Totally agree. More is better. What could it hurt?

Whoa, we didn't send a cover letter either. Hmmm. We got approved, though! hehe
-
Lawyers are usually a waste of $$$. From what I understand, there is no timeline for filing AOS.
Good luck!
Oh, also: my husband did not have a SSN when we filed AOS either. We still filed.

Yes, birth certificate can be used to prove US citizenship. As can a passport.

IMHO, feeling bad for the problems children of incest have and being against it is a far cry from pro-Eugenics. Personally, I'd be pissed if my parents were married and I had deformities because of it or some other problem.

Ew, that is disturbing. I wanna see those dresses, though. I bet it's funny.
BTW, the "princess' mistique"!?!?!? Ohhhhhhhh. No. This is so wrong.
LOL

Agreed. We all go through it. Some names just come up and have to be checked. No fun.

I just want to say best of luck to you. Don't panic too awfully much. Sorry, I have no advice, just wanted to show my support.
-
I suggest doing whatever the letter tells you, file whatever form it says. It may also be useful to get some information by making an Infopass appt. You can do so at http://www.uscis.gov
I'm not sure other than that, but I'm bumping this up in case someone else can help you.
-
I guess I'd make an infopass. Sorry to hear about all these troubles. Good luck.

Well, you haven't commited any crimes, right? So your security check will be fine. The officer was probably just too rude to say it will be approved. But I'm sure it will be as long as you have no criminal history that will come up in the security check.
Hey, I am from Iowa, too! Where was your interview?? Ours was in Des Moines, but we had a basically positive experience.
Good luck with getting cleared QUICK!!!

Does the letter from USCIS give any instructions on re-filing?
-
Let's see...I think it took 5 months to get his EAD and then 4 months after that he was approved for AOS. So 9 months altogether maybe? I dunno. Check out my timeline in my signature. LOL!

If it were okay to do a family member, the offspring would come out "normal." Children of incest often have tons of issues medical and otherwise from this. SO.....poetry can say what it wants, I go with science!

I am the USC in this relationship, and to be honest, I would much rather be in Canada. My husband moved here because I was still in school. Now he's in school here, so we're basically staying until he graduates. I wonder if I can handle going through the immigration process alllll over again, this time for my Canadian visa. My end goal is to have Canadian citizenship.
It isn't that I hate America or anything. I just identify with the Canadian culture and prefer it and it would please me to live there and raise our children there, when we have them. It's like those people who were born in a male body but always felt female. LOL! I was born American, but have always felt Canadian.
Is that wrong? It sounds funny. But it's true. I don't know how this happened to me! hehe

Wonderful! Congrats on the approval, even if you do have to wait for the name-check.
-
Yay! So happy for you!

Here is a link I found for info on British passports from within the US:

No reason to be depressed. Just fill out the forms and send them in. It can be a confusing process, but AP and AOS are available to you just like most anyone else. Just get married when your fiancee gets here, and file for AOS and AP afterwards. It'll be okay.
-
Oops, I quoted the wrong person. Sorry!
-
AOS - Adjustment Of Status - application for a greencard - can't leave the U.S. unless you have ....
AP - Advanced Parole - allows you to travel outside of the US before you get your greencard.
If you fiancee arrives in July and you get married in a civil ceremony but you already know you need to travel out of the country in November then I would definately reccommend applying for Advanced Parole.
I understand. But it will be memorable. You will both be there and in love and you'll be married. Take lots of pictures and have a beautiful day! Like they say on Project Runway: Make it work! I know it can be sad to think your family won't be at your wedding. Neither of our families were there when we got married. But I find it is the time we have been able to spend together that has been great...with my family and his family. But it is possible that you can get it all in order.
As long as you have your AP you can travel outside the US while the AOS is pending. People get them all the time. You file for the AP at the same time as your AOS. I don't know how long it takes to get AP (also sometimes referred to as a travel document), but others here do, I am sure.
Best of luck to you. Don't get too stressed, just read anything you can on the paperwork and requirements, etc. You'll be fine.

I think what she meant by "hard to get" was "hard to understand." At least, that is what I took it to mean.
Otherwise, no...AP is not hard to obtain. You just need to file the correct papers. I hope you will read the pinned threads at the beginning of this forum.

Definitely possible. In our case, the EAD came after 5 months of filing the whole EAD/AOS package, and then the AOS interview was like, 4 months after that.
AOS approved in only 6 weeks.
