  1. We're headed to the Western side of Germany! :) My husband is insistent on visiting the town Husum, since apparently, our last name originates from there. We expect to visit Cologne, etc. Basically, a week-long road trip around the country. I'm excited!! What shouldn't we miss, west of Frankfurt?

Congrats on the interview and the new job! That rocks!

Thanks! Wow, how exciting! You HAVE to go to my home town Hamburg, it's in the north and not far from Husum. It's really beautiful and there's a lot to see, especially in the summer: the Alster, Jungfernstieg, the port, Speicherstadt, Planten un Blomen, Hafencity (in case you want to google some of that to see pictures). Another destination I can recommend is the town Hamelin. Its town center is full of houses from the 16th and 17th century with paintings on them. You may have heard the legend of The Pied Piper of Hamlin? :) Let me know if you need more information or if you have questions :)

    here are a couple pictures.....lol

Good luck with your journey ..... it feels so fab to be done with this part of my journey!!!!!

    Xo

Yay, how exciting! Congratulations on both :) So happy for you! You guys have the cutest little baby :)

  2. Hey everyone, any good (or bad) news? I know a few of you have gotten GC by now and boy are we jealous. We received interview waiver letter a while ago. Kind of assumed it would happen but it was still disheartening to get it! For now we are keeping busy by planning our big party for this upcoming May - and planning a move to Denver! Hoping that we can save enough to move by fall. What's new with everyone?

Yay, how exciting! It sounds like you guys have a lot of exciting things going on soon :)

We're knee-deep in planning our trip to Europe this summer (under the guise of taking my stepson to visit his mother)

I wish we could go to Europe in the summer!

Here's what's new with us: I just got my interview letter last week: we will be going in for the interview late-April :) Also, I got really lucky and found an entry-level job in the field I'm interested in (HR) really fast! I stared about a month ago after my two best friends from Germany visited us. So far, I like it a lot :)

I'm excited to read everyone else's news :)

  3. *cough* California *cough* haha

California is pretty awesome! My husband is originally from Vegas (haha, yes people live there), that's where we met during my foreign exchange year. I always thought that was where we would end up living, even though I always loved our trips to California. Now that he is stationed in San Diego and we live here I have to admit that I am starting to really love this place more and more every day! I am not so sure about wanting to move back to Vegas anymore once he gets out of the military :)

I've been keeping myself really busy with all kinds of crafty stuff around the house. I love DIY projects and I never really had as much time as I had liked to have for it. So finally, here I am surrounded by all these things I made or fixed all by myself :)

I'm just starting to apply for jobs and I hope I'll be able to find something I'll like!

We still love every minute of living and going on fun little dates together!

I can't believe it has almost been a year since we applied for the K1-Visa! Time really flew by faaaast!

I always love reading about what's new with all of you guys :) I hope all is well with everyone!

  4. Hi everyone!

It's been so long! We got married on Oct 4 and finalllly filed for AOS 2 weeks ago. We just felt like it was an overwhelming amount of paperwork so we kept on procrastinating. When we actually started getting everything together though it didn't seem as bad haha!

Right now, I'm still keeping myself busy with furnishing and decorating our house while waiting for my EAD. We pretty much started off with nothing furniture-wise. Chris is in the military so he didn't need anything up until now and I didn't bring any of my stuff.

The past weeks have been so exciting, though! We love being around each other every day and enjoy every minute of it :) It still feels a little surreal that we LIVE together now!

I hope all of you guys are doing great! Fingers crossed our USCIS 'adventures' won't take too long!

  5. Tina, congratulations! On all of it. When do you arrive? ?

Thank you! I still can't believe how fast time just fleeeew by. I arrive on October 1 :) Two (busy) months to go!

I've arrived in the USA and am just waiting for my connecting flight up to Ohio. It feels so good to finally be here! POE review will follow shortly! Good luck to everybody else still going through the process of getting over here to your loved one!

    Congrats, how exciting!

HELP we had our interview Tuesday. They said we were approved. The status on CEAC was in Administrative Processing but now it is back to Ready what does this mean???

I wouldn't worry about that too much, especially because of the Visa issues they're having right now :) (http://www.nbcnews.com/business/travel/u-s-passport-visa-operations-gummed-glitch-n163751)

Johan and his son arrived last night in Los Angeles! He said POE officer asked him a boatload of questions. Today is chill and unpacking. We went to the grocery store today. That was an experience! Haha. Monday is the big day! Hopefully filing AOS by Friday...

    Yay, so happy for you!

  6. Hi, in case your question is refering to the procedures in Frankfurt, Germany (you stated Costa Rica as your country), here's a thread I started a few weeks ago: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/501556-frankfurt-germany-new-interview-scheduling-procedure-for-k1s/#entry7081356

This is was for a K1, though so I'm not sure if the same procedure would apply to a CR1. Hope this helps!

  7. First of all, I want to catch up on congratulating everyone on their approvals, POEs and WEDDINGS! That is so exciting! Rachel, that picture you posted of the two of you is such a cute picture!

I've been so busy lately because I'm about to graduate college here in Germany! My fiance is in the middle of his transit from his overseas duty station so it's been a little crazy the past few weeks haha! However, we finally set a wedding date a few weeks ago and figured out how and where we want to get married :) And, I finally got my flight!

Hi, everyone! Hope all is going well! 11 days until our wedding and we are super excited!!! I do have a question though! Ben went to apply for his social security number today and they told him that everything should already be taken care of and he should have it before the 24th (3 weeks after he arrived) I found this a little weird because I've read everywhere that you have to apply for one...anyone else hear or go through anything like this?? Thanks in advance!

I have never read anything about receiving it automatically. However, I have read some horror stories on here about people having some real trouble getting their SSN. From what I've read, some employees are misinformed or simply don't know the rules of the K1. You should definitely try going back and applying for it :)

    OMG I AM SO FRUSTRATED!!!

So we finally heard from Montreal. Everything is fine with the Divorce Decree, but now they are asking Proof of my Liquid Assets????? What the heck! My income ALONE is a enough. I also put how much I have in my bank account on the I-134 for backup and gave Andre my bank statements. Is this what they're asking for?? I don't even know anymore :crying:

Abby, I'm so sorry! Sending positive vibes your way! :goofy:

  8. WE WERE APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ben told me that as the lady was looking at our pictures she gave a few awww's and when she was finished she said that she could see how in love we were!!!!

    Yaaay! Congratulations!

... my dad booked jakes flight with united miles and the miles for one way from LHR were super low--so anyone who has miles, use them! We only had to pay $200 for our ticket! Not usually a fan of united but was surprised with the deals for one-way tickets + miles--hope the tip helps someone here :) now I can't wait the 11 days and am nervous about his Newark POE!

That's awesome! I plan on using my miles for my flight, too!

In case some of you don't have a mileage account yet: I would recommend to just set up an account - just in case! You never know how much you might end up travelling and a few miles here and there might get you a free flight one day :)

  9. Thanks for this Tina. This will be very helpful to my Fiancee when she goes through this sometime fairly soon. Our NOA1 was 3-11-2014, so I can't imagine it'll be horribly long before our NOA2 & then this phase. I'm guessing we must wait an additional 1.5-5 months.

Good luck! I hope you get your NOA2 soon :)

Feel free to write on here or message me if you guys have any questions!

Bei mir wird die ganze Zeit "There is no status update available for the passport number submitted" angezeigt...

Da stand dann aber nur 'Passport has been received from the consular section, and is currently being processed for delivery' ohne Verfolgungsnummer.

  11. Hi,

I just wanted to let everyone who will be going through Frankfurt, Germany know that there may be a new interview scheduling procedure for K1 visa applicants as of June.

Instead of getting Packet 4 in the mail I got an email after the Consulate had received my Packet 3 saying that my 'request to schedule has been approved' (I guess they're referring to the last page one is able to get to in the ustraveldocs-account before sending off Packet 3). I then logged into my account and was able to pick an interview date on my own (there was a calender with lots of open interviews). Shortly after scheduling my interview online I got an email with my Appointment Confirmation (including 2 barcodes). That Appointment Confirmation was also available in my ustraveldocs-account and I was able to download it as a pdf-file there.

I haven't heard of anyone else being able to schedule their own interview yet. That's why I feel like it would be very helpful for anyone who will be going through Frankfurt in the future to find out whether this was just an odd exception or a new procedure.

Thanks to anyone who can contribute (eg. confirm) to this! :)

    Tina

  12. Thanks everyone! I just picked up my visa a little while ago from the post office  (they tried to deliver it yesterday but I wasn't home). So to be fair to the Consulate (which has been so fast and efficient with everything!) my "in hand date" is June 17. This is getting so crazy real! haha

One quick question about the stuff I got from the Consulate: the "sealed envelope" isn't actually a completely closed envelope, right? One of the corners of the envelope is missing (enough to see the top right corner of your original I-129F inside) but there's no way I could pull anything out without ripping it open.

I'm sorry to hear about your 221g's, Abby and Robynne! I'm sure it won't take long before you get approved. Both seem like a rather easy fix :)

Congrats on everyone's NOA2s, interview approvals, issued updates, Visas and flights!

Semi off topic BUT has anyone else seen the new(ish) TV program called '90 days to wed'? It's about k1 visas and my golly gosh, I laughed so much watching it! They make it seem so easy to obtain yet the hard part is deciding whether to marry within the 90 days! If you want a little bit of an 'inside joke' chuckle watch it :')

I actually got a message from them back when in February or so when I didn't have a country linked to my account yet. I didn't respond but here it is  :

Hey there... I filed an expedite because the town Becca lives in was hit with a bad flood last year ...

I'm so sorry. I really do hope they expedite your case and I hope they fix the whole TSC issue. I feel so bad for everyone there!

  13. APPROVED!

My interview was at 11 am, I got there at 10 50 am and was out by 11 10 am! There were tons of people in the non-immigrant visa section but only a few in the immigrant one. My interview was so short! The man who was conducting the interview was soooo nice and he smiled a lot!

I felt so relieved and happy afterwards that I got all chocked up and ended up crying once I got outside haha! We have waited for so long, I can't believe the long distance part of our relationship is about to end!

Thank you everyone for the support! I am sooo thankful for this group and for this forum :)

  14. Wow CONGRATS everyone!!! I just arrived after 12 hours flight in Vegas and have been through customs..it has been a piece of cake..see my profil for review..SO tired but still have to get further to Portland for another three hours..but THEN..then I'm there with my love! So good!

    Yaaay, how exciting!

    APPROVED!!!

Finally! Congratulations, I'm sooo happy for you! :)

No interviews tomorrow, but good luck to cz&zm and tina:) on Thursday!!!

Thank you:) I will be leaving for Frankfurt later today and I'm getting so nervous!

  15. Approved!!!!!! Will share a full run down on my train home.

Approved!! Thank you for all your best wishes :D

Will update with a review soon!! Boy, did I have an eventful day... :P

I flew to Warsaw to be with my fiancé during her interview which I think made the whole process better for everyone.

It's was a really painless process and everyone at the embassy was so friendly. I think it took a total of 2.5 hrs most of which was just spent waiting our turn between steps. The interview was very quick, the gentleman asking questions was very personable, and we picked up her visa the next day. My only real complaint is it plus be so much easier if the pickup location was the embassy and not like 5km away in an industrial park at a shipping agency (TNT).

    Congratulations!!!! :)

  16. Hallo :)

    - Reisepass

    - Einladung

    - ausgedruckte DS-160 Confirmation

    - Kopie des Antrags (I-129F, alle Formulare, Fotos, etc.)

    - Kopien der NOA1 und NOA2

    - aktueller Letter of Intent

  17. We are approved! ? and it only took him a little over an hour from getting there to leaving there. I'm so happy!! Report to follow.

Yaaay! Congratulations, I'm so happy for you guys!

This week is fiiiiilled with interviews! Good luck everyone :) I'm getting more and more nervous as the days go by!

What are you guys planning on bringing as proof of relationship? I thought about bringing a ton of pictures (we've been dating for almost 7 years!) and our boarding passes from our trip in May :)

  18. great review.

I am still not sure where I will have to go for my medical check (Paris or Frankfurt)

I am a bit nervous. I live in Germany but I am still not very good and very shy at speaking German. Having an American husband doesn't help.

My question is: Do they have forms in English? Do they all speak English?

It wouldn't be the end of the world but I would feel more relax to know what to expect!

I think the forms are in English, but there's really not a lot you have to fill out :) I'm pretty sure they speak English! There's really no reason to be nervous :)

  19. My ceac just changed to issued so things seem to be progressing! I just cried out of happiness for the first time in this process, now I have to start learning to be ladylike again and not hog the bed! Aha!

    Yaaaaay! Congratulations :)

    APPROVED! I GOT APPROVED!

So happy for you! I'm glad it all worked out!

Hey! On the train back from London but... I got APPROVED! :D - More info later, when I get signal...

    Congratulations! That's awesome :)

Abby, please add us to the interview list. Johan got his letter today, and his interview is on MONDAY!! (the 9th) We went from :clock: to :dancing: in a very short time. :D I was guessing the 12th, and dreamt the night before last it was the 25th, but I'll take the 9th. :D

Yay, finally! So happy for the two of you!

  20. I'm so happy for everyone! It's awesome to see so much progress :)

I was able to schedule my own interview online just a few minutes ago after getting an email that I should 'please log back into my account to continue scheduling'. I have never heard of anyone from Germany being able to schedule their own K1-appointment rather than waiting to receive Packet 4. This must be something new :) I plan on calling them sometime this week though just to make sure that my interview is scheduled correctly.

You can add us to the interview list, Abby :) June 12!

  21. Yay, how exicting that some of you already have a dress! :)

We plan on doing a courthouse wedding this Fall to be able to finally be together and then have a big wedding a year later. That way we can plan and see everything together and we feel like it'll be a lot easier to find a date haha! I plan on wearing a shorter white dress (knee length) this year and a long white dress next year :) I keep saving all my wedding ideas on Pinterest, they have some really awesome ones on there!

I had my medical today and I kind of had to fight for a copy of the DS 3025, as they said I would receive that later anyway. I know that we all get the medical results in a sealed envelope but do we get to keep that envelope? I thought they are supposed to keep it at the POE?
