It is hard. It is an emotional roller coaster. I feel that each day is a lost hug, a lost kiss, a lost moment stolen from us forever. My fiance is 38 and we plan to have kids, so each month is another lost egg, maybe a lost chance at children.
Some days I am ok, thinking in the future we will be together and we can just laugh at the whole thing.
Some days I am angry at the illegal immigrants that abused the system and cause us all to have to wait so long. I get angry at our government for dropping the ball and leaving us honest people in the dark.
It is easier to buy a house and pay the bank for 30 years, even less paperwork and time. Less worry and nervousness, we only want to be with the ones we love. Love is free, why make it so difficult?

I paid 10,000 RMB because I offered to and wife said not to pay 1 cent more than that. Her brother would just try to borrow the money from her parents.

but be very patient....the petition approval at uscis is a slow one and a case complete might be just as slow.

It's not clear why you would want a Chinese tax ID number - neither it nor the Chinese ID is needed for the W-7. You WILL need to get her passport certified at the American consulate or in the U.S. (she would need to mail it to you so you could have it certified in the U.S.)
It is not possible to have the passport certified by the issuing authority in China. But yes - several people have gotten the ITIN's while in China
What you need is to have the passport copy certified at a consulate. She can make an appointment through American Citizen Services - they will know what is required.

the instructions in the W-7 are very clear about the ID requirements on her. Please revisit those instructions, nowish.
Note they changed, as well, these ID requirements, so unofficial sites, non-IRS sites, might have outdated info.

The laws changed around 2011 to 2012, with interim measures in place until policies went into effect for the 2012 tax year - http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/Updated-ITIN-Procedure-Changes-Announced
The Certified Acceptance Agents and certification by the issuing authorities options no longer apply in China, although you can have her passport forwarded to the U.S., and take care of it there.
The authentication procedure through the U.S. consulates in China HAS stayed the same, though.
She can make an appointment to get this done through American Citizen Services (yes, they even help out Chinese citizens who have this sort of an issue).

Mike and Yaoling got a reaction from Darnell in Marriageability Affidavit at the Beijing Embassy
For the notary we used "Golden Bridge Translation Company". They provided (everything) the following:
    1. Translate "passport".
    2. Translate "affidavit of marriageability".
    3. Notarized the marriage license (white book).
Cost about 750元 for the notary and another few hundred for the translation work.
The Ministry of Civil Affairs, where you will get the marriage license, is on the same street as the translation company and there is a nice cake shop on the way there. It's about a 2 or 3 block walk.
Here were the steps we used:
    1. Make appointment at the US embassy in Beijing.
    2. Make an appointment at the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
    3. Ride the train to Beijing from Pingdingshan.
    4. Get the "affidavit of marriageability" from the US embassy in Beijing.
    5. Take the train to Zhengzhou.
    6. Go to Golden Bridge translation company and have the US passport and affidavit of marriageability translated.
    7. Bring all the documents to the Ministry of Civil Affairs a few blocks down the street and get the marriage license.
    8. Bring the marriage license to Golden Bridge translation company and have them translate and make your white book. Takes a couple days. We just let them mail it to us. Everything went smooth.
    9. Celebrate and wait for the courier to call you to pick up the white book and marriage license in your fiancee's home town.
Here is the contact info for the translation company:
Golden Bridge Translation; 0371-55905028 13838122208 13937102017 13700849176 email: jingqiaofy@126.com Get a business card from Golden Bridge, on the back of it is a map to the Ministry of Civil Affairs, they do this all the time.
    Good luck!

We were happily married on November 25th in Zhengzhou, Henan, China! Had a nice honeymoon in Hong Kong and Macau and had many dinners with her parents, friends and colleagues. We will celebrate my birthday next week together with friends and family, it's so great! We are so happy together, sometimes I still wonder if it is real or just a dream!
I took off a month from work for the wedding and honeymoon, in fact I am still in China now, I'll be home on the 21st of December. This time I brought a nice camera, laptop and a printer. I will have her sign everything we need for the spousal visa and bring the originals home with me. We have everything that we needed to be translated and notarized so that we can send off for the spousal visa as soon as I get home.
It is so great to be spending time with my baby, but she is feeding me too much great Chinese food, I think I gained a few pounds since I've been here.

30,000 USD is ridiculous. My fiancée is from the Henan province. Her parents are in their late 70's so I thought it would be nice to give them something. My fiancée said 10,000 RMB would be enough and that her parents will just spend the money buying things for my fiancée. It is my fiancée's second marriage so maybe that plays a part in it. I assume that this is your fiancee's first marriage, but still, some, not all, Chinese people assume that all Americans are rich and can easily pay so much money and still have money to buy a house, car, health insurance and so on. 30,000 RMB makes more sense, even 50,000 would be ok, but over 180,000 RMB? Wow!

I'm not sad, I have my boxing gloves on and I'm ready to fight. My baby made me believe in love again, and this love story has only just begun.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. You are great people and I appreciate your kind words tremendously.

The denial really stung like a wasp in my eye, but nothing can stop my baby and I, there is always another way! We really do love each other. We are very happy and have always been. When I get down, I just have to see her face in the video chat and all is well. And when we are together in real life, it is always heaven!
We should be married before the month is out. I'll be traveling to Beijing next week to get affidavit of marriageability then we are off to Zhengzhou, Henan for the marriage license followed by a wedding party in Pingdingshan, Henan. Then we are off to a warmer place in South China for the honeymoon. We will also celebrate my birthday on December 16th together so that is a plus!
    Life is great!
