Congratulations!!! I’m wac1808****.
Was your case transfered?
Did you received a Courtesy copy for 18month Ext?
do you have a lawyer?
Thanks!! If you look a couple of posts back, I had included further detail. Also, feel free to read my timeline. No, not transferred. Yes to 28 month courtesy letter. No, I had Visajourney for all the referencing pages, advice and guides. 😊

Ok, a little backwards, but I’ll accept it. We got my official approval notice today via email and text. AFTER the “green card is being produced” notice 🤪. At the bottom of the card production notice it still said you case is under review. So now it’s official and we wait for the approval letter and new green card to arrive! Fine by us. As long as they arrive without any hiccups. As you can see in the photo we are a WAC 1726 case number, filing at the CSC.

Did not apply for citizenship, as the silly me just scanned the front of my green card and forgot to scan the back before giving it up for the i-551 stamp. Realized the mistake when trying to complete the N-400 and reaching the part where it asks for the both sides of the green card 😁
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!! 😁
I'll have to do some reading on the application for citizenship process. However, when I went for the stamp in my greed card, the agent didn't keep it my conditional green card. Instead he paper clipped it to my passport. Having read up on it before hand, I thought he should've kept it, but wasn't about to correct him. Soooo, I still have it.

You will need to file a us income tax, with foreign income for tax year 2018. I would recommed that you contact the Canadian employer and ask them to take "non resident" income tax...which is usually a flat rate 25%. I am in a situation where my pervious employer took 35 % and now I am fighting to get the 10% back from CRA.
When you file your 2018 with the IRS, the Canadian income tax will most likely out weigh the US tax owed even with the exchange.
Ok, Thank-you so much. I will contact them right away and make this request.

I am Canadian waiting for my conditions to be removed. Out of the blue, I got an e-mail from the school board I had worked for before leaving Canada. It turns out the past and present employees are eligible for retro pay of some kind and I qualify. Are there any issues foreseen with this, or advice? Other than claiming it on our taxes. I m not sure of the amount at this point, so it may not be substantial. I just thought I would ask ahead of time so that I am in the know.

Congratulations to all that got approved! Hopefully ours isn't far behind.

Very true Adam. This was a perfect scenario for us as we are close to our service center (Only an hour away). Good luck with yours. Having to travel back and forth like that would get costly and add more to your case. My intention was to update our progress, and touch on some information that some have been posting about. Bottom line it's progress and we're all getting there, hopefully without any glitches. Good luck and keep us posted

They are supposedly mailing out 18 month extension letters to everyone with a pending application but the execution seems rather spotty. Some have received the letter, others (like my wife) have not. The passport stamp was easy to get for my wife. I guess it all depends on how easy it is to get an infopass appointment at your local office and how far it is from you.
Hopefully you get action by Christmas. 😀
My husband and I just went on Monday and got the passport stamp in my passport. It was easy, just brought id's, passports extension letter with case numbers etc, They verified this information, stamped and signed my passport, extending my conditional green card for another year. THEN, I received the 18 month extension letter yesterday ~ ha!
While I was my local office, I asked about the "Your case was transferred to you local office" notification that many have gotten, myself included. The agent said he's not sure why people are getting that notice. He said "We don't make green cards here." He didn't seem to think it was an indication of anything. (Sorry guys) We also discussed the current wait times being 18-21 months, so the 18 month letter may or may not cover the extension, especially for filers at the California office. Therefore, I'm glad I went BEFORE I received the extension letter.

As my green card was going to expire 09/15. I chose not to wait for the 18th month extension letter. and made an appointment for the i155 stamp instead. We just went on Monday and got the i155 stamp in my passport, thus extending my conditional green card for another year. Like the rest of you, I received the 18 month extension letter in the mail on Friday (yesterday) as well. I will go ahead and file this notice, as the stamp extended my green card for a full year, not another 6 months. The processing times for the California Service center is approximately 18-21 months currently ~ So now, I should be on the outside of these processing times and fingers crossed, everything lines up.

The seller is correct. You are not a non-immigrant alien, you are a US permanent resident.
Confirmation from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives site and their definition of who is a nonimmigrant alien.
Ok, that's great news and it puts my mind at ease! I wasn't sure and didn't want anything come back to bite me. Thanks for your quick reply, now i can relax.

When filling out this form when applying for the purchase of a firearm: www.atf.gov/file/61446/download
I have my conditional greencard and wonder how I am to answer question 11(l), 12 and 13. Do I still put "yes" to non-immigrant visa question 11(l)? The seller was under the impression that I was to answer "No" because I am a permanent resident and do have my green card. Being cautious, I wonder if this is correct information/advice or not? I did get approval, but thought I'd still verify this. Can anyone help/advise?

I would also ask how soon after you cross the border are you getting married? Our wedding was only two weeks after my arrival. In our case we waited until after the wedding before getting the ssn or drivers license and then applied for the aos with the married name and new ID numbers. I must say though I needed a passport and a piece of mail addressed to me at my U.S. residence as proof of me living here. Thank goodness I had registered for a store mailing list. Who knew it would be such an crutial piece of mail. So oerhaos register for a mailing list and have mail delivered to yoh at yohr US address. Anyways. I also needed my driving history. Perhaps contact your licensing office now and have them mail you your driving record and history ahead of time. Once I had all this plus my marriage certificate. I was able to get my drivers license in my married name. I found it super easy to obtain my SSN overall. Fillout the SSN application form have your drivers licence - your old one works, your passort and in my case- my marriage certificate. I obtained my social security number in my new married name. If your wedding date is a ways off. Then yes you'll have to applly for your ssn and drivers license in your maiden name, the chNge them after your wedding day. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Ok. Prefect. Thanks. I think it was the information and classificationin regards to taxes etc that confused me. When filing taxes here I read you would put immigrant alien. It being an application for a Canadian LIRA account for a transfer from my Canadian OMERS I should be fine putting nonimmigrant alien as my status? At least I hope so...Just trying to do it right. This grey area in between stuff, is for the birds! Loll
-
Kinda of off topic, but...I have received the receive the EAD/AP combo card. I am filling out some banking papers and was asked what my status is withing the US. At this point, I am kind of confused about that. What do we put down? Non-resident alien??

Ok, and cadets wouldn't be considered military training either would it? It may sound silly, and I feel silly asking it even. I wouldn't think they count, but they capitalize "EVER" when they ask the question. Which is what made me wonder.
-
I am going through form i-485 and came across question 18. It asks if you have ever received any military, paramilitary or weapons training. I haven't been in the military or anything, but did take a hunters education and firearms safety course. Would this be considered weapons training? Do I answer yes to this question?

Medical - Check
*please note they asked for 5 photos, not 3. Then I still needed two passport type photos for the interview. So be sure to have 7 passport type pictures, there is a photo book in the consulate waiting room if you end up needing more. (I had read previous that they might, so I was prepared)
Interview - Check
APPOROVED! Thanks so much for all your help and support up to this point! Good luck and best wishes to all in their journeys
-
Hmmm... I hadn't read it on any of the form that I would need the petitioner's birth certificate for the interview. I just had my medical today and am waiting for the interview on Friday. Should I worry about this and have him send me a scanned copy of his birth certificate in case? and what if I didn't have a copy on hand?
-
Thank-you. Medical and interview booked and it's in three weeks! Yay! Work booked off, flight and hotel booked. Now to try to focus and remain calm until then
-
WOW! I e-mailed pkt 3 yesterday and received pkt 4 via email already this afternoon!
-
Scratch that! I just checked again and it's reading ready!! I read a post to check in the immigrant status check and it worked! Apparently they received it on the 24th, a small unnecessary delay, but it could be worse! Just happy they received it! Yay!
-
I checked the status and it reads "no status" Our case was shipped from the NVC to mtl conulate on Sept17. I'll keep checking. In the mean time, I went ahead and sent in pkt3 via e-mail I hope I didn't make a mistake in doing so...
-
Ok, thank-you. I guess I will go ahead and submit pkt 3 now. Thanks again for your help
June 2017 I-751 filers
in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion

Well after the case was approved. We got an update that the card was produced. Another notice that the card was mailed, then a notice that the green card arrived. Both my green card and official approval letter arrived in the mail today! (only 2 days after approval notice) YAY!! 😍 It's hard to wait for all of us, and quite the process we've all gone, or are going through. We've learnt a lot along the way! They are going through the June 2017 ROC filers. It'll be your turn soon. Thanks to everyone on here who offer great advice and helped guide us through. We couldn't have done it without the support system in place here. Again, Thank-you all.
