Note the "evidence" is not sent as proof of marriage.  The Marriage Certificate does that.  The evidence is to show a bona fide or genuine relationship.  Transferring money is not commingling of finances.  Newlyweds not yet living in the same country don't usually commingle finances.

If the father in law qualifies on his own, don't do the I-864a as a household member.  Have him do the I-864 as "joint sponsor".  Then, they do not need evidence of relationship.  They need evidence of the FIL's US Citizenship or Green Card.  If FIL is married, have his wife do an I-864a whether she has any income or not.

pushbrk got a reaction from NikLR in 2018 tax returns sufficient or need w2?
Note that the IRS provides a number of official transcripts.  A "Tax Return Transcript" is the only thing that applies in immigration cases.  Generally, those are sufficient but sometimes W2 forms are asked for.  If you EVER had a W2, it can be replaced. If not applicable, then it doesn't exist and cannot be provided.

You'll save a few days.  Mailing time, plust the time it takes the lockbox/intake facility to convert your paper filing to electronic.  THEN, your wait will be the same as somebody whose paper file was converted that same day.

No W2 is needed with a tax return transcript, also no 1099.  Evidence of citizenship is for joint sponsors.  Your status is already established.  Study those I-864EZ instructions IN CONTEXT.

If you are the petitioner, NO.  Your status is indicated on the approval notice from USCIS and you already submitted evidence of your citizenship.
Incorrect for the petitioner.  Only a joint sponsor or household member would do this.

Your stamped visa was good for 1 year, until your green card arrived.
You have received a 2-yr conditional green card, and the stamp on your passport is no longer relevant.

The I-551 stamp issued by CBP in your passport is valid until 12/09/2020     <<< this is sort of moot now that you have your physical green card.

Green card issued by USCIS is valid as stated, and is what matters now.

I did it and know others who have done it. So, rest assured, you "can" file as single and then later amend the return. You "CAN" even if you can't find a regulation that specifically says it's OK. One person I KNOW who is doing exactly that right now is an International Specialist in the Appeals department of the IRS. Take it to the bank. It's OK.

No, you cannot.  You need to complete the immigrant visa process before you can do more than visit the USA.

Yes, but you have a lawyer.  Ask the lawyer such questions.  He sent a questionnaire.   Sounds like you circumstances don't fit his form.  Make some common sense decisions about that.

A self employed person's current income AND what they would put in the prior tax year's boxes comes from line 6 for the 2018 tax return (That is also the current income number.) and line 22 from the other two prior years boxes.

You say he makes 70k per year.  Is that coming from line 6 of the 2018 tax return?

Note that business revenue and business income are not the same thing.  "Income" in this context is what appears on line 6 AFTER taking allowed expense deductions.

Your lawyer needs an arithmetic tutor.  10 year ban starting in 2016 the day she left.

Lawyers disagree all the time.  I've been to the home of the Chief Counsel for the Guangzhou Consulate back in 2011, I think.  The State Department doesn't hire stupid lawyers.  You can be certain the case was reviewed by Consulate lawyers before the decision was made.  Maybe you'll pay your lawyer lots of money to fight this in court.  Maybe a judge will agree with your lawyer.  Time will tell.

My husband also had a theft charge from when he was 14 (in Lithuania). We had to get the court record for it and disclose it on the DS-260. Better to be forthcoming, whether it shows on the police cert or not!

The information for all 3 years is required, unless he was not required to file for those years (i.e. no income). Only the most recent year's copy is necessary, but all 3 years must be listedto be eligible as a sponsor.

    (From my blog)
A Warning To Green Card Holders About Voting
Do not register to vote in any election until you have officially been granted US Citizenship.
Going into this election season, it is very important to understand that for a Green Card holder, (Lawful Permanent Resident) to register to vote is not only improper, but can have severe consequences in the future.
Even though there are States that have instituted policies that do not require evidence of US Citizenship when registering to vote, the voter registration documents do ask whether the person registering is a US Citizen. Many have simply checked the box and gone ahead and registered, knowing that even if the State Law requires showing government issued identification, their driver license will suffice.
While this is not legal advice, the publicly searchable “9 FAM” (Foreign Affairs Manual) is quite clear regarding the potential consequences of falsely claiming US Citizenship. There is no more serious a misrepresentation, based on the consequences, dealt with in 9 FAM. The potential consequence of registering to vote or for any other federal or state benefit afforded only to US Citizens includes Deportation and a LIFETIME BAN from entering the USA.
If any reader who is not a US Citizen, has registered to vote in any official State of Federal election, I advise them to seek competent legal advice as soon as possible, to discuss minimizing or eliminating the risk of any future deportation and ban.
The law is, what the law is. Regardless of whether this particular or any other immigrant related law is being consistently enforced today, that can change at any time.
False claims to US Citizenship are taken very seriously by Customs and Border Patrol Officers. Some years ago, I was traveling with my step daughter, when we encountered a border check station on Interstate 10 in West Texas. My step daughter was quite proud of passing her citizenship test just the day before, and proudly answered yes, when a CBP Officer asked if she was a US Citizen. I quickly corrected her, so the officer would hear me, saying, “You WILL BE a US Citizen after your swearing in ceremony, but you’re aren’t a citizen yet.” Fortunately, the officer was understanding and we were soon on our way without incident.
Many have registered to vote, somewhat “innocently” because of the misrepresentations or ignorance of well meaning officers at the DMV (Driver License Offices) or even a campaign worker.

They may already have reviewed the documents.  Then, the administrative processing is the extensive additional security checks for applicants from Pakistan.  That would be for ALL males and many females.  If you have a very common name, it will take longer, even up to a year, or more.
