I just did all of this yesterday. I have a 2013 Hyundai Accent. I called Hyundai Canada for this famous compliance letter. Save your dime because they will tell you straight up they don't do that anymore.
Go check the stickers on the door and under the hood.
You are looking for: U.S. EPA: #### ### and OBD: CA II and No Adjustment Needed. These 3 things are your key to freedom. I know its there because it is on mine. Find the Form 3520-1 online and open it with Adobe Reader. Fill out that form. Leave the Customer Entry # blank...your not a broker. Go online and find the Port Entry Code of the Port you will be entering from. For example....I am entering the US at Houlton, ME so my Port Entry Code is 0106. Next look up HS-7 Declaration (DOT), fill that out the same. Don't sign them until you are at the point of entry. Make a copy of your bill of sale or lease. (Get a letter from you financing or bank on letter head saying they are allowing you to transport the vehicle to the USA with money still owning and that you have made arrangements with them for payment). Make a copy of the registration of the car and also the permit for the license plate. Make a copy of your insurance card. If you have the phone number & fax of the port you will be entering you can fax the title of your car ahead of time for them to search the title to speed things up at the border. Send with a cover page of when you plan on entering the US and the details of your car that is still under a lease and also the letter from you finance with your agreement. Call them to make sure they received it. YOUR DONE. Now all you have to do is show up at the border with the car.

You also need your taxes for 2014. We had a lawyer for our process. YOUR LAWYER IS RIPPING YOU OFF. A delay doesn't cost them an extra cent. They only fill out the paperwork and send it in. If there is a problem, they respond. Other than that they wait for the approval the same way you do. Our lawyer charged us a $1000 for everything that was over 2 years waiting and we had to jump through numerous hoops, hundreds of phone calls, and resend documents 4 times in the process. These documents were all sent by courier and the lawyer paid for everyone of the shipments. She also emailed me weekly and 4 times the day before my interview and called to congratulate us after the approval. Some people are just born crooks and money grabbers. Your into it financially now so I guess you have no choice at this point. Sorry you got skinned for that kind of money. Good luck.

Montreal doesn't have a phone number to be reached anymore. They stopped their contact number over a year ago. They can only be reached by email and will take 3-5 days to get back to you.

Going to throw this out there. When you have your interview they give you a pamplet on spouse violence. You are to report it to authoriities immediately. She could have him arrested. When he appears for his court date and is/if found guilty he will not be able to apply for a change of status with a criminal record. He would then be deported back to his own country. Isn't this the real way it happens. They wouldn't make this pamplet sound so important if it didn't hold water. I would think anyway.

You need to tell her your done with this crazy behavior. Give her a choice.
(Choice #1)...She goes to a counciller to deal with her problem
(Choice #2)...Tell her to get a lawyer for a divorce.
That is abuse. When you went through the immigration process they would have given you a pamphlet on abusive immigration relationships. I would advise you read it. She didn't buy you and can not stop you from having a life not only with her but at work, watching tv, and going to the gym. She has created a Jailed Relationship with you. This is cruel and I feel for you. I hope things work out but if not, move on. Good luck.

Getting your NOA2 will take a while. I am Canadian. This will be our 2nd Anniversary in separte countries on Jan 11th. We filed our papers in April 29, 2013. Got our NOA on May 2, 2013. Got our NOA2 on March 25, 2014 (11 months later) and this whole process of 22 months later and I am still waiting for NVC to pass me over to the Montreal Consulate. AOS, Civil Docs, DS-260, all sent & Fees all paid since the 1st week of June 2014. They have lost our paperwork 4 times since with a receipt from the courier that they have infact got the paperwork. Each time we re-sent all the paperwork it added another 60 days each time for review. Still nothing. We have a senator involved now and amazingly they admit they have all the papers now. All 4 sets of them but now we still sit yet another 60 days for review. It is a long & frustrating journey. As all have told me, sit tight and be patient. It will happen.

Yes I did mean Quebec City. Montreal is so much nicer. Don't forget your smoked meat sandwich at the deli. They are to die for...yum.

Perhaps she meant Quebec City? But even there I've encountered very nice people with nearly perfect English. Yes, in some of the more rural areas they are less likely to want practice their English but Montreal is not one of them
    good luck

Bonnie&Bob got a reaction from kehills in How to Bend Time: The Paradox of Speaking LESS
It is not what you call normal to not communicate. This is the time you both should be learning about one another. The lack of daily info, personal history, and regular communication is going to hurt your interview with lack of evidence. One of the most popular questions at the consulate is how often do you communicate, how do you communicate, & how often do you see each other. The answer of "My fiance thought less communication would be better", is going to get you Denied at your interview. Without the need to speak often or see each other makes it look like your marrying him for a green card. Just saying.

Bonnie&Bob got a reaction from Rob L in Canadian w/ disability engaged to USC: options?
Who ever told you that your disability will cease from Canada when you move to the US doesn't know what they are talking about. Canada has an agreement with the US on these matters. Your Disability will NOT change. You are required to give them your new US address after you become a permanent resident and not before. I am on a disability pension, married to a US citizen, and contacted all the appropriate services to find out what to do including Revenue Canada. You are required to notify Revenue Canada as soon as possible to stop future payments of HST cheques as soon as you become a permanent resident of the USA. If not you will be required to repay all the moneys paid to you after your departure date & living in the US. Also, you disability income is used on your AOS form I-864 that will be joined with your spouse/fiances income. You are not entitled to receive disability from the US, only from Canada. Hope this helps but in future enquiries of anything government call them directly and ask so you get a straight answer. That's what they're there for.

I have no plans of becoming a citizen. Doesn't change a thing except not able to vote which doesn't bother me. Got ahusband that harps enough as a die hard republican that keeps me informed daily...lol. My sister also has never changed her citizenship but her husband became a citizen for government work purposes.

Wow, this comes as a shock. Just wondering -- do you plan to become a US citizen, and, if so, what happens then? I thought I'd be rejected immediately if the US government suspected I would become "a charge of the state".

An Immigration lawyer will cost between $800-$1200. Payment plans I'm not sure of but call around & find out. You will get a free consultation. Put your cards on the table at that meeting. Every case is different so listening to each one of us with a different solution is not helping to ease your mind. That free consultation will lead you down the right path and get you started with your goal. There is always a way so don't get discouraged. I wish you the best of luck.

I had read your post and my immigration lawyer called about 2 mins later. I told her your situation and she said there is away around anything. You registered to vote at 19 but never actually voted. You would have broken the law if you actually attempted to vote so your name would be in the system but that's all. The overstay can be waivered. She said to find an attorney and they can handle issues like these.
    Don't give up. Good luck.
