  1. Good day fellow members.

I am trying to get an immigrant visa for my wife who is from Korea. We are at the final step of waiting for the NVC to look through our civil documents before she can get the interview, but it has been taking them far too long! We have been waiting for the past couple months only to get an email from them stating that it's going to take 60 days rather than the usual 30 days. I am here in California about to start graduate school and my wife is still in Korea doing nothing but waiting for the NVC to give the clear for her interview date for the past month. She's getting really, really impatient to the point where she could go insane and I don't know what to do or say to her. I've tried to calm her and tell her that we're almost finished (for the past month) only for it to fall on deaf ears. We're both very miserable, and the NVC call center just tells us that they're backed up and that there's nothing they can do about it. Has or is anyone in this situation? Who else can I get help from? What questions should I ask when I talk to NVC? Can she come to California and somehow finish it here? ( -_-)'

If anyone can help this distress post, it would be of great help.

    Thank you.

    RCG

    Contact your congressman/woman.

  2. Hey Guys,

We're currently on the step where we are scheduling the K1 Fiancee Visa Interview, and there is a question on the embassy site asking for Visa Priority: Resident or Non-Resident. I'm unsure what it's considered, since she will be a resident of US, but is not yet until Green-Card as far as I am aware. So any sure advice would be most appreciated. Thank you in advance.

  3. It appears TSC just transfered mainly everyone from May 2014 forward to CSC, so those who got their NOA 1 before that should now be expecting an approval, I am starting to see March approvals popping up on Igor's list, they are finishing February up.

Seems like this see-saw effect between TSC and CSC is not a new thing, one center gets overloaded, then transfers to the least loaded, and so on... many of us just happened to hit the overloaded center this time around. Whoever applies a few months from now and is sent to TSC, will probably get much faster processing times, and CSC will start slowing down, and back to the transfer games once CSC reaches like 11,000 pending apps or whatever # sets off their transfer actions. Just my opinion.

It's impossible for the Visa Processing Centers to predict which one will get overloaded and when (love is unpredictable), since the petitions vary and are not always the same volume from same places in the country, this is why one or the other center is more loaded at times.

  4. Hey March TSC filers,

My petition was approved on the 7/8/14 and my noa1 was 3/3/14. Hopefully all March filers will be approved soon. Your time is coming. Just wanted to give everyone an update :) :)

Hey congrats! We are 3/4/14 NOA1, and hope to be next. Did you do anything special, like Erequest, contact senator/congressman, expedite, etc?

Congrats!! My NOA1 is 1 day behind yours...that gives me a little hope.

    Same here, we're 3/4/14, anyday now. :)

  5. IMSM, about a week after my application was received by USCIS in March, I contacted my local congressman regarding an "expedited" petition and was told that since my fiance resides in Manila and not in the "Samar" or "Leyte" regions directly affected by the typhoon Haiyan that an expedited request could not be granted.

Sorry to hear that, it's always worth a try though if you have risk for safety in that country.

  6. One more question, where did you hear or read that Russia was moving military assets to BY? I told them this, but I have no evidence to support it. I have been searching google, but nothing. BY still has that old iron curtain up........They said I would have to provide evidence of an emerging circumstance or humanitarian situation.

You can ask your fiance to search their news on google in BY as well for this, here's some Russian military buildup news from the US side:

This speaks of how Belarus has an official cooperation with Russian Forces:

  7. HI, what neighboring country. I asked for an expedite since my fiance is from Belarus and got denied. I know of another VJ'er that was approved under the same circumstances as me, but it is a matter of what USCIS official you get. He got a cool one and I got a wad.

    :-/

My Fiancee is from Belarus also. Russia is moving military assets into Belarus now, and using it as a stage for war with Ukraine, it is stuck right in the middle, as always in history. Anyway, the situation is growing worse politically.

I recommend contacting a congressman directly with your purpose, so they can do the expedite for you, builds a stronger case for if/when you hit a delay at NVC, since they are also reporting backlogs now, and having a congressman accompanying you throughout this process can certianly help further down the roadblocks too.

What the heck...nothing to lose right? What's the process?

I asked my congressman to do it, more power behind the request IMO.

  8. I hear what you are saying, but her life is hardly in danger. The only ones in Russia that might face any type of danger would be in the Rostov area and that would be from a stray round. Ukraine, in their current military state, could not do much to Russia so they would never grant an expedite. The other couple you mention is from Ukraine and they had very good reason for an expedite. The eastern region is a very dangerous place to be right now and I believe they should all be expedited to remove them from harm's way.

Besides, by the time I had any word on an expedite, I will probably have NOA2 by then anyway so no point really.

The only fear I have is that they close the border and do not allow any visas because of this US meddling. A long shot but still a very remote possibility.

Not a long shot actually, Russia / US relations are breaking down fast. They're already talking about stopping EU flights over Russia. And EU is with the US.

    http://news.yahoo.com/russia-may-restrict-trans-siberian-flights-eu-airlines-055120450--finance.html

I would take any chance I can to expedite.

  9. I don't believe that is true for all applications from the Philippines, as I have an NOA1 of March 6th and still have not heard anything. Let's hope the TSC can make it through the March apps this month......

You would get expedited consideration if you requested this when you initially sent in your application. If you request expedite now, it should be through congressman.

  10. I hope you are right...the end of August would thrill me to no end at this point but I am thinking more toward the end of September. I just hit 5 months yesterday and never did I imagine I would see that come to pass while waiting for NOA2 when I initially filed.

My friends and family all wondered how long it would take to get Tanya over here and I said I expected her here by July 4th... Good thing hindsight is 20/20..at least I have a clear view of where I have been.

Now to think it may not even be in time for Thanksgiving just twists me more than I care to admit. The other twister is this...I said a while back that when 5 months hit, I would be contacting my congressmen for assistance....HAHA...they are on 6 weeks vacation now, the worthless bumps. I may have NOA2 by the time they get back

Hey, have you thought about asking your congressman to expedite her visa, due to the fact that she's in essentially a war conflicted country, and that you have reason to fear for her life's safety. Russia and Ukraine are in essential a war right now, which puts Russia in the crosshairs on anti-russian forces as well. This other couple who's finace was in the neighboring country, asked for expedite on these grounds, and got approved in 2 months instead of 6.

  11. To cross the first threshold and be searchable within WhiteHouse.gov, a petition must reach 150 signatures within 30 days.

To cross the second threshold and require a response, a petition must reach 100,000 signatures within 30 days.

The white house doesn't care folks! Don't waste your time. Our elected representatives, the people who represent us in the government, e.g. Senators, Congressmen, Congresswomen are in a conflict with and are being ignored by the WH, the WH is issuing executive orders to circumvent the congressional authority and act on it's own. This is the same as our voices being ignored by WH. Again, don't waste your time.

  12. But looking at here http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/monthly_filers.php?form=1&visa=1&scenter=3&option=3&sortby=2

you can see that less than 60% of January petitions have been approved. And it's the end of July now and they still have more than 40% to process. So I won't be so hopeful to be approved in September (March filers). Though I was hoping for the end of September myself but I am afraid that it won't happen with such approval rate

That chart isn't a holy grail, it can be off signficantly, since many people may not report back after approval. I'm looking at the approvals, and I'm seeing mainly mid-end january, last month I was same for december. Let's see what August brings, the bar graph isn't as reliable of an indicator.

  13. It looks like TSC is processing mainly mid - end january petitions right now (with some rare feb approvals appearing), last month they were mainly december (with some rare january approvals). If this keeps up, next month should be mainly february approvals. So I expect us March filters to start getting approved in higher #'s by end of August, Early Sept. :)

  14. Guys, the white house is busy giving amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants right now. I highly doubt they care to help the legal immigrants at this point.

You need to contact congressmen, senators and media for the highest chance. Need to put energy into the right direction, where results are most possible.

I don't want to ruin your good intentions but ... We did this before and just had 140 signatures and that petition need at least 150 signature in order to be publicly searchable on WhiteHouse.gov ...it's so unreal we never going to have 100,000 signatures

I agree, and 100,000 signatures only means they "Look" at your petition matter, it does not guarantee any action. I've seen petitions for other matters gain sufficient signatures, only to be looked at and rejected by the WH. I hate to say it, but you're wasting your time contacting the WH.

  15. Hello Everyone,

I'm a March 2014 TSC filer, and have been visiting this forum for some time now. I deeply sympthatize with everyone here who feels the pain of unfair delays at TSC vs. CSC, and those who who miss their loved ones, as I do miss my fiance very much, and would like to say that a powerful idea we can all participate in NOW (besides contacting congressman/senator after 5 months are up) is to intelligently and respectfully contact media outlets, in particular, I am thinking to reach out to specific reporters who specialize in immigration reporting, this is a hot time for this subject, and thus, more likely to catch their attention... especially when coming from more than one person.

I recommend we all start by contacting Julia Preston, of NY Times. She is the woman who brought attention to the immigration backlogs in Feb 2014, which seems to have gotten things moving. (http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/09/us/program-benefiting-some-immigrants-extends-visa-wait-for-others.html?hp&_r=1)

"Julia Preston was a member of The New York Times team that won the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for reporting on international affairs for its series that profiled the corrosive effects of drug corruption in Mexico. Ms. Preston became a national correspondent covering immigration for The Times in April 2006."

I have not emailed her yet, but am gathering some wisdom to write her soon. What do you guys think of this idea, to all write from our hearts and use facts to help bring this issue to Ms. Preston's attention? Open to hear your ideas and suggestions.

She can be contacted directly by click on "Send an E-Mail to Julia Preston" at the end of her profile on this page: http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/people/p/julia_preston/index.html?action=click&contentCollection=U.S.&module=Byline&region=Header&pgtype=article
