Hate to say it guys but my immigration attorney (many years of practice) told us that permanent resident status and the clock to ROS and naturalization starts from the date on your GC - the date it is approved and not your wedding date. We had this false assumption as well. No matter what, you will be going through the ROS process 2 years after you finally get it. That is why this wait and the GC's obtained early through interview are so maddening. My wife cannot petition her over 18 y/o son until she has a GC. Life is literally on hold...
I understand that 2 years from the date that appears on GC, but they would issue you a 10 years GC if you married more than 2 years of marriage instead of conditional GC?

I'm sat here trying to work my way through my first year of filing a federal tax return, FATCA & FBAR and all the rest of it. What really annoys me is that I fail to pass the IRS 'Green Card Test' because I haven't got one but the IRS have got me on the 'Substantial Presence Test' instead. It's amazing how they can treat you as an LPR for tax purposes but not immigration purposes. Grrrrrrrrhh.
I dont know what IRS requires to file income tax ( form 1040 ). I dont have any foreign banks, however I am filling form 1040 by paper and I will send it with a copy of my EAD. What is Substantial Presence Test?

It will be 7 months from NPIW letter and nothing is moving. Service requests, Congressman (dont even hear anything from him), and Ombudsman (still waiting) dont even help. My local office is processing May 16, 2014 which is 2 months after I filed. I dont really bother to call them anymore and I just hope my file is somewhere and get approved after 2 years of marriage so I dont have to do ROC.

For medical exam, you need to call in to make an appointment before going to HCM. You can call to make an appointment for vaccination as well but they will tell you to just come in, however it is better to call them first. I went to see doctor for medical exam first and then vaccinate.

I just want to ask whether you changed the address in the past?

I think the old passport can use to proof as US citizen as published in the travel.state.gov
I'm renewing my passport. Do I get the old one back?
Yes, we will return the old, cancelled passport to you. It may be sent separately from your new passport. It is a good idea to keep your old passport in a safe place as it is considered proof of your U.S. citizenship.

UGH getting soooo frustrated with USCIS now. People with July NPIW are getting their GC already and my NPIW is June 27th and still nothing! Any 6/27ers out there left besides me?
I am on the same boat as you (6/27). I have done everything in my power such as service request, congressman, ombudsman. There is nothing else I can try excepting the waiting game.

If you want to have ID card or driver license, then you need to have Green Card or EAD card along with other documents in your state. K-1 visa has only 3 months on I-94. So you need to file I-485, I-765 and I-131 ( you dont have to file I-131, but its free if you file with I-485 together). I was able to get ID with 1 month left on I-94 and my ID will expire in 4 years without EAD card. However, the driver license is expired on same day with my EAD card ( 1 year )

<p> I filed a service request last night, noting that the 6 month delay as stated on the 7/29 NPIW letter is up in 2 weeks, and that I was concerned about my medical expiring next month. I received an email confirmation saying I'd get a reply by 2/4. This morning, these 3 updates are displayed on my case status, but unfortunately I didn't receive a response by email so it looks like they may have mailed it. The previous service request in December was answered by email, and I never received anything in the post, so I assumed this would be the same.

On January 14, 2015, your inquiry about why your case is taking longer than our processing time, referral number SR101315xxxxxNYC, was completed. -

why did you send to Dallas TX?

I might consider it Derwood, I see i have to register.
Change of topic, has anyone tried using this form and contacting the Ombudsman?
I did fill out Form 7001 yesterday and they just said that if they can help, then I will receive a response within 45 days. If they can't help, then they will notify me as soon as possible.
-
Yep! It says also that they've sent me a response. Is it the same thing as yours? What did you do after you received a letter from them? Did you renew your Ead card yet? My EAD card will gets expired on June 21, 2015.
I submitted two requests and I got the same response for both of them such as my application is pending. They told us to renew EAD within 120 days. My EAD will expire on 06/02/2015 so I am ready to send them out by 02/05/2015. I have contacted my congressman and have not heard from them almost one month and I definitely burn that letter lol. I have filled out the CIS Ombudsman Form DHS-7001 yesterday so I am still waiting on their response.

I just checked my case on USCIS website and there's an update regarding for my service request I sent last Dec.18th, 2014. It only says there that my case was assigned by an officer and was completed dated today Jan.12th but my status is still on acceptance since April 12th, 2014.
In your case history, does it say they sent you a response ...?. If it does, then you will receive a letter by mail which says that your case is current pending and prepared to renew your EAD card within 120 days.

I requested to update the new address last few days and they just updated the address without touching my case.

As I was reading all the posts here, I finally have some people who are in the same shoes as I am. So frustrating for waiting on this thing, I called and talked to an Immigration Officer this week since it's already past 6 months from the date of the waiver letter (June 27, 2014) and she just told me that it's gonna take 2 years for the greencard. I'm like what??? My combo card (EAD/AP) will expire on May 2015. Do we need to renew it or they will automatically extend our work permit?
You need to renew it within 120 days before expiring.
-
I had changed my address on September 2014 and that was it.
I changed my address recently on 01/06/2015, and the case is assigned to the officer for response.
I will let you guys know if that will change the situation.

Do I count from the day we sent the album or the day we received the confirmation letters that they received our album?
Go to USCIS and enter your receipt number to check your status, it should say the date and use that date to count 75 days.
-
1 800 375 5283 and make sure your applicatipn is pending more than 75 days.
-
I have called USCIS to file service request due to my application pending more than 75 days. I got approved the next day or so. I remember many people did too.

I submitted one last week and I was confused as to why the last 3 letters said DAL (Dallas) then I found out the local office services the requests which like you said is useless..
I called customer service again and she tried to convince me that the response was from NBC. I told her that it stated as my local office on the letter as well as on the envelope and the post office stamp also shows my local office's city. Where does it show NBC? She was then mad at me and repeated the same thing.
-
I have submitted two service requests within 3 months and I dont think it helps at all. The problem is that the file is at NBC ( my local office told us that), however the local office was replying my requests. Therefore, the service request is useless in my opinion.
I have contacted my Congressman last week and hope I can hear something from him soon. My 6 months is due last week.

1) I dont have to renew every year for my combo card. GC and AP can use to travel but I am more relaxable with GC than AP. My medical exam is about to expire which I want to have my GC as soon as possible so that I dont have to go see Civil Surgeon again ( money).
2) I dont have to renew my driver license every year ( money).
3) I can apply US Citizenship early which means I dont have to deal with USCIS again.

USCIS changed their website last month or so and people have problem to check their status. Now, USCIS reenters the receipt number back to their new system that is why you received text or email ( I received multiple texts and emails).

If she leaves US without Green Card or AP card, then her AOS will abandon and she cant go back to US unless she has a valid visa. She and you have to start I-130 while you guys are apart.
