This isn't really off topic but I wasn't sure where to put it.
I just moved house - do I need to let the USCIS know? I have my green card and I don't have anything pending.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Kate

Hello,
I am a British citizen with green card. I am applying to get my passport renewed... struggling with printing the declaration form - it says print on US Letter or A4 but both come out with the top part cut off. Anyone had similar struggles? What did you do?
Any help will be great!
Thanks!
Kate
p.s I am in the USA right now hence difficulty. Managed to get right passport pic sizes but this is throwing me off!!
Thanks!

He doesn;t even need a tourist visa, US citizens can travel on vacation to the UK for up to 90 days without a visa, same as the other way around.
Brill! Thanks!

Hello,
I have just completed my adjustment of status and i have my green card. My husband and I wanted to go back to the UK for two weeks to see my family. Does he need anything but a tourist visa? We will have a print out of his plane tickets too to prove he is leaving again..
Thanks!

Correct and your state ID is irrelevant, the only thing that would be good for is everyday ID for bars & buying alcohol here to avoid having to carry your passport and people not knowing what a green card is.
Fab thanks!
Hope you are having a good day!

You could but there really is no need, just make sure you always book tickets in the name that is in your passport and take a copy of your marriage certificate just in case CBP need to see it when you are getting back in the US. Having said that if the process is straightforward to get a new UK passport I'd probably do so just to avoid the hassle.
Brill, thanks Jason. I think I will just keep this passport I have now as it doesn't expire until 2015 and when I am home for longer than 2 weeks I'll get the new one.
Just to confirm, I book my flights with the name in my passport (currently maiden) and make sure I have my green card and my marriage certificate for the immigration officer when I am coming back into the States?
Should I get my Nevada State ID before I go? Or does this have no relevance?
Thanks!

Hello,
I just got my conditional green card and I am going back to the UK for a couple of weeks to see my family. My green card is in my married name but my UK passport is still in my maiden name. The officer at our interview said it should be no problem so long as i have my green card and marriage license with me. I am heading to the DMV tomorrow to get a state issued ID too. Does anyone have any experience with this? Should I get a new passport whilst in the UK with my married name?
Many thanks,
Kate

Already got interview date through! Speedy!!!
-
Not at all. It can take up to a month for a NOA1.
Okay thanks. Forgive my worried soul :-)

So we sent it a week ago, I checked the package tracking and it arrived on Monday - still no text or email to say they got it - should we be concerned?
Thanks!

Wonderful - it is being posted today!!!! Sigh of giant relief :-)
Thanks everyone!!!!!

And for PART 3 on the I-485 where it asks if I was inspected by an immigration officer - I put yes right? I went through immigration as usual at the airport in Chicago.
-
Last last question: For Part 7 on the I-131 do I need to put an extra piece of paper explaining my Advance Parole?
I already put for work and family related reasons, specifically a 93 year old, sick Grandma....
Thanks!
-
Ah that is wonderful. We are in Reno, NV so I think it will go through either Arizona or California eventually. Hopefully it is just a quick....
Last question:
I had my medical done last week so they used my maiden name - do i need to have them refill out the paper work with my marriage name? I go to get it tomorrow once I have had my TB test checked and then my final injections.... ugh hate needles.
-
If you don't get it out tomorrow, don't worry. Any overstay is forgiven on marriage to a USC.
Okay thanks for the advice. We are planning to get it out as soon as possible, so definitely before the weekend. Hoping to get all of it processed as quickly as possible. I see yours took 3 months ish to get through?
Thanks!

Hello all,
We got married on Saturday (yey!) and I am just getting the rest of my injections done etc etc. My question is, my tourist visa runs out tomorrow, we nearly have everything together for the i-130 but my last injections are tomorrow afternoon. Do I need to get this application for i-130 and i485 out with the date stamp tomorrow? We are collecting out marriage licenses today, we have passport pictures and pictures and bank accounts etc all good to go. I don't want to annoy them, but it may be a stressful 24 hours if it needs to be out tomorrow...
Thanks as always for your help,
Kate

Sorry. I already answered your questions in blue above. I meant I couldn't separate the quoted text into individual blocks.
Absolute star!!! Sorry, i totally got lost then and clearly cannot read properly either. Thank you so much!
-
You asked too many questions and I am not allowed to separate them out into that many quoted blocks.
Okay, I'll ask you this first:
I-485:
Part One:
- I put my USA address here yes?
- Current USCIS status - I am here on an ESTA tourist VISA ? What do I put here? I travelled here in August and my boyfriend proposed when I got here - so I didn't travel here with intent.
Part Two:
- h? Is it enough to say I travelled here as a tourist without intent to marry? Or do I need to go into more detail here? How do I do that if yes?
Part Three:
- Name on i94 - Do I leave this empty?
- Should I put information of my expired USA VISA here or is this just for current VISAs (I was a student on an F1 but my OPT status expired in Dec 2012)
Thanks so much!

Hello everyone,
We are just going through the task of filling out all our documents for our I-130, I-485 etc and I had some specific questions partly because I am a completely, paranoid person. Any help with this would be amazing!
I-130:
Do I use my maiden name of my married name - I haven't changed my name on passports, IDs etc yet... I am the alien spouse.
I-485:
I-765:
Do I use my maiden name of my married name?
I-131:
Part 1:
- 2a) In care of name? What does that mean?
- 3) Alien registration number - I don't have one yet? Do I just leave this blank?
- 6) What is my Class of Admission?
Part 2:
- Is 1 a correct even though I am change of status stage?
Part 5:
Do I compete this section?
I-864
Part 6:
13 c - My husband's income was below the poverty line 3 years ago - the last two tax returns are way above the line - will this be a problem?
Sorry for the exhausting list! Any help will be great!
Thanks everyone!

By "Going with the I-130" do you mean pursue a spousal visa from abroad? If so, then the guide just linked is not the right one (that was the Adjustment of Status guide).
No, adjustment of status. I traveled to the USA on a Visa Waiver Tourist Visa (ESTA) and my boyfriend proposed to me when I arrived. We have decided to get married on this trip (because I travelled without intent) and avoid the longer CR1 or K1 processes. I believe we submit a I-130 Visa with forms I-485 and I-765.

The VJ Adjustment of Status / I-130 guide is here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2
I can't tell you exactly what works and what doesn't, as we have still to get round to me getting my necessary vaccinations. (this isn't a problem for me, as I am in the US on a temporary work visa)
Looking through that list, the documents you'll want sent from the UK are:
- long-form birth certificate
- your divorce documents or prior spouse's death certificate (if applicable)
- evidence for bona fide marriage
This is all that's required. However, you will also want to get a copy of your health record or vaccination record, if you can. This will come from your UK GP, or possibly local health authority, and you may need to pay a small fee for it. If you can't get it, then for all the required vaccinations, you'll either have to be tested to prove immunity, or you'll have to take them again. I have my vaccination records, but I can't find proof that I've had rubella, and I need a tetanus booster.
Of course, if you're staying in the US, you'll want to have all of your official documents sent here anyway, even if not required by USCIS.
Okay perfect. My over organised self is patting myself on the back because i bought everything with me anyway. I have a travel folder that literally has everything in it. So that is one less thing to worry about!
Thanks Owen! Good luck with your VISA!

In terms of adjusting status you'd probably be ok, especially if you have not been pulled into secondary at the airport/ if they didn't write anything weird in your passport when you last entered.
If you go for the visa, option, you can still visit during the processing, you don;t need to be apart for all of it.
Option 3: what do you mean about not being able to go home for 90 days? You can get married in Vegas tomorrow and go home that evening if you want, then chase after the visa.
Hello,
We have decided to go with the I-130 option. Just to check, it is completely fine for us to get married if I came here without intent? So if we get married tomorrow and apply for the I-130 i will be able to travel and work within 4 months ish maybe sooner?
Also because I was a student in the USA with a VISA/Social security, will that be viewed negatively?
Thanks for your help !

Let's see...
- Travelling while the CR1 is processing is not that risky. But both this option and the K1 option will take a long time for you to be together permanently.
- I don't know the details of UK visas, but I'd be surprised if he can stay with you long enough for the CR1 to come through.
- Option 3 works fine. I actually did pretty much this for the marriage (though my visa situation is different), and had the Surrey registrar do a civil "renewal of vows" ceremony once we came back to the UK this summer. That costs a bit, but you could just do the ceremony, or you could have a religious blessing if that's what you'd prefer. Personally, this is what I'd recommend, providing you are able to get the necessary documents for adjustment of status sent over.
- If you're in the USA now and want to be together, option 4 seems like a bad one. You won't be able to work for several months after you arrive.
Hi Owen,
We have decided to go with the I-130 :-) It seems like the most logical VISA. Just curious about the documentation you mentioned that I will need for my change of status - birth certificate i believe is on there. Do you know what else?
Thanks for your help!

Back again. What is the K3 Visa? Can i live in the US after our UK wedding on the K3 until my CR1 comes through?

Is it this link here: https://egov.uscis.gov/coa/addressChange.do
This feels like where you would go if you had an application pending... But I don't, just want to notify them of the change of address.
Thanks!
