  1. I'm not familiar with either form 8879 or IT-201. I've also never heard it mentioned as a requirement. My understanding is that a W-2 and the 1040 form constitute a complete tax return. Or you can of course use the tax transcripts which replace the need for either the W-2 or 1040. I personally sent my fiancee the W-2s and 1040 for 2012 and the tax transcripts for 2012, 2011 and 2010.

Thank you for your answer! :) did you send original w2 and 1040 or copies?

  2. So I got the papers from my fiancé. He sent me the original tax returns since he already had them on hand. Now my question is.. I only need the W2 and 1040? I see there are other forms as the form 8879 or IT-201??? I'm so not familiar with these documents.

And people that sent the originals did you get them back?? Or just send copies? I don't wanna chance getting an RFE for that tho.

    Thank you all!

  3. I called last week and thy told me it was taking 8 weeks. I called again today and I got the NVC Case #!!!! I'm excited for the next steps.

Don't worry everyone, it will happen for you too. Just be patient and remember, even though this is a long process now, you will spend the rest of your lives together!!! So, in the end, all the waiting will be worth it!! Stay positive guys!

Hey can I ask you when your case was shipped to NVC? We got approved on August 2nd and shipped on the 16th August. Still no case number

    Congrats to you!

  4. I did a lot of research of timelines for TSC and the vast majority were shipped right around the 3 week mark. A few were shorter and a few were longer. We had NOA2 of July 25th and on Thursday August August 15th we were notified that our packet was sent to NVC the day before on August 14th. So for us the 3 week numbers played out almost perfectly. I also noticed they seem to ship once a week to NVC. Usually on Wednesday or Thursday. I would recommend waiting the 3 weeks then start making calls to USCIS in Texas. It is frustrating but just find the half full glass...you could still be sitting at VSC like some people seem to be. Best of luck and a word of advice, use this time to get everything you need for the interview process. It will keep you busy at least.

Thanks for the advice!! But our packet 3 papers been ready for about 2 months now looool the petitioner documents are on it's way also so I can't do anything but wait!!!

I won't complain tho. I wanna be there in November and I think that's still manageable :) it sure does annoy me tho

Good luck to everybody waiting to get to NVC! This week will be a good week! I'm sure!

  5. Yeah, if you didn't get a shipping notice, then it's highly unlikely that they will have it. TSC seems to be pretty good with the notices (but pretty bad with shipping in a decent amount of time). You were transferred to TSC, right?

Yes transferred June 21st and approved August 2nd. Is there anything you can do to speed the process up? We thought after the noa2 this crazy waiting game would be finally over.. How hard can it be to get these petitions in the mail?! Uuugh

  6. Did you call the DoS number, not the NVC? When I called DoS they told me to wait 2-3 weeks too. It's the NVC that gives out the 8 week line. DoS people actually have a clue and don't just read lines off a script. It never takes 8 weeks unless something is wrong or they lose your case somehow or send it to the wrong place. 3 weeks is a much better timeline.

Yea we called DOS right away since so many people stated its a much shorter waiting time, well we will hit the 3 weeks mark this coming Friday and we didn't get a shipping notice yet so we will wait and see.

Not sure what will happen when we call Friday and tell them we waited the 3 weeks they told us to wait. Probably a whole lot of.. NOTHING

  7. We called DOS today (first time calling ever after getting our noa2) we basically knew that there's no chance they have our file yet but we still wanted to try.

Of course they didn't have anything, it's been exactly 2 weeks since we been approved. But here comes the interesting part, the lady was super nice and said to allow it 3 weeks from approval.. Not 8? Are they all giving out different information? I'm confused.

  8. When you talk to the first person say right away you wanna talk to a tier 2 about your case. It's your RIGHT to talk to one. And they have to transfer you. They might say something like 'it'll be a long waiting time' trying to make you reconsider. Stay stubborn and say you'll gladly wait. And boy, you will wait!! We waited over 90 minutes once.

But the people that pick up have no information regarding your case since they don't have access to it. Only a tier 2 can look into your specific case.

Call and insist on talking to a tier 2.. Good luck!
