01-20-17: NOA1 date
03-01-17: Biometrics
02-10-18: Received approval letter dated 02-06-18 (Had N400 biometrics appointment on 02-05-18 coincidentally ...)Case status wasn't updated to show approval. Called Tier2 on 02-13-18, the card still hadn't been produced.
How long is it taking everyone to received their GC after approval?

April 21, 2014: USCIS received AOS packet
April 17, 2015: Card in production
April 20, 2015: "Welcome Notice for Receipt Number XXX. Please follow the instructions in the notice. Your new permanent resident card should arrive by June 19, 2015, after this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later"
Hopefully it doesn't actually take that long...
PS we got the interview waiver letter in July 2014.
-
No, they haven't applied for AOS.
The thing is open enrollment under my employer is only good 30 days after marriage. The clock is ticking..
-
From my understanding the Affordable Care act mandates that folks get health insurance.
But someone on a K1 visa, who is now married, but hasn't received the green card.... would they be required to? Is there any guidance on this?
Thanks for your responses in advance guys!
-
Can I get my vaccinations done in my home country and then just submit that to USICS when I apply for my AOS? It was not part of my medical examination.
Because I'm sure it'll be cheaper here than in the USA.
Has anyone had any experience with that?
-
Change in case creation date and change from Immigrant to Nonimmigrant = good sign.
-
When I received packet 3.5 fom Islamabad for K1 it said PCC are not required for pakistan, india, and afghanistan. Just like it says on the travel website on state dept website.
-
Perhaps ths will help if you haven't already figured it out:
-
Did you figure out what happened?
Because this morning I had checked my status and it said the application was in AP, now it says what you have, "No Status: Please contact the U.S. Consular office you believe is responsible for processing your visa application."
-
It takes a while. My case was approved (Texas service center) on September 30th but was not mailed to NVC until 11-12-13. Then NVC officially received the file on 11-19-13.
TCS takes their sweet time, and NVC will tell you 8 weeks and that seems to be pretty accurate. Mine took about 7 weeks.
-
I had the same thing just today actually. I called NVC, the rep explained the process and basically said you have to wait for embassy/consulate to schedule an interview. That status is misleading - there is no interview date provided. Packet 3.5 comes first
-
My petition was approved on September 30th (texas service center) & NVC received it on November 19th.
So a little more than 1.5 months.
-
if you read the new packet 3.5 from the embassy/consulate (islamabad) which i emailed the embassy for 2 weeks ago, it says you dont need it for pakistan/india anymore. so they are following whats stated on the state dept site now too.
-
I had the same thing. And I called NVC to confirm. They said it doesn't I-129fs always go to NVC first, it's poor wording on USCIS' part.
So now you just wait for NVC to get your case & for them to forward it to the consulate/embassy.
-
I noticed that the new packet 3.5s that go to the embassy no longer include the petitioner and beneficiary to submit a letter of intent signed within 30 days of interview.
are most people still supposed to take that just to be safe or is it safe to assume that it's no longer needed?
-
did you have to call them? or did they just send it to you? did u call nvc btw or dos?
-
It might vary depending on embassy but certainly for London we only have to send in DS-160's confirmation page and DS-2001 now. I checked the Islamabad Embassy site but trying to find info on it regarding any specific K-1 procedure is like trying to draw blood from a stone.
I'd assume at this point that you send DS-160's confirmation page in along with DS-2001 and then of course take I-134 and everything else in on the day of the interview.
Thank you! And yeah the Islamabad site isn't the most helpful
Hello
... Yes, the forms are different now. It changed on October 7th. All forms are replaced by the online DS-160. If you visit the link below, it tells you what you need. The islamabad embassy website also gives the link to travel.state.gov
http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2994.html#5
According to the link, only DS 160 has to be completed and the confirm page has to be bought to the interview. The I-134 is optional for Islamabad but I would take it no matter what. I am currently working on this step as well because we got our approval a few days before the change. Have you received your case number from NVC yet. If so, you should email the embassy to double check if anything else is needed. Thats what I will do. I am just waiting on the NVC part.
Hope this helps
I'm still waiting for NVC to get the case & give the case number. I called and they hadn't received it. It's been 14 days since I was approved but still nothing.

Are the forms required for K1 visa now compeltely different? We were going to fill out the forms beforehand so we were prepared..... but now it seems like DOS changed the requirements.
Is all that's required now DS-160 & DS-260 and I-134?
Please don't tell me to go to the VJ guides. They aren't updated or answering my Qs.

I was wondering if anyone can share their experience with police certificates from countries that the DOS say they don't need it.
1. How do you support that, do i just print the page that says it?
2. How long are the police certificates valid for in the eyes of the embassy?
3. When would I need to have police certificates by? Do I need them by the time Packet 3.5 arrives, the medical, or the interview?

I was wondering if anyone can share their experience with police certificates from countries that the DOS say they don't need it.
For Pakistan on the DOS site it says the following:
"Police Records
Not available. Pakistan has no nationwide tracking system in place for criminal activities. Police Character Certificates are available for a fee from District Coordinating Offices. However, they are not an accurate reflection of an individual's criminal record. An applicant who has committed a crime in one district may be able to obtain a clean Character Certificate from that district or another. Given the inaccuracy of these certificates, they are not required for consular processing." (http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=9713)
1. Would the person at the interview make it a big issue? How do you support that, do i just print the page that says it? Because I know people can get them.... but if its not required does it matter? Worth wasting the time/effort?
2. How long are the police certificates valid for in the eyes of the embassy?
3. When would I need to have police certificates by? Do I need them by the time Packet 3.5 arrives, the medical, or the interview?
Thanks for your help guys!

Congrats
between what was ur RFE ?
It was about providing proof of having met within past 2 years
-
But they don't have a valid reason to REJECT applications, right? Just delay approvals?
i JUST got my NOA2 yesterday.... i dont want to have to start over because they'll reject them without any reason when you paid for their services!
-
I filed to VSC in February 2013. Got the approval 9/30/13 after 8 months. 8 months of hell that was. We had an RFE though and got xfered to TCS in the middle too.
They took exactly 60 days to deal with our RFE.
After 20 days of sending our RFE i put in a service request, and they said approval was being held up bc of a security/background check.
