I hope everything works out for you both no matter what has happened! Remember, there are three sides to every story, his side, her side , then the truth. Thinking of you both!!
Laura Mitchell
You got that right. I came clean the night all of this hit the fan, and the day after. However, she has yet to come completely clean with her recent "involvement" with an American she met in Texas the week after we broke it off, and doesn't show any signs of coming clean. I've got a few emails that directly contradict what she's supposedly telling me, so I just can't do this any further. It's over, and done with, I guess. And I'd reckon she's blown any chances of me keeping in contact. I mean, if you can't even tell your friend the truth, what's the point anymore?

Ok, so I've been sitting back and watching the ####### fly. I do believe that you're only hearing one side of the story. I'd like to voice mine, but I don't feel that a public forum is the proper place to do it, like Dean said. All I can say is that there is some misinformation being given here, and only one side of the story is being told. However, I do not wish to give CrazyInLove more ammunition to work with at this point, so I'll keep quiet. If you'd like to discuss my side, feel free to PM me, or reach me on AIM under EKUTexan. I should be around all evening.

Well, it's 3:45 in the morning, and I'm wide awake. I don't feel like I can sleep, not while waiting for Felicity to get here. I think she's almost on the plane to Cincinnati, but I'm not sure.. it's supposed to depart at midnight California time. Has anyone else had this problem, being sleepless while waiting for their SO to arrive?
-
Update.. just got a call here at work from her.. She's sitting in LAX still.. apparently Delta f**ked up, and the plane was delayed. The one they sent to replace the flight (or the one they booked her on, not sure), had equipment failure (pressurization problems or something).. So.. to make a long story sohrt, she won't be able to leave LAX until midnight, getting into Cincinnati at 7am-ish, delaying her to Lexington around 10am tomorrow... What kind of bullsh!t is that? Damn, I'm pissed.

Hey, whatever happened with your mom????
wondering the same thing
Not really sure, actually. She hasn't brought Felicity up the last time we talked, as far as I can remember. She might have brought it up briefly, but I don't really remember. I talked to my aunt last week, and she said she'd try talking to mom. Guess we'll have to see how that goes.

Just got a call from Felicity as I was leaving my last class. She just landed in LAX, got through immigration with no problem. They made her use her visitor visa she had from last visit that was still valid, though, so no worries with VWP. Somehow a plane somewhere has been delayed, so she'll be in my arms at 10 tonight, rather than 7:30.. Oh well. Just happy to see her.

I am from lexington but I will be working that day
I'm wondering if Saturday might be better for people. How does that work for you?
-
I know it's such short notice, but I was wondering if anyone in the Lexington, KY area might be interested in a meetup on May 5th, around 7pm-ish at an area restaraunt. I haven't come up with a venue yet, but thought Saturday might be a good day. Any takers?

I would like to if the money didn't suck so bad.
Is the pay really that bad? I heard it starts at 38k, but I guess if you're used to making more money than that, then yeah, the pay would suck

A friend and I were discussing careers, and what we want to do when we get out of school. He's trained in Arabic, and the topic of working for the Department of State in a Consulate or Embassy as a consular officer came up. Apparently, they just had the qualifying exam for the Foreign Service last month, so it's too late to apply for this year. Has anyone ever considered joining the foreign service? I think it'd be fascinating to spend the next 20 years abroad, not to mention I'm sure a lot of us could use a consular officer that's sympathetic to our situation!

I'm not really sure WHAT Iraq has to do with 9/11. Absolutely nothing. There is no link, it has been proven that there is no link. No WMD's, no nothing. We haven't even finished our "job" in Afganistan yet, Iraq is a clusterf#ck right now, and now we're considering invading Iran. Just because the US is a global power doesn't mean it needs to go around invading soverign nations.
-
I haven't seen her since mid October of last year, but she'll be here in 8 days to visit for a week.

#9 = Good Times
Definitely. I love how Perkins loans are being cut, Pell grants are being frozen, and work study grants have gone down the $hitter. How the hell am I expected to pay for my education, if I choose to go to school, or for Felicity's when she gets over here? This is an outrage!

On Waking Up Sleepless in the Middle of the Night
By John Brown
TO: The President
FROM: A former American diplomat
SUBJECT: Waking up in the middle of the night
Mr. President: Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night? Do you? Do you ever wake up sleepless in the middle of the night?
What have you done in Iraq? Do you ever realize, in the middle of the night, what you've done? Do you?
1. You've caused over 2,370 American soldiers to die in an impoverished land that never attacked us. Was that the right answer to 9/11 or the "threat" from Iraq? Do you ever ask yourself that question?
2. Because of your Iraq invasion, thousands of U.S. enlisted personnel are maimed, physically and mentally, for life. What can you tell these victims of your war? That you're honored by their duty towards you, our "mission-accomplished" commander-in-chief?
3. Your decision to go to war has led to the death of tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis. Do you have any remorse for this, Mr. President? Or was it that, for you, Iraqis only really deserved to serve as props in "shock and awe" -- your name for your made-for-TV porno/violence program at the beginning of the war, produced and distributed directly into our living rooms by the mainstream media? (Thank you, Fox News.)
4. Will you ever, ever accept responsibility for making torture all-American at Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, and elsewhere? And the Statue of Liberty -- why, tell us why, did you allow it to be replaced by that image of an abused, hooded, helpless prisoner on a box? Aren't you the least bit concerned at how America is seen by the rest of the world because of your war -- as a brutal aggressor nation, dismissive of the opinions of mankind?
5. What about your mercenaries ("Pentagon contractors") that our tax dollars pay for? Who are they? What are they doing in their multi-thousands in Iraq, and to the Iraqis? Do you know? Or don't you care to know?
6. You said you wanted to "rebuild" Iraq -- but isn't it true that all you've really done is construct a Roman-Empire-style camp, a "Green Zone" for Iraqi collaborators (whom you now mistrust) and U.S. personnel in the heart of Baghdad that is an invitation to insurgent mortars? Haven't you -- tell the truth -- destroyed in Iraq more than you have built? Haven't you?
7. You say Iraqis now live in a land of "freedom" -- but what kind of freedom? How can it ever be like the Four Freedoms of Franklin Delano Roosevelt -- freedom of expression and worship, joined with freedom from want and freedom from fear? As electricity fails and bombs terrify citizens in Baghdad, where is the freedom you promised Iraqis, Mr. President?
8. Your occupation of Iraq has led to a bloody sectarian conflict. Why do you and your ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad now blame the Iraqis for their problems? Don't you share responsibility for the desperate situation they are in?
9. Your trillion-dollar binge of destruction in the cradle of civilization -- who will pay for it? The widows of our soldiers? Our young people, already too debt-burdened paying for their educations? Or their baby-boomer parents who may see their pensions evaporate to support your war?
10. Why can't you truthfully tell us, Mr. President, the reasons you led America into war? Was it for the WMD, for regime change, for the oil, for grand neocon visions, to avenge your father, to win elections at home? What were your real intentions? Are you afraid to tell us? Or is the truth that, deep down, you never really knew?
11. And, Mr. President, as you contemplate another war, this time against Iran, won't you ever wake up in the middle of the night, and stop more madness before it is too late?
Now that the pot's been stirred, discuss!

For a REAL shake....go to Steak and Shake...had one once and mmmmmmmm, it's the real deal.
*grabs the keys and heads out the door*

We've discussed it at length before, and we've both decided that we'd like to be married for at least 7-8 years before attempting to have a baby. We'd like to travel the world first, and get to know each other more before trying to add that stress to our lives. We're also talking about maybe moving back to Australia to start a family, as the healthcare costs are lower, and the education system seems to be better.
However, the idea of not having kids at all has also come up. She loves kids, she's just not sure if she'd want to have them
-
I love giving and recieving, what can I say?
Waiting for some sort of smiley from Aussiewench on this one...

For me, it's usually something out of Australia. Lately it's been Triple J. Sometimes, I'll turn the news from Australia on, and let it play. Mixed response from folks at work, most people love it, others tell me to turn that #### off.

Memo to next Press Sec:
Here are your talking points:
1. Can't comment on an ongoing investigation.
2. That is protected by executive privilege.
3. That is crass politics.
4. I'm not at liberty to say.
5. So-and-so enjoys the complete conidence of the President.
6. It is not illegal if the President does it. He is the decider.
7. We have covered this issue before.
8. We don't subscribe to a pre-9/11 mentality.
9. We are fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here.
10. This concludes this session.

I'm not sure who can replace McClellan's shoes. It was amusing to watch him in the morning press briefings stumble and try to lie. At least Ari was a better liar than McClellan. McClellan was just more fun to watch on TV. Who else else has the stamina to repeat day after day that Saddam "was a grave threat"?

Now if we could only get them to commit suicide when their brains are too small.
Hear, hear!
