YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYA
Guys, Guys.... GUYS!!!
Interview December 23rd!! Long time away but I don't care I'm just over the moon right now!!!
Yay, finally! Congrats!
Called and got date of Dec. 24th for the interview. I will be trying for an earlier one for sure. None the less, totally stoked at whichever date it takes place.
I am surprised they're doing it on Christmas Eve
It's like half of a holiday here. But will be the best Christmas present for you ever
Hi everyone,
I am finally here after eight months at NVC. You will probably start a new thread in a day or so but just wanted to say hi. I think I will do some reading and catch up what has been going on with you all.
Congratulations! So so happy for you after all this time of waiting
A very happy status update: My wife's visa was approved at her interview this morning in London.
I will write up a more detailed review later but here is the quick version:
I went with her to the embassy but I did not go in. We arrived around 7:15am. I waited at a coffee shop around the corner. Everyone at the embassy was friendly and helpful. She was inside in under 15 minutes. She waited 15 minutes for her number to be called, then spent about 15/20 minutes at the first window going over her documents and answering some questions. There was another 15 minute wait before the actual interview at the second window. The interview took only 5 minutes and she was asked only three questions:
- How long have you been married?
- Where is your husband now?
- What do you plan to do after you arrive in the USA?
Then the agent said she was approved.
All in all, she was out of there and back with me in an hour and a half.
One thing to note is they didn't want to take my updated I-864. I moved on October 1st and was hoping they would take a new one with my new address. They would have none of that! I guess I will need to file the paperwork with USCIS to let them know of my change of address?
Around the time the agent mentioned the words "approved", the CEAC case status changed to "Administrative Processing."
We filed the I-130 almost 14 months ago. It feels like an eternity. I can't say I enjoyed all the uncertainty and waiting of this past year. I'm thrilled to have all of that now behind us!
Congrats you guys! I am glad it was all easy and fast!

11 days until my interview!
Can't wait!
Actually... I can... since I haven't even put my interview documents together.
So I can use at least 2-3 days to prepare for my interview.
I'm not nervous at all after 13 months!
Should I be more nervous?
I'm glad I am not the only one procrestinating here
So far no signs of nervousness either... But I already know I won't be able to sleep the night before the interview

Hi all, I've been searching for answers to this question in the Wikis, this thread, and the general search, but I cannot seem to find an answer. Our case was expedited at the NVC last week (whew!), and I got what I believe is Packet 4 over email (interview date, medical information, etc.). I cannot believe we have the interview already in 16 days!
Anyway, my question is this: What is Packet 3 and how do I get it? Do I even need it? Or is it a relic of an old procedure?
When using the search function, I found a couple of discussions about packet three, but they were over six years old and everything changes often in this process. Thanks in advance!
Packet 3 (issued by the embassy/consulate) only applies to K-people and asks them to submit the civil docs, for example, which you already did during the NVC process. So don't worry about it
Good luck!

Hello everyone. Today I received the letter stating that my case has been completed by the NVC
Anybody know how long it usually takes to receive the letter for the interview? My Embassy would be in Frankfurt if that helps. The reason I ask is because of New Years plans since I was expecting to still be here during that time. Thanks so much in advance.
Congrats! Your CC just came in time for the next round of interview scheduling! NVC will start assigning December dates this or next week. I was assigned an interview date 1 week after our CC (at the beginning of October), then it took 3 business days until I received the interview letter and they shipped it to Frankfurt.
You can compare and get an idea of how long it took other applicants to get their date for Frankfurt by looking at the interview spreadsheet:

I feel lonely as the only active German there

So, A week since CC and no email yet, I usually always get their emails so I'll just keep waiting.
Question: Can I pay the $165 fee now while waiting on my interview date?
Really hoping to get a late November interview!
I also never received a CC email. So after 1 week, my husband called NVC and found out that they had just assigned our interview date. Then it took 2-3 business days until we received the interview letter via email. So fingers crossed that you might already have an interview date!
I assume you are referring to the ELIS (green card production) fee? You don't pay that until after the visa approval.
-
For whatever countries ustraveldocs is available, CR1/IR1 applicants generally only use it to register the delivery address for the visa (check IV address registration above Immigrant Visa and Nonimmigrant Visa) . If you have already paid all the necessary fees (AOS, IV) at the NVC stage, don't pay for any additional fees on ustraveldocs at this point.
-
Yeah, I agree with katieflossom. It took NVC 56 days to review our AOS package and 50 for the IV package. Just keep calling them. Maybe you already got a CC.
-
Hi its been almost two months since we sent the IV package and 3 months since we sent AOS package and still no answer from the NVC and also the summary page had no update.
The statue is still N/A
Those N/As underneath the document sections never change. Have you tried calling NVC? That's the only way to find out if your packages have been reviewed.

Have been really busy and traveling back and forth so haven't had time to post my normal rants on here recently...
Just wanted to update the thread that the USEM in London has rescheduled my wife's interview to Halloween. This is really helpful. It feels great to finally be dealing with real people who have actual beating hearts.
I haven't looked at anything regarding the courier options and payments or ELIS. I guess that's next on the list of things to figure out...
Congrats! You'll get to be with your wife 3 weeks earlier
I am glad they're not all heartless robots. Good luck for the interview!

No problem! If your husband had varicella as a child, he doesn't need another shot. Sometimes it's sufficient if you have a verbal declaration from your doctor or an antibody test as proof - but that depends on the panel physician. I recommend calling their office to see what you need to bring (e.g. hospital records) in order to be prepared or save yourself a lot of time
They neither wanted to see a declaration about chicken pox nor any records of when I had my tonsils removed as a child
-
Don't you get to schedule your own appointment as a K-1? I thought so
-
These are the links that I used for orientation - had no problems at my medical. Also, make sure your husband gets his flu shot since he will be doing the medical during flu season (October - March), so they require it (even if it doesn't say so in some of the links). Saw a lot of people who forgot about it and had to pay extra at the medical.

You mean your doctor let you know that your medical exam results were fine?
Nobody mentioned anything about my medical results when I picked them up.
Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you don't have to go back to the doctor's office for another medical exam.
That would totally suck if you had to undress in front of your doctor again.
Had my medical today and the doctor immediately told me that all my results were fine, including the x-ray.
And I was also really happy when she told me to take off my jeans and sweater only, so I got to avoid the nakedness part completely

Ours arrived in London Friday and shows ready now. Oh to be completely free of NVC and know our case is snug as a bug in a rug in London and hopefully in one piece
Awesome! "snug as a bug in a rug"
that sounds so funny. I'll have to remember that phrase!
-
Not even then! The only thing you get back is the x-ray. Better ask for a copy from the doctor. I got from mine a copy of the vaccination record for my kids' school enrollments. I wonder if they do give back the medical results at POE.
By the way, I'm guessing I can pack our x-rays in the luggage as they're not needed for POE. Please, someone correct me if it's a bad idea.
I think you're supposed to put them into your carry-on(s).
Yup, just found it: "X-rays – Must be hand-carried with you, not packed in your luggage."
Source:
http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/interview/after.html
PS: As for the luggage and as a woman, I can sort of relate to your wife
12 suitcases are still better than 18
I don't even want to think of packing my stuff. I am really curious how many pieces I'll have in the end
I know someone have said something about this sometime ago but didn't understand because have not gotten to that stage yet. My status on CEAC now shows ready and i noticed that there is additional extra two figure numbers after my case number. Then there is an extra consulate code.
LGS2014XXXXXX 01 LGS.
Why is there extra two figures and then the consulate code again?
The "01" indicates the number of dependants for the case, but since it's just you without any children it counts as 1.

thank you so much as I was told by someone that I would have to submit it, but I couldn't find anywhere that says petitioners had to submit it..
My source was this link if you look at petitioner documents:
The petitioner only had to submit a copy of his/her birth certificate or passport to prove citizenship when filing the I-130 petition at USCIS at the very beginning. But that's it. But it looks like you've already made it to NVC, so it doesn't matter
-
Does petitioner have to submit original and photocopy of birth certificate?
Only if he/she is filing an IR-5 for parents or F4 for siblings, otherwise no.
-
My ds260 application status showing as" not available " status. y its like that, what should I do next?..plz help me..thank u.
Have you paid your IV fee yet? The DS-260 ususally becomes available when the money left your bank account, so after 1-2 business day(s) or so.

Collected our passports and visa packets early this afternoon from the Embassy reception. I was really surprised that each of my derivative family members received their own visa packet (brown envelope). Here they are, exactly as received.
Finally! Congrats!
Wishing you an easy and fast pass through immigration and customs on Wednesday! And good luck with those 18 pieces of luggage
-
An immigration officer won't be able to help you with that.
Call NVC and ask the operator again - maybe you just caught someone very incompetent that day (which is not very uncommon). If he or she still says they don't have anything from you in their system, ask to speak to a supervisor regarding your concerns. Documents are usually scanned in a few business days after delivery. But I am pretty sure your documents got there because you have a delivery confirmation.
Edit: Not everyone receives the 60-day-email. We only received it for one package, but not the other. Maybe NVC doesn't send it out anymore if they're actually clearing their backlog.
-
Thanks @StrawberryKiss for all your help and information. Unfortunately we just got a checklist from the NVC regarding the AoS package so I won't be dealing with the interview nor the medical examination any time soon... We are pretty bummed
You're welcome! Oh no, that sucks. We also got a checklist for AOS back in July. I know how you feel, but don't let that bring you down! NVC has become a little faster as for reviewing checklists (hopefully due to the new fees). Distract yourself a little bit and focus on stuff you need to assemble for the interview (e.g. bona fide relationship evidence) and medical (e.g. records).

Thanks guys. As long as this is normal I shouldn't worry. I'm not being impatient (a slight lie, of course we want a quick approval), just mostly worried. Being able to live with my husband during the process makes it sooo much easier.
If they'd only send a stupid confirmation letter then I wouldn't have to bother them. I had sent them an email about a week or 2 ago, so I guess I should just wait on that...I'm sure they'll respond within the next week. To be safe I printed out/saved copies of the DHL delivery (with signature) of my RFE packet, so if there's a denial due to me "not replying" I have proof to contest it.
They're probably just lazy
I know as for filing with USCIS in the States, the status changes once they have received your RFE and are working on it. And then it also says something like "It will take us a minimum of 30 days to review your documents". We also never received any confirmation from NVC, for example, if they received our documents - it's just how the goverment works, unfortunately.
If you still plan on calling them sometime, I found the number that will immediately direct you to their USCIS department:

Hubby did medical yesterday, OMG (they gave hm 6 shot and he was messed up after they were done so much so, he could not even talk to me last night). Poor baby! Love do comes with pain, babe! These were my word of comfort...lol I am horrible! But I promise to make it all up to him/
I got the missing shots from my local physician this week (since that's way cheaper here) and she gave me a combo shot for tetanus, diphtheria, polio and pertussis. My arms still hurts 4 days later
Is the visa status check found on the country's website page or is there a special place to check that? Cheers!
For the visa status check, just go to the CEAC website, click on the 4th IV link "Check My Visa Application Status" and enter your case number. To see where your current processing site is, log in with your case and invoice nubmer on CEAC using the 1st link (for DS-261) and look what it says in the upper right corner. I hope this answered your question?

This will be a veryyy important month for many of us
Glad that November has finally come around.
Good luck to all of us with November dates!
