jalvarez320 reacted to phd1974 in Dominican Republic: Bringing over children on follow to join
    Hi VJers,
This is just a note as of May 2014. I wrote the DR consulate about follow-to-join children and asked them some questions that are not specifically on their web site, so I am putting them here along with the embassy's answer in hopes that it helps others that are planning to do follow-to-join.
Do the children need to be present for the initial interview with my fiance since they are follow-to-join?
    No.
Is there anything that I need to bring to the initial interview with my fiance regarding the children IF the children do not need to be there?
    Their birth certificates.
(My note: birth certificates should be long-form [in extensa])
I was under the impression that each person, incl. children, need to have the DS-160 and present it at the embassy during the interview. Would we need to present the DS-160 form and/or already have paid for their visa fees for the children during the initial interview, even if the children are "follow-to-join?"
No. They will need to present when they have their interviews.
Once we are married and we are settled in and ready to bring the children over (before the deadline for applying for K-2 visas), is it just a matter of notifying you to get another interview scheduled for the children (and thus being able to do their medical, pay their visa fees, etc.)? How would we need to notify you? E-mail (like this) or phone call or letter?
E-mail. The deadline to process the children is eleven (11) months after the visa of the mother or father is issued. and you will need to get married within 90 days from entering the US for the first time.
(My note: their email address is SantoDomingoVisas@state.gov. In the subject use Case Inquiry #<insert your NVC case number here>
    I hope this helps.

I could just imagine how you feel... that's my fear when my fiance comes and his son stays in DR and we have a son here in the USA. It's hard, maybe he could go out and get a job and he could be busy and not think about the negative things. You know his babymama will always call and complain and ask for money it sucks. But I really hope things turn around for you because after going thru this process you should be happy and not stressed....

Im sorry things are not good, it is quite an adjustment. All i can tell you is hang in there. My hubby does not like staying at home, but he has no choice. He cant work until he has his ead, so i try to take him out places on the weekend. In the meantime he cooks lunch, cleans, mows the lawn, and watches tv and listens to music. There is not much more he can do. He does not have children, but his whole family is sick with the flu. He misses his mom and grandparents, but he has never mentioned wanting to go back to the dr

So if the love is strong then you pull thru it. if not then it's not worth it... think about it....

jalvarez320 reacted to Enigma23 in Scheduled interviews after getting NOA2 in Oct. anyone????
I JUST checked the Timeline via the Search Utility and I do not find anyone in Approved (NOA2) in Sept. that is scheduled for Nov or any other month except for a few who are scheduled for January 2014.
The ONLY COUPLES from Republica Dominicana with Early November dates that I am aware of and are recorded are myself, a woman I have befriended here; another couple scheduled a few days after us that I also am familiar with... and married couple with a child together who are also patiently waiting for about a year if my memory serves me correctly.
We were ALL approved (NOA2) In July or the first day of August.
Please don't post things without merit. This process is stressful enough without misinformation flying around.
    Thanks!

jalvarez320 reacted to Eliezer y Wendy in I think my beneficiary is a fraud
Where is your base to state the DR is one of the highest fraud rate countries? That's where I was born. Traveled many times with a tourist visa to the U.S. Later my grandpa petitioned for my mom and family so we got Permanent Residency. I became a U.S. citizen with no fraud at all.
That phrase you just repeated was the basic of A-COUNTRY telling B-COUNTRY to be careful of C-COUNTRY. You can of course substitute A, B, and C with any set of countries.
I'm glad petitioning is not an easy process. I see how it helps this country to be safer than others. I'm glad is not easy for me that have a real family, because it makes me feel is not easy for others to bring dangerous people here. Now, it is also the job and judgement of us as petitioners to make sure we aren't bringing dangerous or fraud to this country. I'm glad the OP has realize there is something to think about on her relationship. It could've been the case of a beneficiary being from a different country.
i won't go any further making examples of fraud just to stay away from putting any country on the spot. And I hope this post doesn't put any country on the spot either. To describe a country looking at a few individuals is really just silly.

Im sorry dont want to put a damper on your parade, but BEWARE!!! Take your time get to know her well because I have seen people be taken for fools all the time in DR and your sending her money and buying her things be extra careful. I am bringing my fiance, but it took me 4yrs to really believe his intention and had he mentioned a visa in the first year we would not be doing this process today. It also helped that I went to live there for a yr with him. The fact that she knew things needed for the interview sounds like she did some research... love can happen at first sight but just test it to make sure its the real thing. Wish you the best.
