That was lucky, about the quick processing. Same situation for us and my daughter’s application still took over a year to process. Said they were very nice at the interview too though.

Good luck, I hope the backlog clears and the embassy is back to normal operation by the time your petition is approved.

However..I do not understand why ppl from Canada, UK, Europe, and any other VWP country go for K1.

My wife's case is different because in her country it is difficult for singles to get visitor visas. It would have been great if my wife could have visited me to see if she could adjust to life in America, but we ended up using the K1 for that purpose.  We had to start over with a CR1 because she had to return due to a family emergency, but that's another story.

I know last year was ####### for travelling and visiting due to the pandemic, but for UK and EU countries the lifestyles are similar to the US.  There definitely are differences, but not to the degrees for various other countries.  I would have recommended you guys to get married and go for CR1.  I believe Gibraltar was a good 3rd country destination for quick marriages.

While CR1 was longer pre-pandemic, it was faster during due to the embassies not processing K1.  Even for pre-pandemic, CR1 was just as fast or faster from start to greencard (no AOS required).  And visits are allowed while CR1 is processing (at the discretion of CBP).

I guess it is because K1 is better known due to 90 day fiance and social media, but I wish people consider CR1 before making a choice.

If you were under 18 when your dad took his citizenship oath then you are a citizen now. That means you cannot apply for a green card. Green cards are for permanent residents, not for citizens. Applying for the N600 would get you your own certificate, since your dad doesn't have his in hand at this time to serve as your proof of citizenship. My guess is that if he has already applied for a replacement it would be quicker to wait for his certificate, rather than start a new application (and expense) for your own.

Really sorry for anyone whose plans got affected by this. I know that right now K1 visas are not affected but does anyone else also think that they probably will put a ban on these as well soon? I have a flight in 2 weeks, thinking about moving it closer idk what to think rn:/

Yes and this leaving an entire age out of recieving the stimulus check is BS. My poor daughter is 17 and has lost her job and will not get a stimulus check since she was obviously claimed as a dependent on my taxes, but since she's not under 17 I also don't get the $500 for her on my stimulus check. At least she gets unemployment.

Over the next few weeks we will likely see more and more K1's in a similar position posting on here. It wouldn't surprise me if there is a pinned thread dedicated to this dilemma, given the awkward situation so keep watching the forum. It's no consolation to each individual or couple, but you are not alone and this is a great place for sharing information and experiences.

We had exactly the same thing happen with our K1 (although I panicked more than you appear to show lol)

I recall it took about two days. Daughters was approved and mine sat in AP for a couple more business days plus a weekend. Plenty of people here reassured me it was normal and they were right.

I wouldn't worry.  Even if they get separated early, you can delay the NVC process for the early ones, if needed.....until they all catch up.

Along with most VWP-eligible people. I still fail to see the huge attraction of the K-1 in such places.

The 2 hour layover is not sufficient to get this accomplished before he gets on the next flight. If  it is his lucky day then may be otherwise  2 hours are not enough. Good luck.

Someone has to leave to get groceries. If there are quarantines that require people with no symptoms, exposure, or a positive or pending test to stay indoors then that would be really stupid.

I tried using a grocery service today. It sucks: just 4 of 20 items could be fulfilled.

Your response was a lot more polite than the one I refrained from posting.

I thought that was just plain rude and heartless (referred to the comment you replied to, not yours - I'm with you on this one!)

Where did you find this official legal statement?

is this your spouse's US entry on his CR1 visa?  Congrats and best wishes!

Yes, he will have to clear customs at his first port of entry in the US, so he needs to clear customs in Atlanta.  As far as i know the immigrant visa check is not done electronically so it really depends how busy the line is for other people waiting to be processed or see someone in secondary.

Thanks so much for the link and response.    Just an update,   I went through my works online application and instead of checking the no SSN checkbox which stopped me in my tracks, I just typed in 111-22-3333 as her social number and it went through.  Also, just the morning it was already approved.   Now just gotta wait for her insurance card etc.    Thanks for the help and friendly advice!

An SSN is not required by law to obtain health insurance. I would speak to HR or the insurance representative. Often people have to have a little argument with them to get them to understand. Certainly things are a little crazy right now, but depending on the state some buildings may be closed. You'd have to call the number to find out more information.
