Hey, they asked me if I'd had chickenpox as it wasn't on my records, I said yes, and they took that and didn't question it anymore. Flu shots are season so it depends when your medical is and when the flu season starts, if you hit that then you'll have to get it done either at your doctors or at the medical.
They will take your word for it. Verbal response is good enough. Also, not sure on the flu shot, read somewhere that everyone was to have one from Oct or November.. If you're not sure.. call Knightsbridge. They are brilliant answering questions and telling you what you need! Good luck!
Thanks for your help guys! I hope my interview goes as smoothly as yours... Good luck with PoE!

Hey guys, couldn't work out how to post on the UK portal, but wanted to ask do the Knightsbridge doctors still take your word for it that you have had chickenpox? I asked my doctor but my records don't go back that far. Should I get an immunity test done privately before my medical, or is this a bit of overkill?
Also, is the medical information on vaccines still out of date? As it says I don't need a flu shot if I am under 49 years, is this still correct in oct-march?

Congrats
Thanks, just confirmed it a CC! Looks like from your last scan date your turn should come this week too!

With the way NVC is stuck with July 3rd-July 11th packages, am wondering if there are people with July 14th-July 18th scan dates.
I am July 15th scan date... No news to report yet, 51 days... I hope it doesn't reach 60 days!

Hi guys,
Congrats I getting to this stage! I am currently stuck in the second backlog at NVC, but I am trying to get things in order for my medical as I am going away soon.
I went to my doctor surgery in the UK today to get a copy of my vaccination record for the medical. The nurse told me that she could scribble down the vaccinations that I have had on a form, but normally they require an official form to be filled out. I cannot find this online anywhere. For those of you in the UK, what did you ask for to get the vaccination record that we are required to being to the medical? Is a note from the surgery accepted? Or do I have to request something more official?
Thanks for your help, and good luck to those with upcoming interviews!

Just called NVC to see what they had to say this week. I spoke to Dale, he confirmed my scan date to be 7/15 for AOS and IV (I have a lawyer) and he said that due to the volume of cases which they are trying to cut down, it is likely that it will go past the 30 biz day mark and will unlikely be done before the end of August. He also said my 60 days is September 15th. I hope it's not as long as that as I was praying and knocking on wood to get CC and make October interview scheduling, but now November looks more likely.
Also I read but don't post too often... Where is Solenta?!

The NVC is nothing but a bunch of liars and soul crushers. If you want someone to ruin your life, just go through the US immigration system!
Tell me about it! I am a smart lady and have been very successful until US immigration. I have lost my job before I started it :-(
I applied in september PD 09/20/13 and was supposed to start working 07/14/14. I naively thought this would be enough time... evidently not :-(

No fear of flying for either of us, but I do have a fear of being detained at the POE which is why I haven't visited since the wedding
It's an unlikely scenario, I know, but still.
Charlie only gets 5 days off a year and he's used them all! Tbh, I'm not so bothered about the time apart as I am the fact that I can't pinpoint an estimate as to when this will all be over. Whenever I think things are moving along, they screech to a grinding halt again! I'm sure as soon as we DO get the IV invoice, we will be waiting a hella long time for our case to be completed.
I'd still be honoured to be the record-holder, but in all seriousness, if we can't get anyone to unlock it by the end of next week we'll be contacting Charlie's congresswoman to light a fire under their butts.
I am currently in the USA now, I have my application since 09/20/13 and have visited him twice, for 1 month at christmas and 2 months now. I have had a return trip each time. It is up to the customs officer whether to let you in or not, but you can travel on a tourist wavier as long as you don't look like you are going to settle. I have had questions like "Are you going to live here?" to which I honestly replied eventually, and *touch wood* to this point I have never had an issue :-)

Hi MacauPDX,
It's crazy! After receiving an offer to study at Cambridge (one I never thought i'd get/couldn't refuse), we jetted off to the UK without thinking about a reentry permit. I thought having a Federal student loan and filing taxes was enough. Now I need to get back to the US to conduct my research. It's frustrating!
I hope everything goes well for you!
Hey... Snap!!! I just finished studying at Cambridge and am waiting to join my hubby in the states... small world! Wish we had done this process years ago so we wouldnt have to be separated, but I too under estimated the bureaucracy!

USPS said it was delivered on Monday, I will have to wait that long before I know they actually received it?
Mine was delivered by Fedex on Monday too... I called yesterday and the lady said it should be entered into the system by next week... I will call again tomorrow... I don't want to clog the lines for those finding out about checklists/CCs! Let me know if you hear anything on yours!
-
Oh yes, the wait time is still the same. Operators are even becoming more short and rude. Not missing much there.
As far as I can *remember* from the DS260, try filling it out to the most accurate estimate time spent in the US. If you're going to be there for two months, put in two months. If it's three months it's three months. They'll be able to tell anyways by your passport stamps, and what's on file. Don't worry about it too much. (They're just checking to make sure you don't overstay your time there
Thank you for your advice... I will just put 2 months as I will leave before it gets closer to 3. I hope you get through this process soon!
-
Hey guys, I have a question about the ds-260 and I have searched on the web and read through the wiki and i cant find the answer anywhere... so I was wondering if you guys know what do do. (I hope I don't irritate anyone ;-) )
On the last 5 visits to the USA the duration of the trip has an option to fill it in in day(s), week(s), month(s) or year(s). If a trip was over a month (for example) should I put in the whole number of months? Or should I fill it in as accurately as possible, e.g. # of day(s)? If I put months, should I put a decimal number of months if a trip was between 1-2 months (for example)? Or is this too complex for the NVC? For anyone who filled this out, what did you write?
(I am asking because I am currently in the USA visiting my hubby and am not exactly sure of the date at which I will leave, but know I will leave before the 3 month limit on the visa waver program so is it ok to round it and put 2 months?)
Also congrats on CCs! I am so jealous, but can't complain as I am currently with my hubby, albeit temporarily!

I obviously had a reading comprehension fail. Of course you're talking about the IV package. Do you mean you're the beneficiary/applicant?
You'll need to send the documentation showing your name change to the name that appears in your passport. I understand your hesitation to send original documents, but I think that's what's required here. (For comparison, they require originals of divorce decrees, etc.) Can you obtain an official copy from the office that issued the name change deed? Any original documents that you submit to the NVC will be returned to you after your interview as long as you give them a photocopy for their records.
Thank you very much, it seems we had brain fails together! This process will do it to you... my husband got a visa for to the UK within 3 months... I didnt realise it was a slow torture to do the opposite... I will send the original deed and hope they do not lose it! Good luck everyone!
-
For IR-1/CR-1 visa types, the petitioner's birth certificate is NOT required in the IV package. That package is all about the beneficiary; only their birth certificate is needed.
Since you're the petitioner, don't even worry about the name change. You can bring the deed to the interview, but I highly doubt they'll ask for it.
Sorry I had a brain fail, I mean I am the one who need the visa - the Benificiary (These terms are so confusing)

I hear you about avoiding checklists. The instructions for the I-864 say that if proof of citizenship (e.g. passport or birth certificate) was already provided by the petitioner in the I-130, there is no need to resubmit it with the I-864. Proof of citizenship is only required for joint sponsors. However, since it's just a few more photocopies, and you would like to document your name change, I don't think it would hurt to send it. Don't send the original! They are not required for the I-864.
Thanks for your response. I am sorry, I get really nervous posting online... but I forgot to mention I am the petitioner, so I am required to send my birth certificate (with my old mother's maiden name) in the IV package. Any ideas how the young name change (different to my passport) will affect things there? I am just torn between checklist and sending the original deed!

Hey Guys,
I am a quiet follower, (my first post) but read everyday and congrats to all those with CC's recently.
I have seen lots of people getting checklists at the NVC and I really want to avoid it at all costs. I am about to send off the AOS and IV packets and have read everything in Saylin's amazing wiki (thank you) and the NVC site, but I was wondering if any of you know the answer. I was born under my mother's maiden name (officially) and she changed it to my father's last name when I was ~6. I have my original birth certificate and a photocopy to send off in the IV packet. I sent off a photocopy of the name change deed in my I-130 application to the USCIS. My question is, given my birth certificate and passport are in different names, do they require the original name change deed at the NVC too?
It was issued years ago and it is the only original all of us (my mother, sister and I) have so I am apprehensive sending it, (will definitely bring it to interview) but I also want to avoid a checklist. Does anyone know if I would get a checklist for the original name change deed?
Thanks for your help everyone!
