Don't you just LOVE THE CAPS!

I have a friend who was married to a foreigner that she met in the US and married several years ago.
He ended up leaving her and pretty much dissapearing all of a sudden.
She discovered that he had hidden his naturalization papers in their house. He had told her that he had not done anything or received anything from INS related to naturalization. She found receipt notices and biometrics appointment letters. She said he stole her BC and forged her name and signature as her name was on fa orm or maybe a receipt notice that he had been sent. She never knew he was naturalizing so it seems that he commited fraud by using her BC and forging her signature.
What should she do? She knows he's in the US but not where exactly and he has not contacted her since he "dissapeared".
She wants to report him to USCIS... who should she contact? I have no idea what happens at the naturalization level so would she contact USCIS or who?
Thanks!!
Sarah
She should report him for fraud, but I would get her to seek legal advice from an attorney rather than anyone else's word on it.
I would assume, if your friend married this guy "several years ago", he's probably on his 10 year GC by now?
Or she could just leave it be and let Karma/kama (whatever!) do it's work!

I just got mine yesterday and only had to show my SS card and my EAD card.
That was it!
(And I passed!)

Congrats Paul!
It's a shame our long lost twin act didn't continue!
-
Congrats!
Now, what's the delay with the rest of us?

I had my appointment today at USCIS-Baltimore around 230pm. I had to wait for like an hour & a half before I was called.. The interviewer asked me to swear to tell the truth then asked me to sit down. He asked me all sorts of questions, which I believe, I answered well. Stuff like addresses, if I have work permit ( I didn't apply for one), if I have committed any crime, involved in illegal organizations & all that... My husband wasn't able to go with me because he is currently deployed in Iraq.. I showed him proof which was a letter from his chain of command that he is currently deployed... My interview didn't take too long.. just 15 minutes tops. I even showed him our album , pictures, gave him a copy of my military id along with my hubby's latest payslips... After the interview, he told me that they will review my case & told me to just wait as I will receive a decision in the mail.. I asked him for how long? he said he has no idea.. He didn't stamp anything in my passport nor took my I-94... What does this mean? I'm kind of anxious because he wasn't giving me any clue if I got approved or not.... Does this mean I'm denied? Pls help me...anyone with a similar case..
I've read about this on here before. You have a legit case and in previous experiences of others I've seen here, it's just procedure and you should get your yes in the mail.
This is just my opinion and I'd be surprised if I'm wrong on this.

EAD touched again today. Nothing on AOS yet...
-
Congrats on the approval, Katie! I've been out of work for 4 months also because of this. Monster.com has got me some good replies just by posting my resume and I'm now trying careerbuilder.com. That's just incase you wanted any help? I do as I'm finding it hard after so long off work!
I wasn't too happy when I just read someone got approved after 15 days from the CSC transfer! I mean, it must have sat there without time to collect dust, then there's some of us waiting here for over a month!
-
Hi all, today (late) I also got an email and checked the USCIS site and they sent me an email saying the application has been approved for EAD. Different than the email of last week as this one just confirmed a letter on the way as opposed to the card. For a moment, when I saw the CRIS email, I thought that was my AOS!
Paul, what are you looking to do for work? I've signed up on Monster.com. I can also get my Social Security Card updated and get a drivers license!
Congrats to all other approvals!
James.
PS. I like the way the card says I can work from 10/4, even though they approved on 10/10 and it got here 10/16!

Hi all!
Got my Employment card in the mail today. Don't think much of the pic!
It expires next October, so am I right that the Green Card can be used in it's place when it arrives?
Katie, that's good news! Makes me feel better!
-
I thought I'd comment on this thread today as no one else has yet.
I hope to get touched or some update on my AOS this week! It would have been a month since hearing something about it. I know there are some others with a similar timeline to mine. Any thoughts?
-
Morning all!
For some reason, my EAD was touched again today despite yesterday's approval!
Katie, I believe some people got their approvals without even getting a notification of arrival at the CSC (for the file). I read the latest update about it being transfered there and it doesn't say to expect anything but a decision from them.
James.

Well the waiting saga continues.....my case still hasn't been received by CSC even though the USCIS claim it was transferred there on 14 September. My EAD hasn't been touched since August 22 either so looks like I'm still gonna be the stay at home wife for a little longer...here's hoping for a few touches and approvals for everyone in the next few days!
Katie
Hey Katie. Look at my timeline. They sent my AOS on the same date, but I've heard nothing since and my EAD was received there on 3rd August. We're in the same boat for AOS and I would assume your EAD will get touched in a week or a little over. My EAD wasn't touched for just over 2 months!
Hold in there!
James.

Hey James,
Your timeline is sooo close to mine!! it's spooky
Have you received any type of notification at all for your AOS since the CSC transfer??? that seems strange!
still at least you will be able to work soon
Paul
Hi Paul.
Yes, it is very close!
I've heard nothing, but then it says you can't chase it up until 60 days have passed from last communication.
I'm happy to be allowed to work again!
-
Hi all. Been reading this thread for a few weeks to see how others saga's have compared to mine.
I have been emailed by EAD approval today! I am now awaiting the AOS part. This was transferred to the CSC on Sept 14 and I have not had a notification of arrival yet. I guess I should just wait and I'll soon get touched on that?
James.

Are you near the Magical World of Diznee? Maybe you can apply there?
Alternatively, get an evening/night time job so you can use the car. It's easy to get a drivers license in the USA.
-
It can be hard because you're restricted. I guess it's a new start!
-
Hi Kath,
Looks like we have a similar timeline...I'm still waiting for the AOS to end!
I live about half an hour north of Houston on I45...nr the Woodlands. I also know places that sell English junk food!

Ignore 'him'.

Anyone have any experience with Houston, Texas as a point of entry? Thanks!
I came in and got pulled aside for an hour of waiting in an office with mainly mexicans. Then I got to see someone who asked about why I was there and my religion. I had to explain to the first guy that I was getting married and he asked (again) how long I was staying. He seemed new and it didn't settle my nerves any!
I prefer Dallas.

Hi,
I'll be moving to US on spouse visa in a year or so. We live in japan now. We have consular approval but haven't done green card application yet 'cos too early.
I'm worried that I will arrive without any credit history in the US and would like to prepare somehow. Has anyone had any experience with new resident credit issues? Can I transfer credit history from abroad? Is there anything I can do to build credit before I have an address and a social security number?
Thanks for your help
Jan
Don't bother. Once you get to the USA, your credit is zero and you will need to start from scratch.

I plan on attending the interview with my fiance. Was wondering, after the interview, do they stamp your passport at that exact moment so we can jump on a plane the next day to the states or do they make you wait?
Hi. They will keep it and send it via Courier. You will be told to go to the Courier desk and pay a small fee and the passport with enclosed Visa should arrive at your address within a few days. Mine was about 2 days!

So, there wont be any issues with my father in-law just filling out the other paperwork? I'm just wondering if the AOS person might get annoyed???
-
Hi,
We've encountered an issue with our Co Sponsor. When I was in the UK, my step-father in-law was my affidavit of support and even completed the paperwork required. I went to the Embassy, got approved and am now in the US. Lauren and I married last weekend and were in the process of preparing the remainder of our paperwork for the AOS Interview. Included is a part for the Co Sponsor to fill out and sign. Our Co Sponsor has now said he does not want to complete these forms all down to family issues.
What can we do now???
Lauren's biological father earns more and is more than willing to be our Co Sponsor. Can we do that and what happens now???
Alternatively, I have the funds from the sale of my home in the UK. Can this help???
Appreciate any help!
Thanks!

Well, my case is still suffering from lack of updates as it is still at Sept 14th! I just called USCIS and reached a friendly lady who advised me to call InfoPass as they couldn't tell me anymore than I already knew.
So, I am currently filling out details on InfoPass and it's saying I have to go to the actual office. I've read before that people can do this over the phone. What's the deal? I know this is all down to the FBI check as my name is common...there are 4 people with my name in this town alone!
Thanks!
