    Hello all...
June 12, 2018 "We are producing your card and will mail it to you"
June 13 " We approved your case"
My receipt number is WAC17091 ... date 12/28/2016
So, the update was in the DHS website, nothing yet in USCIS/check status....no email...no txt msg.....and I got the Feb/2018 glitch (local office etc)
Now I have to wait for the notice in the mail or the card so I can finally say its the real thing and not a glitch, lol..

If you are talking about getting a new passport at Direccion Nacional De Pasaportes, yes you can expedite it, its called VIP, paying extra fee, if you do everything before noon you get it the same day, after noon then you get it the next day.

abby12 got a reaction from sddude89 in Traveling with green card expired and extension letter
    I'm Dominican.
About your question...technically, the expired green card and extension letter is used to return to the US, so is the immigration in the US that would allow entry or not, and the airlines just make sure the letter is valid etc. When I went to the DR, I only showed my passport and when I returned, I presented the passport, green card and extension letter to the airline and then to the CBP in the US. I don't see why a dominican immigration officer would not allow entry to the Dominican Republic with the expired green card, extension letter and passport because those documents are not for dominican immigration laws concerns, is for the US.

Now, the only issue I would see that would make sense is if the passport is about to expire, or if the country of origin of the person  is one of those few countries that need to apply for a dominican visa and  do not qualify for a tourist card that can be filled at the airport and pay a fee. For more info check this website  http://www.domrep.org/visa.html#Tarjeta

    Hope if this helps

Yes, in Haitian folk religion/medicine many villagers believe in "perdition", a baby trapped for years in the mothers womb.
Here is a book about it >>>> http://users.clas.ufl.edu/murray/research/haiti/Phantom_Child_in_Haitian_Voodoo.pdf
    Anthropologists have studied this belief.
It can be used to mask infidelity on the women's part or serves to prevent a breakup while trying to keep the man with her, she also must tell any new
husband that she is in "perdition" from a previous relationship. Some symptoms actually come with it, perhaps brought on by psychological
pressures as in psychosomatic signs and symptoms. Entire villages truly believe this is happening.
Read through the pages and it may make better sense to you.
It is very difficult to convince some people that such deep rooted beliefs are untrue and it would take time to steer them to reality once
they are no longer in such an environment.
It does not surprise me, I have heard other (to us ridiculous) claims from other cultures and because they believe it and aren't as educated as
we are in medicine doesn't mean that they are dishonest.

My comments may not be welcome, considering I'm a CSC filer, but it's right here in this sentence that lays the problem on this message board it seems. CSC filers shouldn't be made to feel guilty for having a quick approval time nor should a CSC filer tell a TSC filer to "be patient". I don't think anyone who was approved quickly is intentionally sticking a middle finger to anyone who's still waiting, it's great news to get an NOA2 and it's on this message board where people like to share it. If a TSC filer wants to enter a thread of CSC approvals then they're asking to get angry (and for a good reason). Having said that you TSCers have a right to be angry, the difference in processing times is ridiculous and I've always felt that even if I'm not experiencing it. But taking it out on people here on VJ isn't going to help. Venting about it is fine, I get that, it's good to get things off your chest and have someone understand you.
Personally I know what it's like to be apart from a loved one, I did it for two years before being able to live with him in a different country and even though my K-1 process is almost at an end, this time around I was apart from my fiance for 7 months. So I understand what it means to be apart from your soul mate. It's a bit unfair to point a finger at a CSC filer and say "you don't understand how hard it is to be apart" when people like me HAVE already been apart for long periods of time. Ultimately it's a shame that this is dividing a community, like TSC filers and CSC filers have to stick to their own sides of the message board. I've gotten to know a TSC filer who's still waiting and it's been awesome talking to her. She hasn't made me feel guilty about my processing time nor have I told her to "be patient, it'll all be fine". We're all people at the end of the day, so I guess the point of my post is to just keep in mind that everyone has their own story and to be mindful of that. All the best.

Many of the people who are approved quickly are newbies and have no idea there is a longer waiting period to be approved through TSC, I don;t think they are gloating, I think that they are simply happy. If the tables were turned you would be happy, as well. I have yet to see a single person say.."oh look at us, we were approved in a week and you suckers at TSC are still waiting at 6 months neener neener" That is the way you are coming across. No one has any control over the service center they get. If people want to share their quick approvals I don;t think others should make them feel guilty over something they have no control over. At some point in each and every person's journey at some point you will have to wait. Whether it's at the petition stage at USCIS, or at the NVC, or AP after the interview, or at AOS, removing conditions, naturalization....For us our petition was approved quickly, but after my husband's interview he had AP . Then when we removed conditions we waited 7 months when others were waiting merely days or a few weeks. We applied for removal of conditions the same exact day as friends of ours. Their removal of conditions approval came in literally 11 days, same service center, our husbands are even from the same country. When their approval came so fast she was afraid to tell me because she didn't want me to be sad. But I wasn;t sad or upset or jealous, quite the contrary. I was VERY happy for them. Why wouldn't I be?
I know waiting isn't easy, when my husband was in AP the sadness of not knowing when his visa would be issued was stressful. But we made the best of it. I didn't sit on visa journey night and day and cry or get upset over all of the approvals of others who applied well after us, I shared in their joy and knew our day would come. There is a woman I met here way back when I first found VJ in early 2012, her husband is from Pakistan, she petitioned her husband more than a full year before us in late 2010, his interview was 13 months before my husband's. Her husband was put into AP for over 2 years and then they denied his visa and sent it back to USCIS for revocation. In September of 2014 they sent their rebuttal and they are STILL waiting. They have been married for 5 years and are still not together. She has only been able to visit her husband once for a week during these 5 years because her daughter has a brain tumor and she is afraid to leave her. From day one she greeted me with open arms here in VJ, sharing in our joy every step of the way. She has helped literally dozens and dozens of other couples here, never complaining, never showing anger or jealousy. Yes they are sad that they have waited so long, but they know that their journey will eventually be over and he will get is visa. They are a true testament of strength, courage and grace...

In my opinion as an experience person who has completed the whole immigration thing from fiancé to US citizenship for my British husband without a stumble--
    1. More is not better if it overloads your file so much they can't find the relevant things that actually count. The important required things to document are:
--one is a US citizen (birth certificate)
--both are free to marry (divorce decrees if applicable)
--and intend to marry within 90 days (statements from each)
--have met in person at least once in the last two years
    2. Nowhere in the actual USCIS instructions does it say you have to convince them of your undying love with a hundred pages of Skype messages and social medial fluff. Maybe there is a usefulness to showing some communication samples if one is American and the other is Chinese, but you two speak English as your native language.
    3. Half a dozen photos is good. Twenty is clutter.
    4. If any part of this process requires more than a Priority Mail (light cardboard) flat mailer, you are sending too much.
    5. A color inkjet printer/scanner/copier is the BEST investment you can buy when you start immigration. This is just the beginning of years of paperwork. Don't depend on the office copy machine. Keep records of everything you mail off. But yes black and white will be okay for your photocopies.
Now I'll quit preaching because it isn't even Sunday. Good luck to you.

abby12 reacted to Nich-Nick in AOS after K1, quick question - do I need to get i694?
The medical form by a Civil Surgeon is I-693 (not 694) What is the risk? You are here and aren't separated anymore. So what if you got an RFE? So what If your greencard takes a few extra weeks? Does that change your daily life much? Save your money if all your shots are on the DS-3025. My answer to your question is still true--
Do I need a medical exam?
What if I am a K nonimmigrant visa holder and already had a medical exam overseas?

If you were admitted as a:
    A. K-1 fiancé(e) or a K-2 child of a K-1 fiancé(e); or as a
    B. K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen or a K-4 child of a K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen; and
    C. You received a medical examination prior to admission, then:
    1. You are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination, and the medical examination did not reveal a Class A medical condition, or if you did have a Class A medical condition, you received a waiver of inadmissibility and have complied with the terms and conditions on the waiver.
    2. Even if a new medical examination is not required, you must still show proof that you complied with the vaccination requirements. If the vaccination record (DS 3025) was not properly completed and included as part of the original overseas medical examination report, you will have to have the vaccination report completed by a designated civil surgeon. In this case, you are required to submit the vaccination record and page 1 of Form I-693.
(From the I-693 instructions page 5.)Do you need an I-693 immunization sheet? Is my DS-3025 filled out properly?
Look at your DS-3025. If it has the ALL of the following items, you don't need an I-693 (Adults 19-49 yrs old).
    1. Shots marked with a date (at least one of a series)
MMR (two are required but if you have the column "insufficient time interval" checked, then you get a waiver. Having one shot is often okay but the waiver beng marked is the surest thing. )
Td or Tdap or DT or DTP or DtaP (One dated no longer than 10 years ago, or have a booster)
Varicella or VH written by it if you had chickenpox
Influenza (during flu season)** see note below because you are most likely okay without it.
    2. Everything else marked not age appropriate, insufficient time interval, not flu season...things that allow a waiver.
    3. RESULTS section filled in with "incomplete" and "may be eligible for blanket waiver" ticked or "complete" (but complete is rare).
    4. Signed and dated by the doctor
If it's not completed EXACTLY like that then see a civil surgeon for the I-693. If it is complete, send a photocopy of your DS-3025. Almost isn't good enough. It needs to be filled out properly.
The USCIS is supposed to have your K1 medical files, but sometimes lose them or fail to match them up with your AOS. Do not get another exam unless you get an RFE that says they do not have results of your medical. It means they lost them, but you are probably stuck with paying for a new exam. Those kinds of RFE's are not about the immunizations or the form I-693; they are because USCIS failed to match up your other medical exam results with your AOS application.
**Note on flu shot: Flu shots are required for adults of all ages (changed Nov 2010) if your visa exam was between (Oct 1 and March 31). But if the AOS adjudicator picks up your case when it is not flu season, you will be excused. And the reverse is true. The adjudicator picks up your case during flu season, but sees it was NOT flu season when you had your medical exam, you are also excused because the date they go by is the date of your exam to determine if you were current on that date. Keep in mind that if you go to a civil surgeon for an I-693, then you are resetting the medical exam date for immunizations and you may have to get second doses of shots or a flu shot to become current on your new immunization date of record.
What if I only had one dose of MMR and it's marked "insufficient time interval"? Do I need to another dose and must I see a civil surgeon before AOS?
NO you do not need to see a civil surgeon unless USCIS loses the whole medical file you turned in at POE. If you were up to date the day that DS-3025 was signed, then you're okay without getting 2nd or 3rd doses. You can get them for your health, or you can not get them ever. It was not medically appropriate for you to get dose 2 on top of dose 1. There's a time interval for doses. So you get a waiver for "insufficient time interval" if that is marked on your DS-3025.
If you are one of the unlucky ones with a lost medical, then you will have to get a full medical again. By then, enough time would have passed for dose 2 so expect the CS to say you need it. Hopefully it won't come to that.
If you just chose not to get a second dose that was due (because it was more than 4 weeks since dose 1) then you wouldn't have that "insufficient time interval" waiver marked on your DS-3025. It was medically fine to have the second dose and you didn't. You aren't complete and have no waiver excuse. You may be approved and may not. Depends on the adjudicator
    What if I don't have a DS-3025?
If you are positive that you got the needed shots, then actually mailing in a DS-3025 photocopy is not necessary. The original form is with your other medical results and was turned over to USCIS at POE. That's actually the one that counts because it remained in the "chain of custody" so you didn't have an opportunity to alter it. The photocopy isn't really an official copy and is more for a reminder that you got complete at your visa exam. Of course without having a copy, you don't have the opportunity to see if the rest of the form was completed correctly.

The answer to this question depends on your state law, as well as whether your then-husband has kids and made a will.
Be aware that such questions are considered quite inappropriate in US culture; after all, you are not even married yet and you are thinking not in terms of how you can keep him healthy, but about the minutae of his death and property distribution after.

    Yes, what Stefani recommended.
Check this link from the US Embassy in DR, http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/k1-k2_instructions.html it has the same instructions that the beneficiary will get in the mail.
The police report, certificado de Buena conducta expires in 30 days, so make sure it is not due before or around the day of the interview.
The DS-160 online, you need a digital copy of the 2x2 photos that you need to upload to complete that form. And yes, the 156K form has to be signed in front of the CO.
You said you have an email copy? what email? I got my packet IV via email and its the same as the one you will get by Dominican postal service, I used that one for the medical exam at the consultorios de visa and for the bank. The Consultorios de visa recommend to do the medical 15 days before the day of the interview. Does the beneficiary has the actual interview letter?? it says the day and hour of the interview.
The petioner has to fill out form I-134, and need to have on hand the W2, IRS, bank statements, etc (read the I-134 instructions), check the Visajourney's guides tab. Also more evidence since the application date to closer to the interview. Just in case.
If you do not have the packet IV, either by email or Dominican postal service, call the US Embassy first thing Monday morning, and explain that you have a interview date but no packet IV.

Nope,. the interviews are schedule dby the US Embassy/Consulate.. when your case gets approved, and sent to the DR, they will send you a letter with the interview letter with the day and time, and instructions to follow (fees, birth certificate, etc).
Take a day off to go the medical check up at the Consultorios de Visa with the interview letter, you don't have to make an appointment, but you have to go like 15 days before the day of the interview, then wait 3-5 days to pick up your results.
    Good luck!!

Hey I drove around the new US Embassy/Consulate here in the DR, and I just found a hotel, a small hotel...so small that it is actually called...Micro Hotel Suites and Condo....seriously..no joke....(hahaha) I didn't see it before tho.
Anyway, it is located in the same avenue as the US Embassy/Consulate and it has been there for 7 years (according to them). Ave Republica de Colombia No.10, Altos de Arroyo Hondo. ph. 809-368-1100 microhotelcondosuites@hotmail.com and it is kinda close of the International Airport La Isabella. I would say it's like 300m from the Consulate. (I'm terrible with the distances), and it's around US$60 per night, includes breakfast.
I have to say, I have never been there, I saw some photos in a website, looks "ok"...can't say anything else about the service, rooms, etc.
So, at least something close to the new place?

The police certificate (buena conducta) she has to get it at the Procuradoria, but it expires in 30 days, so she can get it closer to the day of the interview.
She can fill out the DS160 and get the recent 2x2 photos, remember she needs a digital copy to upload it for the form...and the medical check up at Consultorio de Visa, at least 10-15 days prior to the interview...but maybe wait until you get the NVC letter that will inform you that your case has been sent to the US consulate.
    PS., cute couple
