Just got notified that I received mail from the Embassy today at home !
ArianneChris, will let you know what is included in Packet 3 once I get home
Can't wait!
btw seeing as your NOA2 was around the same time as mine, I'd imagine you'd receive your Packet 3 pretty soon too
That's so exciting!!! Please do update
.
Maybe I'm just too anxious, but I just want to know if I need to send in the birth certificate and I-130 with the packet 3 documents, or do we just bring those to the interview.
I tracked my case on dhl and it just left LA earlier this morning. So hopefully it should be at Auckland either thursday or friday.
I booked my medical just now for September 9 at citymed on Albert Street. They had earlier appointments, that day was just convenient for me, and I will most likely have my packet 3 by then. They just ask for your case number. Can't wait to get all this sorted!

hope someone here know the answers, I'd like to know as well
just got my case number through email today! also does anyone know when you can schedule for the medical? can you just book with a case number or have to wait for packet 3?
It's good to know that you got your case number! My case is still "in transit". I'm not sure about booking the medical, I want to schedule it for the 9th of Sept as early as possible, but I'm not sure if I can schedule it without packet 3. I did email the IV department at the consulate, and they replied like, 30 minutes after the office opened on the Monday. I inquired about the medical and preferring a thursday appointment, and they replied with this
"As soon as we receive the case file from NVC we will send out our packet of instructions to your N.Z. address, along with the medical forms and instructions.
When you have completed the forms as per our instructions, and are ready for your interview, you need to send back the confirming signed slip (on page 2 of our instructions) and indicate at that time you require a Thursday appointment. We will do our best to work in with you."

I guess the letter could be proof that she is going there to visit you and return. It could highlight the fact that she is going there for a legitimate reason with a definite endpoint. It will most likely depend on your country if she needs it or not. I applied for a visitor's visa, and I just said that I was going there for vacation, and I had family there. Didn't really need to provide proof that I had family there, but you do write a contact person and address you'll be staying at the US... But then again it's a low-risk consulate
-
Also, specific information of what is included in packet 3 will be appreciated. I noticed that the information here on VJ was last updated a few years ago so things may have changed
-
For the auckland consulate, I just wawnted to ask if they prefer that you send them documents such as birth certificate, I-134, etc. back with the DS-230 after receiving packet 3? Or is it like Australia where you bring these documents to the consulate at the interview.
Thank you.

No, it won't say on the website. Only say "at NVC". I had been calling the DOS number but on the 5th day ( most have been moving in 3 or 4 business days) I called the NVC number and the gentleman said "it hasn't been shipped yet it requires some additional processing" I didn't think anything about it until I saw the pinned post about Aap at NVC.
I have 2 thoughts. They randomly do this to cases or there was an error from TSC when they sent over the packet. Who knows. I'll keep this tread updated In case any others get this. It is possible others have gone through it and weren't as impatient as I am. From research on VJ it used to be a long process but seems considerably shorter these days.
I see. If our case isn't shipped next week we might try calling again too just in case. Thanks!

Got case number, but found out Friday that we are in AP at NVC. Been there since Monday the 19th Seems from what I read could be a few weeks before its shipped. Not a great way to start the weekend!
How did you find out? Does it say on the website status?
-
oh thanks for your reply ArianneChris
that make me feel a bit better. Now since you just received your case number, do you have to contact the consulate in Auckland before they send the case? this is what I saw on the Auckland consulate website:
Alien applicant needs to provide Consulate General with evidence of visa status in New Zealand, also case number, name and date and place of birth and current N.Z. address and phone number. We can then request the case file from another Post or directly from the National Visa Center
that sounds like more unnecessary delay...
I'm not exactly sure. I thought they would email me when they got the packet, but I guess it wouldn't hurt if I email them to ask about that. I'll try emailing them tomorrow with my case number and stuff and let you know if they get back to me

I am a Chinese citizen but I'm currently in NZ. I am now waiting for NVC to give me a case number amd forward the case to the consulate in Auckland. I was reading information about Third Country National applying for k1 on the NZ consulate website, and it says that
"
First, that person must show that they have permission from the New Zealand Immigration Service to remain in New Zealand for 6 months or longer i.e. NOT just on a tourist visa. Depending on the immigrant visa category involved, it is possible that we would accept that person's immigrant visa application. In general, however, the person must have some ties to New Zealand; that is, some reason for being here beyond applying for the visa."
So in order for the consulate here in NZ to accept my application, I have to have a valid NZ visa for more than 6 months and have some tie to NZ.
I have been on a student visa in NZ for the past 7 years and I just changed to a 1 year work visa as I finished uni a month ago. so I meet the 1st requirement.
Now I'm nervous about the 2nd requirement. Since I have just finished uni and am also applying for K1, it's impossible for me to have a permanent job right now. So now I'm just looking for part time work while waiting, I wonder if that can cause a problem??
I have been in NZ long before I met my fiance and I'd stay here if I didnt meet him....the thing is, last year I tried to apply for a visitor visa in Auckland so I can visit my fiance, but was rejected.. the reason given was that I didn't have a strong tie to NZ...and that was when I was still studying. Now I'm not in uni anymore and don't have a job, wouldn't that make them refuse to take my case?
I was worried about that too since I've read that sometimes people get sent to the wrong consulates. I'm a citizen of the Philippines with NZ residency. You have been legally residing in NZ for a long time, so there should be no problem. To be honest it's highly unlikely that you are "visa shopping". You are already in NZ, have studied there for your secondary and tertiary qualifications, and was granted a work visa. Bottom line is you can stay in NZ if you want, and it would be the most convenient option, if not for the fact that you fell in love with someone halfway around the world. I don't think anyone would think that you would go to all the trouble to just start another process of paperwork, getting social security, bank accounts, qualifications validated etc etc. in a country you've never even been to.
We did just got our case number a few days ago that started with ACKxxxxxxx. So I think you'll be fine too.
-
guess it's back to calling then...was hoping to avoid this since it's so hard to talk to someone from NVC on the phone. thanks for your help.
Our file was shipped to NVC On the 15th of August, we got our case number on Thursday the 22nd. Today, it is still "at NVC" waiting to be shipped (maybe with other NZ applicants like yourself
). I suspect that your case may be at NVC already. I would recommend you call DOS, wait time is way faster than at NVC. My fiance usually only waits between 15-30 minutes, compared to 2 hours at NVC. People are also nicer 202-663-1225

They used to get sent to the Vermont Service Center (for east coast applicants). However, just recently they announced that those who originally went to Vermont will not all be sent to Texas. So yes that is a correct and it is a recent change. From posts by VJ members so far, Texas gives you a NOA2 quicker than Vermont, but it takes longer (3-5 weeks) before your file reaches NVC.

Thank you!
-
Thanks!
So I'll put down my secondary schools (high school and college as it's called here in new zealand) attended and tertiary (university) is that correct?
-
33. List all educational institutions attended
Do I list ALL of my educational institutions since elementary? Or do I just put in Tertiary? Secondary?
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

don't know what warranted Tom/Mav to respond in that way towards me but nonetheless I appreciate your input.
Thank you very much Ning, and everyone else who has responded positively and thank everyone for the information
I say that this relationship is three months and that I have strong feelings for her.. never have I said that this was happening tomorrow or anything. At earliest it was going to be this time next year before meeting.. me and my gf understand that this is going to be a long and hard road but we truly do have Love for each other and feel time is of no issue.. so for someone to look down upon this post as phony and as "prepared" truly does hurt but i ignore these comments.. because I know what me and this woman have... "swallow some Geritol" ummm i'm 28 and shie is 25.. .young people have health issues too so sorry for that
I know now that I will just have to get as healthy as possible and go visit her. Like I said I am more than willing to do that but was wondering about my health... and thanks everyone for the input. I guess I will be going to the phils next year
Love is a strong and strange force my friends... and thanks once again everyone.. good luck to all you couples out there going through your process. I wish the best to you all.
Good to know that you are considering visiting her. Which part of the phils are you going to? Some areas have more air pollution than others. I've lived in Manila the majority of my life, and pollution is horrendous. If you were to go there, my advice would be to hop on cabs and just stay at a hotel near where she is. I suggest posting in the Philippines portal section of the forums and getting specific info there.
-
Getting a tourist visa for her will be very difficult. Not only is the Philippines a high risk country, but even people who are middle to upper class are known to absolutely want to live and stay in the US. I don't really know why it's just that mentality that it's greener pastures yaddah yaddah. Also, since her purpose of visit is to meet you, that will be a big red flag as she might have intent to immigrate. She will need to have very VERY strong ties, but even that the CO might still deny her.
You can try to have her file, then if it gets denied. then you will have to arrange maybe to meet at Singapore, or better yet just stay in a hotel room in the Philippines the entire time.

I believe all VSC to TSC transfers get an email saying "we've shipped this reaffirmed or approved application to the department of state...". I would recommend starting to call after the email. You can call all you want, but the reality is that your case is still in a crate at TSC waiting to be shipped to NVC.
-
Just FYI, just got another notice from USCIS. This time saying that "On August 15, 2014, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly."
So, I'm now going to say something that I'm pretty sure no one ever says about the US government: this is moving too fast! According to the information on this site,
We're going to have to hope Sydney's consular officer feels like extending this, because he's actually going to be in the United States at that four-month mark (here for Christmas), and work obligations mean that he really can't immigrate here until March. Yikes! When we started this process, we did so thinking that we wouldn't get approved and moved to NVC/DoS until the middle-to-end of September!
Thank you for posting! I just checked and we got shipped too! woohoo!
I believe you are able to delay it when it gets to Sydney. It may take two to three weeks before it actually gets to Sydney. By that point you are at September. Then, your fiance can take his time filling out the forms, doing the medical/etc. They do allow a 4 month period from the date of your NOA2 for you to get all your paperwork and medical done. Then, he doesn't need to enter the united states until 6 months after visa approval. So, if you really want to, you can put off the medical for 3 months, have the interview in December, and he won't need to be in the US until May.
-
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you then....hopefully you'll get that email soon. There seems to be no pattern to follow while going through this....someone gets approved before you etc.
Are you going to start calling the NVC anyway in a few days?
I just want this all sorted and to see my fiance's face as I come through arrivals :-)
Thank you
We tried calling NVC yesterday and they said they don't have it yet. We'll wait until the end of this week and then will start calling again next week
Yes, anticipating seeing my fiance again is all that gets me through all this waiting!! All the best to you and your fiance. Im sure that all will go smoothly from now and that you get to see him very soon!

Hi,
We got approved July 24th and had been transferred to Texas beforehand. Got the email to say its been despatched to the NVC yesterday. Will give it a few days and will then start calling for that case number......
Thanks for the update. We were transferred to Texas as well, and got approved on July 23rd but still haven't gotten any email that they sent it to NVC. Now I'm starting to get paranoid that we'll be one of those cases that get lost and sent to NRC or something
-
I got my case number and i was approved july 23
Did you get an email saying that it left TSC and was being forwarded to NVC before you got the case number? Was just wondering cause I haven't gotten my case number yet, but also no email

For a K1 visa, is a police certificate required from every place (within the same country) that my fiance has stayed for more than 6 months since she was 16? She had gone to a different state for her college degree and was wondering if a certificate was required from that state as well.
Any help would be appreciated
I believe USCIS will do the police checks for anywhere in the US
-
That sounds about right if he was not required to file. Unfortunately I did have to file even though I barely earned anything. Nothing of significance to the I-134 in any case. That seems strange that your embassy asks for the beneficiary's bank account statements. Do they allow for self-sponsorship or something?
Yeah I think it's a bit strange that they ask for the beneficiary's bank statements. But people who went through the process at the Auckland embassy have confirmed that information in packet 3 asks for bank statements. Not entirely sure how that adds to the decision-making process. Although, since they might take my assets into account, and that his income will meet the requirements, we figured we'll try to not initially include a joint sponsor but will have one in line as suggested by Jay-Kay. Thanks to everyone for all your help

Thank you for the info! Really appreciate it! I guess I have to go to the JP to certify my documents. I only have one original copy of my birth certificate, and I'm a bit scared of posting it.
Good luck to you too!
Maybe we'll bump into each other for the interview. hehe
