I sent out my case at the beginning of March. The money was collected from my account 2 weeks later. I still have not received a case number though..
I did receive an extension letter about 3 weeks later stating that I would get another letter with my case number..?
Has anyone else experienced this?
I moved to another state last week. And I tried changing my address at the USCIS website. But they want my case number and I do not have one. I already got 1 letter back saying the address change did not work.
I did forward my mail from my old address to the new one at the post office. But that wont fully go in until next week.
Whenever I call them they say I need to speak to someone that's level 2 but everyone is busy and I should call back...
I am just not sure at this point when most people get their case number sent to them..
Thanks

Hello,
I came in on J1 visa too. Your best option is to go back home and file for a fiancée K1 visa. That's what we did.
I'm not sure how to do it otherwise. Please help me!
I am a Bangladeshi currently I am in USA with J-1 visa & with US department of state scholarship program My visa will expire May 10 2016 But I want to stay here & want to get citizenship -
Just got approved for AOS. Did not receive an interview waiver. And did not need an interview.
Good luck to the rest! Almost there!
-
i think people advised you not to leave and miss your interview date, you choose to do that so now you have to refile. I honestly don't understand why anyone would miss an interview that you have been waiting forever for especially knowing how governments work especially to go on a vacation:/
I have to agree with this.
-
CONGRATS!!!
I got my GC without an interview or a waiver too.
I didn't even know that was possible without a waiver! i'm not complaining though lol!
-
That's crazy!! i only had my biometrics taken once for my EAD. i thought i had to go again for this!
Thanks

Hello all,
Today i received this update on my I-485 Adjustment of status.
On March 5, 2016, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number ..... , and will mail it to the address you gave us.
Does this mean i have been approved?
I got my NOA1 for this and an RFE a month ago, i sent that back. But i never received a letter for an interview or a waiver?
I thought that you have to have an interview or a waiver to get approved?
-
That is really bizarre. As far as I remember the biometrics letter just arrive like your NOA's would without an email/online update. I am sorry you are going through so much trouble with something in this process that really should be fast and easy. I hope it goes better after this and that you can sort it out with the post office. And that USCIS don't send you anymore misleading email updates!
It's so crazy! I was expecting this part to be easy lol!
I just hope that onces they do send out the card. The post office is not gonna return it like they did with the rest...
-
So i called USCIS and asked what that email means that says card production. He said 'I think it's your card' But it could also be something else'
So i asked him if he could fax me the papers, since we aren't receiving anything. He said NO. i said well that's yours and my only option until i get this figured out with the post office. Which i have been trying to do for the past 3 months.
He said i''ll transfer you to the immigration officer maybe he can fax them. So he did. And that guy was kinda weird about some stuff. saying that i gave them the wrong address.. While i called them 3 times to check if the address was right. And it was all 3 times.
He finally said the letter we are sending you if for you biometrics appointment. And its on the 1st. Which is in 3 business days. I told him i would never get that letter on time by mail.
So he agreed to fax it to us tomorrow. i'm gonna call them tomorrow morning to make sure they are gonna fax it. And if they haven't faxed it by 2 i will call them again until they do.
He said but if you miss it it's not that bad. you can always go there and they can either help you or reschedule... Like that helps. (more waiting)
-
I would then check with the post office to find out if there is a reason why mail is being sent back and not delivered. Very strange that you received NOA for one thing but not the other.
I guess now it is just waiting then to see if it is actually the card that they are sending to you. And keep your story updated here, it might help others in the same situation.
Oh yes i deff will! thank you all for the answers
-
Sent back to USCIS? And you have filed more than two months ago without receiving the notification? I would call customer service and notify them.
Yes back to USCIS.. i did call them multiple times a week. checked my address with them which was the right address. filed numerous service requests. i even called them earlier today to ask what was going on. and just now i got this email.
that's why i find this email so weird.
the only thing so far i received was the noa1 for the AP. which is the least of my concerns,
-
nope absolutely nothing. i haven't even received my noa1.. i did get the email notification with my number. and 2 notices that mail was send back for the work permit.
I can't be certain..did you get a previous update saying "case approved" for the I-765?
my understanding was that they don't process the EAD until biometrics are completed but who knows.
-
That is very odd. The case status you received is the update they give when they send a card to you. Maybe someone had a similar experience where they received their EAD before biometrics that can tell you about their experience, but I've never heard of that. Sorry I can't help with that.
Thanks anyways though.. we have had 5 letters being send back by the post office today was the fifth!
they told us to keep the mail at the post office and we could pick it up there to make sure we would get our mail.. so we did.. and still they are sending it back.. going there tomorrow for answers.
if they did send the card. i hope i will actually receive it. since so far everything that can go wrong did.,
-
Thats very strange for them to approve your case before taking your biometrics as your fingerprint is printed on the actual EAD.
only time will tell, be on the look out for another update.
So you also think that that email means i'm getting my card?
My friend got hers earlier because her biometrics was canceled 3 times because of snow storms.. but that took her 8 months.. mine is barely 3..
-
Yes, your EAD has been mailed to you.
I have not had my biometrics though?
-
does this mean i'm getting the card? or am i too excited?

Ayla, everyone,
You should ways carry any papers with personal information of any kind, along with any valuables and electronics in your carry on. The baggage that's checked is opened at multiple points along the way and you don't know who will be touching your things, including, if you leave the papers in there, your identity. It may weigh you down a bit more, but nothing will be as bad as having your valuables stolen or your bank accounts emptied.
Congrats and safe travels!!!
You are so right! I don't know why I didn't think of that! Lol.
Thank you!
-
Oh, take them with you. You might need something for AOS. I'm taking mine in case. We might need to build a library for all these forms, haha.
I just won't carry them in my messenger bag. Who are you flying with?
Im definitely taking everything with me. Im just wondering should I bring them in my carry on. Im flying with delta. Im assuming I don't need them until the aos part. And all the immigration at POE would need is the envelope.
-
Just yourself and your wedding plans
Is the envelope huge? I'm going to have two of them. I hope I don't have to give up a whole carry on bag for our visa paperwork
Lol exactly what I was thinking. It's like a normal form size but pretty heavy.
So I think I don't need my other forms. All of the k1 and 1-129F forms?
