  1. Patrick just went to take the test for his driver's license. He passed both sections with flying colors and was then informed that since his I-94 would be expiring on September 23, his license would expire on that day as well. We filed the AOS paperwork on September 5th along with his EAD, but have not recieved any documentation thus far. What can we use to get him his drivers license? The office said they would hold his results, but we do need to have some other documentation to show that his legal stay in the United Sates has been extended. Any help will be appreciated!!

  2. Payment should be like this:

The AOS is $325 plus $70 "biometric fees" = $395.00

    The EAD is $180

Question .. i hope you don't mind... i check on ur timeline ..

    US Entry : 2006-06-26 Marriage : 2006-09-30

and ur planning to wed on september 30?? If i'm not mistaken, did u enter US june 26??? so ur 90 days should be expired by september 26 ..... ur not trying to get married within 90 days.

    just wondering... gudluck!

We got married by a judge the week after entry - but we're having a religious ceremony on Sept 30th....we're really both looking at that as our real wedding date. The judge was just somthing that had to be done. Thanks for all the help and advice tho!

  3. My fiance is getting ready to apply for his AOS and EAD(we're applying at the same time) and I know that I need to provide an Affidavit of Support...but I'm not sure which one.

Looking at the USCIS website I see both i-864EZ and i-864 forms. He entered from the UK as a K-1 Visa. So which one should I use??

Also, do I need to provide a copy of my tax return for the last year?? I've been told I might even need copies from the last 3 years. I know I need a letter from my employies to confirm my employment but I'm not sure what else is required.

Any help would be great, thanks in advance!

  4. Ok guys, thanks for the advice...but now I've got more questions!

Filling out the form I-765 we see that you need to put yourself into an "eligibility Categorie". We thought that we would fall under (a)(6) - "K-1 Nonimmigrant Fiance(e) of U.S. Citizen" - but it also says that - "Any EAD application other than for a replacement must be based on your pending application for adjustment under ©(9)".

Our situation is that we ARE married but have NOT yet applied for an AOS(we're applying for both AOS and EAD together) so what category do we currently fall into. I'm still thinking it's (a)(6) but I just want to make sure - we've come so far it'd be more than I could take to mess somthing up now!

  5. Hi, my fiance arrived in america about 4 weeks ago and we've now been married almost 2 weeks.

We haven't yet filed for an AOS or an EAD. I've just read that they can both be applied for at the same time but I'm not sure if this will affect how long the EAD will take to process. I was told it will take up to 90days for the EAD but approx 2years for the AOS...if I file them together will the EAD still take the shorter amount of time or will it come through at the same time as the AOS?? We really cant afford for him to be out of work for 2years(90 days is bad enough!).

I'm really just looking for some advice so anything you could offer would be appreciated.

  6. Haven't been on for ages but a lot has happened.

Patrick got his interview and was approved! :D

His visa arrived last week and he's comming to america on Sunday :D !!

Can't believe he's finally going to be here. YAY!!!

The thing is....he's not too sure what to do once he arrives. He's flying in from London and arriving in Atlanta. Who does he talk to? Where does he go? What line should he get in at immigration?? He's also not sure what to do with his chest X-ray. He thought he was meant to keep it with him and give it to someone at immigration but somebody has told him that he's just to hold on to it and give it to his new doctor here in america. Can someone clear up the whole process. He's excited to finally be getting here but getting nervous somthing will go wrong at the airport.

  7. Patrick mailed his packet 3 off on April 11, but we have not heard back from London about when his interview will be. Is this common? I emailed them just now to find out what was going on. However, I wanted to ask here what length of time others going through London had to wait before getting their interview.

  8. Patrick sent all of the forms he recieved in packet 3 back to the embassy. Wasn't he supposed to keep some for the interview? I think he was. Will this cause a problem? I'm going to tell him to print out the forms again and take them with him just in case.

Do not forget copies of your NOAs. Good luck.

    Mary

Does he need the NOA1? I copied the NOA2 and sent it with him, but not the NOA1.

  9. OK, Patrick and I are trying to make sure he has everything he needs for the interview,

help us add things if we don't have them on the list please!

    -Police Certificate (applied for)

    -Birth Certificate

-Evidence of relationship (pictures, plane ticket stubs, emails)

-Evidence of financial support (letter from my employer, pay stubs but I'm missing 2 of them, and W2's, bank statement)

    -Medical is booked

    What else does he need?

Also, where can he obtain certified copies of his birth certificate (long form)?

  10. You could always scan them and send them by email.

We've had trouble with the scanning things in the past. His computer is majorly messed up. I'd just like to avoid having to do anything else for this visa. I'm on time and money constraints as it is, standardized testing for my fifth graders next week, and I just would like to avoid any unnecessary steps.

  11. Patrick was here for the past couple of weeks and we took that time to get everything I needed to give him together. Unfortunately, we forgot to copy my check stubs. I sent him the letter from my employer, whom attached all the dates and amounts of the paychecks I have recieved. Do you think that will be sufficient enough, or should I send him the copies? It doesn't say anything about check stubs on the I-134 form; it just talks about the letter from the employer. I'd rather not send anything international, for financial purposes, if I don't have to.

  12. I called USCIS today and asked how they sent the petitions. The guy said that it is sent the day it is approved, not in batches. I told him I knew of others approved after me who were already through the NVC and on their way to the embassy and he said, "Well it can take the system up to 90 days to update." :ranting: That doesn't make any sense. If mine was sent the day it was approved then why are those after me already on their way to their embassy and the NVC still has no sign of mine?

P.S. I'm not mad at those who are already on their way to the embassy, I'm mad at the INS. GRRR@them not being more streamlined.

  13. Has anyone from CSC that's been approved in March already had their petition sent to NVC? Mine was approved on March 9th and I know they say to give them 2-4 weeks to get it there, it just seems like it shouldn't take so long. If I can send something snailmail and get it to them in 2 days why does it take a month to mail something?
