Confusedtinybird got a reaction from TamMatUS in Documents To Retain SA Citizenship
    Hello,

You will need form BI-1664 & BI529 if you type in google these forms you can find them.
    Copy of your green card.
Letter stating why you want to retain South African Citizenship.
Copy of your South African Passport.
    $25 fee Money Order

You need to do this before you become a US citizen. As far as getting the documents notarized you can just go to a UPS store and ask for a notary that is what we did.

You can PM me if you have any other questions. We did this a couple years ago.

Hi! I just saw this, but  if you are planning on applying for US Citizenship I would go ahead and apply to keep your South African Citizenship. It took a while for ours to come in the mail. You HAVE like last day possible to have it when you take the Oath.

I the USC was living in South Africa when the ban (Undesirable) person came about. It wont influence anything with the United States. I have included some links that will help explain the ban some more.

Yes, you have to apply to keep it if you also want US Citizenship. It's called Letter of Retention. Just make sure you have that letter before you apply for US Citizenship.

We did CR-1 and they were K-1 being interviewed next to us. So I believe that they are all grouped together.

Unabridged Birth Certificate takes forever because you have to deal with Useless Affairs. It really just depends on where you applied and how much you follow up on it. You HAVE to be proactive with them. Call them and follow up with them often.

They did several years ago. I went in with my husband. I brought my Passport to show that I was the American and they waived me through. I was able to be interviewed with my husband at the window.

I have seen some post about DCF in Kenya. You can use the search bar on the right hand side and try to look them up. You would have to be in Kenya to do DCF. DCF cannot be done in the United States, and you would need to move back to Kenya and establish residence.

Confusedtinybird got a reaction from Moon&Stars in K1 221g for court records
The police did paper records and the records did get lost. I used to live in Cape Town and I saw that happen. I think you need a lawyer to try and track down that court case.

If it was a civil case I would look for a civil lawyer in South Africa. And try to go from there.

Also there are some South African lawyers in the USA that might be able to help. Maybe you can message them or call them for advise?

Also check out bunnyhop.co.za and see if they could help you.

If you are asking if you will get documents from the Embassy in South Africa mailed to you then no, it's all done by e-mail.
I would put your home address when filling out forms.
And if you ever need to mail anything don't use the post office. Use DHL or Fedex.

Confusedtinybird got a reaction from VAN2015 in South Africa Consulate - Medical/Interview Questions
The medical was done in 1 day for us. It was a long day, but it can be done in 1 day. This included the doctors visit, X-rays, blood work, and vaccines.
Call AS soon as you have your interview date. They like the two week window for the results of the test, and for your medical records to make their way back to the Consulate.
It really depends on the processing time. Ours was processed the next day. But if they need extra information or something is missing then it might delay the processing time. Based on what I have read it shouldn't be that long. Just check what days they are open to the public for pick up of the visa.
I would wait till you have his Birth Certificate, but that's my opinion. Do you have the option of paying to get it expedited? I know in South Africa you can do this.

I personally don't think that what is happening is South Africa will qualify for an expedite. I think that would be very hard to prove. I think you would have to show that you and your kids have be directly affected by this.
Also I agree with Tabeak I don't know how much time you would gain. I think you are probably pretty close. And once your petition reaches South Africa it will move very fast.

The bans are between 1 and 5 years. So you really need to work on clearing this ASAP so he can go to his interview.
I would e-mail this address Overstayappeals@dha.gov.za Here is the link http://www.dha.gov.za/index.php/immigration-services/overstay-appeals
There is also a contact number. Start calling and check the status. It might of been been lost. I would also e-mail this person mkuseli.apleni@dha.gov.za for help.
    Good luck!

It won't mess up the PCC. It's not a criminal charge. Only criminal charges will show up on the PCC.
With the new visa regulations that are in now in place since last year foreigners are now being banned instead of being fined. You don't need to worry about it. It's not an issue. It won't affect the visa.
When he left South Africa did he receive a slip of paper saying he was banned? He would of received this at the airport at the same time when he gets his passport stamps.

Won't affect the application. Just start working IF you do get banned ASAP. It could take a while to appeal the ban. And you might need to get a lawyer involved.

    Hi,
It looks like according to the reviews on VJ see the link that the Petitioner is not allowed in. Read the review posted on March 25, 2014. But, to be 100% you should call or phone the Embassy.

Go online to the IRS website and you can get your tax transcript for all the years that he filled. This can be downloaded via the IRS website.

I didn't even have numbers. It wasn't until I needed to fill out the DS-230 that I had to e-mail an asked what the A number was. So I wouldn't worry about it! When I booked the medical I said doing DCF and I wasn't given a number and they asked for a name and a surname. It wasn't an issue.

You should really start the process closer to when you will be moving to the United States. When you get the CR1 visa it means you are ready to move to the U.S.A.
Better to file in Canada when you are ready to live in the USA.
Not sure what country you are in now as you just say Asia, (DCF might not be available in your country) but it would be approved very fast and they you would have to pack up and move to the USA.
