When they were both legally residing in Mexico, if she'd been there for more than six months, she would have been eligible to apply for a CR-1 through the field office in Mexico rather than back in the US. That's a lot faster.

The only advantage of a K-1 here is it being a few months faster to be in the US. Every other component is more favorable with a CR-1 (cheaper, faster to a green card, faster to citizenship, cheaper, can travel abroad & work right away, etc.).

    K1 if a fiance, CR1 if married

K1 gets him to the US a bit faster, but overall more expensive and longer to get the actual green card
CR1 gets him into the US in about 12-14 months and he gets the actual green card soon after US entry. Less expensive too.

Overall, most folks here considered CR1 to be "better" by comparison.

She needs to get her own free account here.

This is discussed all the time in this forum.   It all depends on timing and money.  It is too bad she didn't do this from Mexico to start with.

There have been quite a few posts recently regarding traveling on an expired GC with the one year extension letter.

Page 38 of this document provides some reassurance:

    https://www.cbp.gov/sites/default/files/documents/Carrier Information Guide- English.pdf

It also makes clear that the 12 month extension is from the card expiry date, not the receipt date of the I-797.

For the questions 15.a-h, they can be a bit tricky; however, because she isn't in the US currently I would leave it blank. 15.e-h would be the information she used for her last entry if she was currently in the US.

Part 2, #28.a-d - Since you and your fiance will be living in the US, where are you going to live? If you're unsure you can use your parents address and it should be okay. Most couples use their parents address, or the address their living in currently in the US but most of the time end up moving afterwards into their own place. I'm an example as my fiance and I will be living with my sister until we can save up enough to buy a house.

    [Moderator hat off]
It's not the President's actions or policies that you need to worry about, but that of Customs & Border Protection (CBP), particularly at the port of entry (POE) where he would plan to re-enter the U.S.  (Are you flying, or driving?)

I recommend telephoning the precise POE where he would re-enter.  Have your husband on the extension line.  Ask for the CBP shift supervisor; explain your situation and your concerns, and ask what to expect.  If you're assured that there is no problem (and I presume that this will be the case and the response), get that supervisor's name, and document the date & time of your call.  Have your husband carry this information with him.

If there's a problem at POE, your husband can tell the agent that supervisor's name; he can ask for that supervisor; or (if it's a larger POE, such as at an airport) he can ask for the CBP Passenger Services Representative or shift supervisor.

If your husband "looks nervous" at POE, it's almost guaranteed that he'll be pulled into secondary inspection.

Here's an easy way to find the phone number for your particular POE:
    https://www.cbp.gov/contact/ports
If they're open overnight or late into the evening, the supervisor might have more time to talk with you when you call.

I am a GC holder and my husband is a USC and I have traveled to Mexico twice in the past three months. Once with him and the second trip on my own. To be honest I did not encounter any problems  with immigration in either trips. This was even back when the Muslim travel ban started and there were protesters at the airport. Your husband should be fine. I was only asked the usual customs questions, if I was bringing any food, etc.

You go to the ss office and apply for a number. You can check their requirements on their website, you can also check here on vj on the ssn forum.
for your state ID, every state is different so contact your closest DMV and they should be able to help you, but with the ead you should be good to go

You don't seem to understand what many of the previous posters have already said multiple times.

You are not applying for a CR-1/IR-1 visa.

You will be applying for "Adjustment Of Status", in short AOS by filing forms I-130 and I-485 + all supporting documents and forms.

Yes, your wife will be allowed to stay in the USA during this process. But until she gets her work authorization (EAD) she is illegally working.

You working overseas for extended periods of time might be an issue. The burden will be on you to prove that you're usually living in the US since you can't apply for your wife's AOS without actually living in America.

    Good luck.

You two aren't aligned. At this point in your life you want someone to be on the same page as you. Not one person being an open book while the other is a closed one.
I don't know about you but any threat to my family, life, or health is a deal breaker. I would be sceptical as well.
If she is refusing to understand how important discussions about health is and is shutting it down. Then some serious decisions need to be made by you.
    This is just my opinion.

Someone we know who moved back rented first and then purchased once they knew what area they wanted. Schools were the draw for them but Zillow or other sites showed a crime rate F which is scary if you read the profile of the area and house. When you live nearby, you find it is crime which is reported which when you live in a city you think it is "normal."
They also cleared their mortgage first as well then purchased, were able to buy well, haggle on the price and still get the good schools. A big motivation for the seller was that they had no property to sell even though they purchased a 3 bedroom house etc.
Good luck, renting also means you can up and move with no hassles if crime F is really true

$1070 and you don't need a lawyer. Just follow the guides here.
Also, you will also want to file EAD and AP at the same time.
