    I've been hearing from my friend, who has a filipina wife, that his immigration attorney has been telling him horror stories where people have been having difficulties getting back into the country. His Attorney advise him not to travel anywhere until his wife receives her 10 year green card. They even had a trip planned to visit the philippines which they had to cancel. From what I've gathered all of the horror stories appear to be hearsay without any hard reports. I haven't seen or heard anything in the news about people in the middle of ROC having trouble re-entering the country. 
     
    My advise, have your Expired GC, NOA, and passport all on hand and be prepared to educate some officials just in case.

    Big difference is that we have vaccines and treatments for the flu. Whereas with COVID-19 we have nothing and Trump and Red State America want to open economies along with rising COVID-19 case counts. Perfect sense.

    And note the inconsistency between Trump's "position" :
     
    - on the one hand, everything is under control and the economy should be reopened
    - on the other hand, the "Invisible Enemy" is so scary & problematic that immigration needs to be shut down
     
    Of course both can't be true.

    Yes, that’s exactly what the DOS quote I provided before confirms.
     
    Most but not all other countries have similar requirements for their citizens entering and exiting. So a dual national traveling home usually must use US passport to leave US, national passport to enter and leave home country, US passport to re-enter US.

    Hi August filers!
     
    Today I decided to check my online case status and noticed that estimated case completion time changed yet again. This time it moved to September 2019. I know this estimate is a pure bs, so I decided to create my own, more realistic one. So I found 5 the most recent N-400 filers from my local USCIS field office and calculated the time from NOA to actual interview date. 
     
    Here are the number of days in chronological order: 100, 106, 102, 109 and 105 days. So on average, N-400 filer at San Bernardino, CA office waits 104,4 days from the day he/she sends his/her application to the day of the actual interview.
     
    Next, I added 105 days to the date of my NOA and came up with the following date: December 3, 2018 . So I am expecting my interview to be sometime in the beginning of December.

    To be sure, there are men that have notoriously had meltdowns on the court with little to no consequences. We even call some of those men 'icons' now because of that behavior (which is obnoxious of course). Serena's behavior was upsetting. She was clearly being bested by Naomi, and instead of keeping her cool, she just went off. Naomi's achievements should be celebrated, as the first Haitian-Japanese woman to win (and it was against someone Naomi looks up to!), she not only had to withstand Serena's ego trying to downplay her victory, but then had to endure being booed by the audience and stood there sobbing.

    Sorry but I don't think you really believe that a vacation qualifies for "outside your control".
     
    You have to ask yourself what's more important.  The financial losses from your vacation will be nothing compared to what you'll have to spend on lawyers and fees if they deny you for missing the interview, even if it gets rescheduled.  It HAS happened before.
     
    You really wanna take that chance just to see Yogi Bear?

    I had a friend who had already 2 months past expired green card. They didnt give him any issues they said they knew he had already submitted his N400 months ago.

    The first Extension Letter is valid for 12 month from expiration date of your Green Card. The new 18 month Extension Letter gives you an extra 6 months. We received ours 3 months from the original expiration date in November.

    I never said it would be denied because of that in any post.  There is a red flag and you have to acknowledge it existing.   Beyond that I dont really care about the N-400, mostly it's the suspicious nature of staying married for a green card for ROC that I am pointing out for the OP since that is their concern.  As someone who has no intent on naturalizing I cannot comment very much on the N-400.   That discussion is in an entirely different forum as well.
