corvusheart got a reaction from lady3jane in Anyone else having trouble with employment background check?
Sorry didn't know the status quo was to wait 31 days for a background check to clear for a job that doesn't even require a college degree.

There's a whole thread devoted to that:

If you are doing it via a post office the department of state fee must be by check and then the processing fees (usually $35.00) can even be put on a card, those are the two payments - see below

Nolo.com says
Therefore, updating your address with immigration is always a good idea. And if you haven't done it when you've moved in the past, do it now and do it every time you move in the future. Or, if you meet all of the eligibility requirements, consider applying for U.S. citizenship. Once you are a U.S. citizen, you'll never have to give USCIS your address again.

At this point I would consult a lawyer and get them to issue a Writ of Maddamus. It will force USCIS to make a decision. However it is costly.

That's interesting---never got a letter with mine when I did my oath. He's fine though, as you said (and as the letter indicates) the signature matches the one he used on the photo.

I took my Citizenship Certificate down to the local Social Security office the following day after my ceremony (1.5 hour wait grrrr). They were able to find the info on their computer system that day. Like wise for my wife, except we took hers down 2 days after her ceremony. Now, when you apply for your passport, they keep your Citizenship Certificate with the application and send it back around the same time as your passport. I took a color copy and B&W copy before I went to the local passport office (in Rochester MN it was at the Government Center). The lady at the passport office about 2 weeks ago, said they were currently running 6-8 weeks for standard processing. Getting expedited processing was quite a few dollars more. So it may make sense to do the Social Security first. I also got a passport card. $30 more, good for 10 years and another form of Government ID with picture. I use it now for plane travel, as I don't have an enhanced MN driver's License.
Cheers

Nothing will happen. Except that he gets an unrestricted SSN card 😊

When I have time I'll take a picture of it and post it here. He's going to update his social security record after 10 days like they instructed and then apply for his US passport because he will need to send the original certificate with it.

I never got a paper with mine directing me how to sign it---was just told "sign it"...the signature on the certificate is not going to cause him any problems. If the only thing he's going to use that certificate for, anyhow, is getting a US passport----the signature is not going to affect that.
If his signature on the certificate is his "normal everyday signature" that he's been using with USCIS all the while---then there's really no issues.

corvusheart got a reaction from little immigrant in Where to fill out Oath ceremony questionnaire
It went well. When he handed his paper in they didn't tell him he needed to correct it and we don't live in the same city as the ceremony was. 525 people were naturalized from 78 different countries.

Hubby got his certificate. Signed it with his normal signature first which is his last name with a squiggle in front of last name. We then read it had to be a complete first, middle, and last name. There was plenty of space for him to sign first and middle name. But the last name looks weird with the squiggle in front of it. Will this cause problems?

All the cards if still in possession. Any EAD or AP cards not in hand, USCIS doesn’t care. There are tons of people like me who shred or throw away EAD/APs after getting GC 😀.

corvusheart reacted to Wuozopo in Renters background check for Permenant Resident issues
I see on your timeline he will be a USC in eleven days. He's been here five years so time to allow him to build some credit. I think you're on the right track now.

"The background check was very thoroughly performed by the United States embassy in London, where multiple senior consular personnel concluded that he was eligible and qualified for admission to the United States. This background check included the sources that you use plus many others that required top-secret security clearance. Now on which line does he sign your rental application?"

Good news!!! Status has changed to Oath ceremony to be scheduled!!
-
corvusheart reacted to Wuozopo in Moving question: overlapping leases
Ok. On June 24 he will get his naturalization certificate. He owes nothing more to USCIS including a change of address because on June 24 he is no longer a LPR needing to be tracked.
You legally have that apartment address until June 30. I would totally skip the change of address.

Tax returns are the strongest evidences. It WILL be a combo interview. They cannot adjudicate a N400 without first approving ROC.
