  1. The last touch on my case status saying "interview conducted - case under review" proved to be a good thing... although the online status just shows another touch on 6/7, we were surprised with something in the mail from USCIS - it was the white piece of paper we signed at the interview telling us that we are approved for conditional status and need to apply for removal conditions at a particular time. At that time, it was left blank. They sent it to us that the conditional status was granted on 6/6 and that we need to apply for removal in spring of 09. Still waiting for some confirmation through the CRIS email or a card in the mail. But feeling good about being done for a couple of years.

Good luck Laura (and everyone else) - hopefully your status change will result in a happy conclusion.

  2. Hi all,

we rec'd this email yesterday - is this anything to get excited about? or concerned about? it was the first time we've seen anything since the interview in december and not sure what to make of it.

    Thanks,

    Omid

  5. Hi,

for all those "approved pending checks" - did you receive a white paper at the end of the review explaining security checks are still pending and if you don't hear in 90 days you can email them to inquire? The letter also states "we will monitor the status of your case on a weekly basis and immediately notify you when the security checks are completed and an appt can be scheduled regarding your pending application." Does this mean we'll have to interview again? I could of sworn our AO said that we'll just be notified by mail when it's approved... I should have read this more carefully at the end of the interview last week and clarified with the AO....

  7. We had our AOS interview in San Diego yesterday. There were about 9 or 10 couples in the waiting room... we waited about 20 mins and were the second to last couple called in... we were quite prepared and it served us well... we were kept together... my husband was asked his address, phone number, date of birth, and then when she asked us how we met, I asked her if she wanted me to answer or him, and she said either, so I did most of the talking... explained how we met, how often I went to visit him, I prepared a "summary" album of everything including all the different functions (Afghans love to drag out the process w/ as many parties as possible) - she went through every single picture asking who people were and what the different functions were for and what they meant... she took the album at the end and went to make some copies and gave it back... she also made a copy of my sonogram pics (i'm 12 weeks pregnant) for the file... then we showed proof of our relationship, everything from beneficiary designation forms to medical/dental/life insurance papers, to joint bank accts and credit card info...

then at the end she said security checks are still pending... then I asked her specifically - does this mean we are approved pending those results, and she said yes... so now we're just hoping that the wait isn't too long...

This forum helped me out a lot in preparing - thanks to all!!

  8. We actually got the green card on Yesterday - we were all smiles at the mail box.

Congratulations to you both  and now you can enjoy life for some time before you have to restart this processing for LOC (Lifting of Conditions).

    Mary

Thanks Mary! It's so weird not checking my portfolio every day! :P

Woohooo - 1 year and 9 months off.

That's great Laney - enjoy the year and nine months - i'm sure time goes by a heck of a lot faster when you're not dealing with this stuff so it'll be here before you know it! :P
