Yes. You are exempt from income tax filing if you have no taxable income. Submit your evidence of income with a letter explaining your exemption. As long as the income is verified with documentation, you are good to go.

Whether your assets will help depends on whether they are "liquid".  Time to become an A-Student of the I-864 instructions.  You haven't provided enough facts about your assets to know whether they will carry the day, or you'll need a joint sponsor, but your wife's lack of previous US domicile does not prevent a US Citizen or LPR living in the USA from acting as joint sponsor.  Once your wife shows evidence of her intent to establish domicile in the USA, the joint sponsor can be used.

First step is to file the last three years of US Federal Tax Returns.  It's unlikely any taxes will be owed.
 
If your assets are liquid and amount to well over 3 times the income requirement for a household of four, you would not need a joint sponsor.

If you are self-employed, they will want to see your full 2021 US tax return, 1040 and Schedule C.  Gross revenue does not equal income for self-employed sponsors.  Also take any supporting documentation such as bank accounts showing deposits from customers, and your company's most recent income statement and balance sheet from your accountant.

That particular DQ message is a Notification that NVC is finished with the financial package.  It means ONLY that the number on the total income line of the tax return or tax return transcript is lower than the minimum requirement.  In this case that number is zero.  You won't hear anything else from NVC about the affidavit of support once they send this message.  They are deferring to the Consular Officer with regard to public charge, PERIOD.

"To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 from a joint sponsor may be submitted" is a very common message.  SO it means, "The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview."  Yes, really.  Yes, I'm sure.

You can add non-taxable income to current annual income, but you have to list the amount your 1040 shows for each tax year.

Might be too late. But yes, VA disability compensation can be used in I-864. Just add a cover letter explaining it is non-taxable, so there are no IRS papers that go with it. If I recall, there are fields there for taxable income. In which case, you don't include the compensation amount in it. Just what's taxable. My husband put nothing except his disability pay in our I-864 when we filed for CR-1. Good luck!

The I-485 instructions explicitly state that photocopies of certified copies are acceptable. Just make sure you take an original certified copy to your interview (if you have one).

Ok. Here my story..... I had my interview at sep 18 and the officer give me administrative process bcs.... At the moment i enter to USA POE Miami, the officer change my category from CR1 to IR1 to 10 years.... The officer at that the interview point that i got the IR1 in Error and that i never filed for a i751, so she cant give me approval at my N400.... i applied next day after interview for a I751, and was informed the time for that form was 1 to 1 and 1/2 years.... i was so sad and crazy.... but by my surprise, the same officer that send me to administrative process, expedite my case I751 and i just had another interview today for the i751 form, and other surprise was the same officer.... She approve me both today N400 and I751. now i ll have just to wait for a date for the ceremony....

Ok my dear friends!, i m here now with my experience at interview!
my interview was for 8 am, but i was there at 6 am, i was in the line 3 for resident people.... they asked me for... 1. two pics with the name in the back, passport and letter of interview, they didnt ask me for the PCC... i go to another window, and they took those things i had tell u, and..... 1. IV packet (just some papers, as the death cert of previous wife of my hubby)... the woman give me back some docs originals from the pkt i sent to NVC, and told me wait in the chair till the Consul call me... i wait about 30 minutes, so he called me, surprise me bcs was a colombian guy, so nice person, and he asked me the questions.... where u meet, when, asked me for privious marriage of both, where he is now, how many time we were living together in colombia, why my tourist visa was reject befor... i told the consul that i wanted travel to visit the family of my hubby nad friends, but the CO told me at that time that i was not available for that kind of visa at that moment, so after that my hubby was sad bcs i cant travel with him and we start thinking to move to USA.... he asked me if we have kids, i said no, but i ll move to USA with our doggy Callie Mae, that she is our kid!, he smiled! and after that he start talking me of the domestic violence when he mention it i knew my visa was approved!, affer that he said.... ohhh i forgot!,.... WELCOME TO USA AND UR VISA WAS APPROVED! hehehe i was so happy and i bless him!... he said thx, and talked me about the passport and the fee for visa!... hope this info can be good for all of u!
