You could also paper clip a P500 'filing fee' when you submit your paperwork to the clerk at the LCR. If they raise any questions just say that a friend told you there was a fee to process. Always helps to smooth the path.
Just sayin'. Helped me get a 16KG carry on onto the plane at NAIA.

I've taken the ORD-MNL-ORD flight 3 times with no problems whatsoever.  Weather delays are always a factor that you need to be concerned about re flight insurance.

The AA and JP legs service wise are like night and day.  You'll see what I mean later.

If budget and time permit, I highly recommend a Banaue/Sagada trek (if you're physically fit).  Those terraces are a killer when hiking :).

Also Coron/El Nido  on Palawan.  I did El Nido. Much more enjoyable than PP, especially if you dive or want to learn.

    Have fun.

'Customs' is non-existent at NAIA.   Take both in your carry-on and the ring in your pocket.  Nothing to 'declare'.  Just smile and pass by the kiosk.  Painless.

Do the 'Right' thing in you and your fiancé's mind.
The CR1 is less expensive overall than a K1. The 3-4 months additional time in receiving thCR1 is really insignificant in your overall lifespan. A Philippine wedding ceremony is steeped in traditions that don't exist in the US and in my opinion well worth experiencing but I'm extremely biased.

The USEM has a good rundown on marrying in the PI.  Well worth an initial read to see if you want to jump through all the hoops.

Canada is the only country that I am aware of that has 'strange' transiting passengers rules.  Most airlines as mentioned above transit HK, CN, JP, or KO none of which have transiting passenger issues.

DHL is fine. I think they interface with LBC on the Phil side. DON'T send chocolates, paper docs only.

As I posted in another topic, my vote goes to Calaguas, probably for all the wrong reasons. First there is the obligatory brilliant white sand and crystal clear water. Shallow with no immediate drop off so you can wade forever. Totally isolated, about a 3-4 outrigger ride from the Vinzones, Camarines Norte area. Mostly day tourists but there are nipa huts available for rent. About 2 years ago the first permanent accommodations were being constructed as a dive resort. It looked like staying there would be pricey and most likely the rooms would be part of a dive package.
So there is really nothing at all to do there except get away from the hustle and bustle and relax with your asawa (and her family, haha). Can't give any outlook on places to stay in Vinzones or Daet on the mainland as we stayed at her G'ma's place in a split bamboo floor, elevated nipa hut, province style.
What a change from city living. I even threatened my wife with building a HOUSE on her lola's beach front property and do nothing forever!!!!

Highly unlikely that DHL, FEDEX, UPS, LBC would EVER open a sealed letter envelope.
Why not send to her work address?
I have sent more than documents and they were held at a SM mailing store for my wife to pickup.

Seriously, what previous replies have stated is all true. But be advised that if time and proximity to SLEC are not issues you might want to consider getting any required vaccines in Manila versus the US since they are already paid for in your exam fees and there MAY be a cost involved if you defer until after arrival in the US.

    FWIW...
All our CR-1 documentation was filed using my wife's maiden name. Big mistake for any other CR-1's just starting their journey.
It's a real challenge to begin starting to establish a US identity using the husband's surname when all official docs show her maiden name, including but not limited to SSAN's, military ID's, state ID or driver's license, etc. Some others are more forgiving: bank account, insurance but there is relatively little reciprocity between the latter and former so the first step was to apply for a replacement GC with my surname.
One !-90 and a check for $450 allowed the USCIS the privilege of taking 4 1/2 months to process the application and send the replacement.
So a word from the unwise... Time permitting get a replacement / new passport with the husbands surname, file the I-130 and all subsequent aps using the husbands surname and you'll be thankful you did in the long run.

    Why 3AM?
Because you are Pinay, in Manila, with a Filipino cultural mindset! Best to have a leisurely breakfast, show up before 9, let the 3AM throng thin out and join in at the end. You will still be accommodated with a lot less stress. 99% of Pinays won't believe it.

What 'proof of domicile' are you referring to?
When completing the I-130 for my wife and step-daughter, there was no 'proof' required for where either of them or I lived. Just fill out the form with the requested information. Likewise the G-325 bio form, there is no 'proof' required. I guess your signature at the end stating all the above was factual would be considered proof.
I'd leave your mom out the equation. The CR-1 app is a matter between you, your wife and the USCIS/NVC and no one else.

Geez, it's only one day in your life. I've flown the JAL/AA code share 3 times from CMH-ORD-NRT-MNL. JAL flights were certainly better IMHO than the AA legs but in this day and age no airlines are great unless you can afford to travel up front. Food: all is tolerable. Don't expect a gourmet meal. Order the chicken / rice combo and be satisfied.
I'm not trying to be flippant to your concerns but what happens if you cancel, move to Delta or KAL and have bad experience with them? I'd personally recommend using the tickets you have and if required just tolerate what you get. But I'm pretty tolerant of what I get and seldom get 'high blood'.
Have a safe and enjoyable flight on whoever you choose.

As long as you depart even 1 day before the expiration date everything is good. I don't know the date line affects all this so I would plan ticketing at least 2 or 3 days before 6 months after the earliest medical, if that makes sense.
Sounds like the latest date you should plan to leave is sometime in March.

If any members have stayed at their fiancé's or asawa's home before departing for the US, how did you handle the final goodbyes? I'm sure there will be a lot of drama that morning and was wondering how involved I should get. My plan now is to just stand on the sidelines until my wife has done her thing, then step in to make one final assurance that their daughter is leaving in good hands. Get in the van and pull away. Nice and clean.
Is this the best way? Any other suggestions?
