what I have read or been told previously. Everyone I've spoken to has said that NVC requires original documents and NOT copies - it's on their website as well. . . . can anyone else chime in regarding this?

Definitely submit original documents and a copy of each of them to NVC. Make extra copies for you to keep and be able to bring them to the interview, if needed. They will give you the originals back at the interview and just keep the copies.

If you only submit copies, you will get a checklist for that and have to wait for another 60 days for NVC to review your response (i.e. the submitted original documents).

  11. Its been 40 days since NVC received our IV Package. I know we're not at the 60 business day standard statement that NVC tells us ever week we call, but regardless, 60 days business days for each document (2.5 months) has been a tough wait. I know a lot of you are in the same boat, but I just needed to vent a bit. Been trying to be as patient as possible, trying to distract myself as much as possible from not being with my wife.

Best of luck to everyone on this forum going through the process. The support and advice I've gotten from here has been great, and I'm glad I could be part of this community.

Our AOS checklist was approved on the 56th day after being scanned in, the IV packet on the 50th day. You are almost there! Maybe give it another 7-10 days.

  12. Houston (IAH) was really fast for us once we were called. No questions were asked either, just fingerprinted, stamped, signed, and we were outta there.

Really? :wow: When I visited my husband, it took me 1.5 hours to get through immigration because the line was so long and they were so slow. But that was also right before Christmas. Thanks for the info! :) I'll need to read some more reviews of IAH then.
