  1. Hi everybody, I just wanted to share my positive experience here with you, as I believe it has been a smooth and quick process.

I filed for AOS based on marriage on 2/19/2014.

    Forms sent: I-485; I-130; I-765; I-131.

Here are the pics of how I packed my forms : https://www.dropbox.com/s/gfixeabc0p7xkur/USCIS-folder-1.jpg

Sent the package at the Chicago Lockbox since I live in New York City.

All of the forms were accompanied by the G-1145 e-notification (e-mail notifications about the progress of the applications)

Also signed up for case update on : https://www.uscis.gov

    Here is the timeline:

2/28 - received the receipts for the checks that they cashed

3/05 - received a letter for the biometrics appointment on 3/28

3/28 - had my fingerprints taken

4/01 - received an e-mail saying : I-485 " Your Case Status: Testing and Interview - We mailed you an appointment notice for an interview on 5/07 "

    4/29 - received an e-mail saying: I-765 " Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production "

5/05 - received an e-mail saying: I-765 " Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production - Your card has been mailed " (with USPS tracking number)

5/06 - received the EAD card in my mailbox

5/07 - went to the interview, left the office and the officer said that we would have received a notice in 2 or 3 weeks, NO STAMPS on passport

5/07 - came back home after interview and received an e-mail at 3 pm saying : I-485 " Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production - on May 7 we ordered a production of you new card "

  2. This is how i prepared my package and everything had gone through without problems. You can find all you need at staples:

Small Binder Clips, regular paper clips, side tab folders and bottom adhesive tabs.

Hope this is helpful, i never found any picture of packages that people sent when i was preparing mine..

  3. Unfortunately there is no chance to assist/train on the job while on B1/B2, i'm adjusting status from B1 and i looked into every option, you cannot do anything other than business meetings.

There is no unpaid legal training or assistance possible, companies won't give you "work" and, if they do so it's illegal and you risk a lot of years ban if the government finds out.. The domestic work must be contracted in advance before entering the US. Good luck with the other visas!

  4. Hi everyone!

After putting all together i finally sent the application and hopefully i should receive some notice this week..

I have a concern about the interview:

    Is the interview ALWAYS requested?

Is it possible to go to the interview WITHOUT the US citizen if she/he is unable to attend for work related reasons?

(My wife works on a cruise ship and she will be on board until August..)

Also, is it possible to RE-SCHEDULE the interview for that reason?

    Thank you!!

  5. Here i am..

I told my CS i wanted to get the vaccines (no Hep is needed after 18 years of age) to avoid the blood test, she said it was ok.

Today i managed to get the two vaccines i needed at the NYC State Health Center in Brooklyn, the price to pay is based on the household income, it ranges from $0 to $ 17,85 for the whole performance (it doesn't matter how many shots you receive).

Tomorrow morning i have a blood test for Syphilis in a private clinic for $80, this was the fastest way to have the results (3 days).

As soon as i have the results for the Syphilis test i will take all to the CS and she will complete the form.

Thank you all for your precious contributes!

    Updates soon..

  6. I perfectly understand, what i didn't make clear is that the doctor did not give me the options, she wants to see the results as she says that this is the procedure dictated by the USCIS to follow.

I already paid 130$ for the visit and the TB test, i wouldn't like to go to a different CS and spend more money to get the same thing.

I don't think i have the right to tell a doctor how to do her job..have I?

Maybe other CS don't follow the procedures correctly, and it is common practice to simplify things by doing it wrong?

If i could complete the form myself ,as i'm doing with all the other forms i would do it, and i wouldn't ask for suggestions here.

I will call a different CS to see if i can do what you suggest.

  7. Thank you all guys for your answers!

I think i'm gonna do that then.. i just need to ask my doctor which vaccines i need.

I do have the report of my vaccinations but that doesn't include Hepatitis and Varicella

    The doctor's prescription is a test for : MMR , Hepatitis A and B , Syphilis.

if you came in on an immigrant visa, the medical exam and vaccinations was done in Italy.

Reading your timeline, I am confused.

If no medical exam for a visa done, then you need the big medical exam.

agree with Harpa's approach on testing vs shots.

I came here on B2, didn't plan to get married and stay so, yes, i need the "big" exam..

  8. Just get the shots again if you don't have records. The shots are cheap, some might be free at a county health clinic. A blood titre test to test for antibodies is pricey. There is no risk in getting extra shots.

THe above suggestion is also to go to a different Civil Surgeon, which you might have to do if the CS only wants a blood titre test.

You will have to get tested for syphilis separately, but that should be included in the cost of the CS visit.

I see, i'm sure i'll be able to find a different laboratory but i wanted to share this experience in the forum..

i have to try a few different places next week, i will update my post as soon as i have news.

    Thank you!

that is outrageous. the price for my blood test for i693 was $104. Can't you go to another lab?

That makes sense to me..I will check more options on monday.. that specific lab was the closest to the doctor, that's why i went there first.

  9. Hi everyone,

today i went to the doctor (civil surgeon listed in the USCIS website) , she performed a routine visit , TB test , and she prescribed me blood tests to be done in an external laboratory.

I went to the lab and i asked for the total cost of the tests and the price was 1250$!!!

I thought it was a joke, but it wasn't!

Of course i didn't accept and now i'm trying to understand where to go and what is the average price of the tests.

The tests are pretty standard: MMR , Hepatitis A and B and Syphilis.

The same test would cost 60€ in Italy!!

  10. Ues, you can file for AOS ... fill out all the forms as you outlined above... have your fiance However, the birth certificate thing might be a bit of an issue... My husbands we had to go to the commune and get a copy of the long form as they were not digitized at the time... But your family can get and scan a copy, then send that copy (have it notorized at the Prefitura ) to you via mail. Depending on what port she will be out of and the cruise line, if you need things signed, you can meet her at the port... I had to do that for all kinds of stuff when my hubby was a crewmember.

You can self translate the documents... You know you cannot travel until AP / EAD combo card is received right? Before she signs on, have her gather all her documents and signatures... Auguri!

My mother just got it from the pubblic office and it has been stamped by the prefettura! Do they need to send me the original copy to attach?

  11. Hi everyone!

I'm new to the forum but i've read quite a few posts already..

    This is my story:

I came to the U.S. to spend some time with my girlfriend (US citizen),we spent the holydays with her family and friends and it was great.

We had met on a criuse ship 6 months ago and since then our relationship has become really strong and we decided we want to get married and have a family here in the US!

I read a lot of posts about visa fraud and that scared me a little, i have nothing to hide about the decision we took beacause there was absolutely no planning.

We want to get married next week and start the I-485 (adjusment of status) asap beacause she is going back to work on a ship for 6 months starting on the 19th of january and i had a very good offer for a job here that is open until i get work permit.

I would like to know a little bit more from someone that went through this process, i want to apply concurrently for the following forms:

I-130 (petition for alien resident) I-485 (adjusment of status) I-765 (employment authoriztion) I-864 (affidavit of support) I-131 (travel document)

    Any advice is very welcome!

Thank you, hope to hear from you soon!
